New Zed owner in Coventry

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone! :wave:

Have to admit i've been a little lazy here as I have owned my zed for over a month now with the intention to post a hello for a while, problem is everytime i log on here i get distracted with other threads ha ha, theres sooo much to learn about owning and modifying these beasts! also i gotta say im addicted to looking at the 'spotted' thread, probably out of fear than anything else lol

It took me 6 months to find and commit to one and I am not disappointed! :D

As regards to car itself;

It is a 2007 HR in Gunmetal with the factory fitted Nismo kit

Stillen Dual air intake filters

Scorpion Exhaust, with Cat looking into hi-flow..

The Zed seems to be well documented from day 1 of its life, including the orignal receipt from the dealership :) some of which show services carried out @ Abbey...

Unfortunately there are a few issues, one of which has the potential to keep me from sleeping at night, but I will post these at some piont in the relevant section with a title along the lines of HEEEEEEEEEELP!

Little history;

First Car Pug 306 (N Reg) 1.6 Petrol

Died due to lack of oil and coolant, engine seized on the A46. Apprantly the previous owner was mechanic.... I was 17 and didnt think to check these things - yes I know I justified the meaning of stupid here lol. Car looked like this but in green, remember it having some crazy digital keypad immobiliser...seemed way too high tech for the year.

Second, Pug 306 (N Reg) 1.9 TDI

Though i'd try again with the 306!

Was like this when I bought it lol, I swapped the original alloys to the O.Z's, was my first and only car with a turbo, yea didnt move that much but the sound is so cool to a teenager lol, oooo yea it also had a really really loud air horn ha ha

Third

So went from a 1.9 TDi to 1.8 VVTLI, the Celica mk7

Loved this car but it hated me, had countless oil burning issues where I decided to get the engine refurbed....twice, by 2 different companies, long story but all in all this car cost me way too much and no one seemed to know at the time how the engine should be put together lol!

When it did work it was amazing, when the lift kicked in at 6500 revs it was like another car altogether

Fourth: An FTO, was a project, cost me £200, needed new slam panel, bonnet and windscreen, owner left the country lol). Lack of time and knowledge prevented me from finishing it but i managed to sell it for a profit in the end;

Fifth: Clearly not put off by passed fails I went for another one, this time an ex-showcar which had a severe beating 'via the barrystick, yes it was featured on barrys site but wasnt totally shredded lol, spec too much to list but this is how it looked at a show few years back;

How it was advertised when I went for it;

Couldnt stand the pink and the graphics were all tired and collecting dirt, they had to go which revealed some paint issues. With no graphics at all (notice the primed patch)

From the side (were some large paint issues which dont show here);

As I had to sort the body issues out and the paint repair was impossible due to being unable to match the custom paint already used i went for a wrap....this was seriously a marmite jobby, had all kinds of reactions as you could prob imagine, the guys @ O.G tinting helped choose the design (I added the white parts) and warrant their work for i think 10 years..

To show the 'house of kolor' flip paint;

Sixth;

So getting rid of the previous impractical, fragile and somewhat heavy show piece i knew i was going to go for a zed but needed a runa around;

Cost me £350 and had a rev idling issue, sort of turned itself off when stopped with my foot replacing the ecu to keep the engine running, great for fuel but a little incvonvenient lol

So naturally going from 6 months in the mercedes (1.1 petrol Auto shut off limited edition) to the Zed i was a little like :drive1.

Apologies for the super long thread, thought you fellow auto enthuasiasts may appreciate the journey....

Lots more for me to say about each one but at the risk of my laptop dying and losing all this I have just posted it, apologies for lack of correct grammer and spelling etc etc..

I am happy, for now lol.

Welcome from leamington spa! Have to say, your car history is remarkably similar to mine. Hopefully see you around ☺

Absolutely buddy :-), using my vulcan head the zed seemed to be the 'logical' choice from the Celica, the last owner of the show Celica also went the way of the zed...then a GTR :-/ i couldnt possibly keep up lol!
