  1. It almost looks as if they ran out of sealer/top coat when your seats were made. I've only recently developed similar wear on my side bolster, but mine has been my daily for the past 13 years! I'll post up a thread this weekend as I'll be touching it up with leather paint and a top coat sealer. Definitely doesn't look reasonable for such limited use whether you crawl in carefully or not.
  2. Congratulations on your new purchase and welcome to the OC. 1. Definately avoid ANY hand wash/car wash places unless it's a trusted detailing outfit using a gentle 2bm wash as a minimum. I'd even ask the dealership NOT to wash the zed on delivery as they will invariably put more defects in the paint from poor washing. As for regular washing at home, there's the gentle 2 bucket method using a microfiber or wool mitt and pat drying with a microfiber drying towel as a bare minimum. If you have time a good prewash (eg Powermaxed traffic film remover)sprayed onto the body followed by a Jetwash rinse is even better before you start touching the paint with the wash mitt. 2. There are many stain resistant coatings for the alcantara from companies like Gtechniq etc. But also remember getting in and out avoiding rubbing hard on the seat bolsters will help keep wear down. Also washing your hands of any moisturizer/cream you may have used beforehand will help stop contaminating the wheel. 3. Car cover may have more risks than benefits unless you have to park under trees with risks of sap and bird bombs. A coat of wax or sealant every few months should be enough to shield your zed from the elements. 4 Protection film will help BUT ensure the fitter is good as there have been stories of damage caused during fitting film as they trim the film on the body using a knife. You could get a 10,000 word reply on different products and methods of detailing but hopefully this is enough to get you started
  3. I didn't say it was the best...... Just that it was THE CHEAPEST
  4. Although an older 350z is alot of car for very reasonable money, the running costs can be quite high compared to your average normal car. Apart from insurance which will be higher as it's a performance car, there's A. Petrol. It has to be 98ron and above. I see an average mpg of 17.2 mpg with mainly 40 and 50mph roads to and from work with little motorway miles. B.Tyres A considerable outlay especially if you're on 19s C.Clutch and flywheel Budget around £1k for these if not done by previous owner. D.Exhaust If on the original system, the flange between mid pipe and rear box won't have long left. Can be welded but budget a few hundred for a new budget system from Cobra etc or around £1k for something nicer from Ark or Invidia E. Disks These can appear fine on the outer face but be worn on the inside so budget for these BUT These are normally the same for all performance cars, so as long as the numbers all add up I'd definitely do the Z thing. I bought one new in 2005. My mate bought a Mercedes C class new at the same time. The zed is still a head turner today whereas his Merc just gets referred to as "that old Merc" by Joe public. The OC is really good for advice and traders too. It'll save you hundreds in new and used parts over going to Nissan. Also just a great club with a family feel with advice on anything from mortgages to pets
  5. I've not seen you around Manchester yet but will surely wave if I do as that's a mighty fine zed you have built there
  6. Sorry to hijack the thread but I LIVE IN CHEADLE We should do a mini meet sometime
  7. Use the pedal dance to read the code. Post it up and someone will be able to tell you more. Then maybe reset it and see if it returns.
  8. Had a similar problem at the end of my road after washing my rims. Probably had shampoo left around the discs and pads. Now I always do a couple light pedal presses before reaching the junction to clear the brakes after washing rims. Glad you're ok as you had a much scarier moment than me!
  9. I had a hard job hunting for the reverse light bulb and the orange indicator bulbs online. In the end I went to HALFORDS and found the price was actually the same as ordering off eBay, and I could see the bulb in the flesh confirming it was the right one.
  10. Welcome back. Looking forward to hearing about your new exploits.
  11. One guy reported his dad took some........so good he's not come home in 6 years Mods please move if considered too "edgy"
  12. I would ask what they plan on doing for the £680.
  13. 1. Dillydot 2. Conlonl 3. Spatt 4. wvSTUwv 5. TT350 6. Headphones Looking forward to this
  14. Wow £17 for 5 litres is a mighty fine price for good synthetic oil. Is it always this price or are Amazon doing a special?
  15. I'm very attached to my zed too and had it 13 yrs.......but THAT I'd swap into in a heartbeat Very very nice
  16. For now try the pedal dance to read and erase codes in case it's your reader that is faulty.
  17. The reflection in pic 5 looks flawless......very impressed
  18. Don't underestimate the importance of "one bit of rubber"! Many put their faith on a bit of rubber to prevent little accidents while enjoying life's little pleasures
  19. Have you collected your new ride yet? Probably too busy enjoying it but post up more pics when you get her home
  20. That is one mighty fine zed you have there.
  21. Enjoy your new zed. After years of ownership mine still brings a smile to my face every day.
  22. Nice to see another sunset orange zed here. One of the easiest cars to find in a car park!
  23. Welcome aboard. The OC really adds to the joys of Zed ownership. Glad you found it.
  24. The pic at the bottom of page 3 showing some awesome reflections. Reminds me of the T 1000 bad guy in Terminator 2!
  25. Love that black chrome finish. Those touring alloys are still a handsome design in my opinion. GLWTS
