  1. The advice I was given was not to rag it for the first 1k. Avoid driving at a constant rev ie just going on a long motorway journey but keep a varied driving condition. I was told you don't need to change the oil at 1k but I can't see any harm. Congratulations on your Nismo and be sure to post up pics
  2. ^ Tuuuuunnnnne
  3. I hear you Rock_Steady and thanks for the heads up on ILL AL SCRATCH...... totally forgot about them and their hypnotic melodies As it goes "Hey you" from THE ROCK STEADY CREW was the very first 12" I ever bought as a young teenager Any connections with your username perhaps? Here's my favourite remix of Craig Mack wit LL, Biggy and Busta LL seems a bit weak lyrically compared to the others in the video but by God does his lady make up for it with her Fineness!
  4. Just had to share this instrumental mix. Covers the essence of all I love about the 80s and 90s flavour. Bonus is the absence of profanity means I can play it in the presence of my kids too
  5. Even under a dusting of snow the Nismo is looking good. My zed has been put away this week while I use our Kia Sportage. I've had to be pushed up a snowy hill once already by some friends as the zed just couldn't cope!
  6. I've had my 05 manual from new and it's still fine with changing gears. I wouldn't say you have to push hard at all. I'd say something is amiss. Whether it's a big or small problem I don't know but this is not common to all zeds.
  7. 2 light coats of the Matt finisher/sealer applied and dried and the finish now blends into the surrounding perfectly. The Flat Black from Angelus is a perfect match for the zed black leather. The amount of gloss/sheen from the top coat sealer can be dulled further with the addition of Angelus Duller mixed in with the Matt Acrylic Finisher. If my seats were new and more matt I think the Duller would be required but on 13 yrs old seats the Matt Acrylic Finisher is just right.
  8. Welcome to the OC. Totally agree, the graphite wheels are looking very smart
  9. I feel your pain. All it takes is the constant barrage of "can you just....." or "have you just got an extra couple minutes to...." from 20 or so people at work and I'm running over an hour behind! Then I'll get very short with some poor innocent soul who's only crime was to politely ask "While I'm here, could you just....."
  10. I remember when my brake light switch under the pedal was faulty, the ABS and TCS lights stayed on. If you depress the brake pedal and the brake lights don't work properly, that'd be a clear sign
  11. Following on from the lazy quick fix above which will leave you with black hands I purchased some leather acrylic paint from Angelus after watching numerous YouTube videos of how people use it to repair trainers and handbags. Cost about a fiver each and £2.50 p&p. They recommend a deglazer first, but it's just acetone which is basically nail polish remover! My Zeds side bolster has started to show wear after 13 years of being my daily despite climbing in and out carefully to prevent excessive rubbing. The seat base also showing wear at the seam. So yesterday I gave the seats a good scrub with Dr Leather wipes, then a wipe with a damp towel. Today I gave a light scrub with a cotton bud dipped in acetone to the affected areas. After 3 light coats of the FLAT BLACK paint from Angelus.... I have to let this dry and put the top coat sealer tomorrow. I'll be using the MATT ACRYLIC FINISHER. I'll update when it's done, but so far I'm pretty chuffed for the small price paid.
  12. I've always loved the wheel design on the 35th anniversary edition 350z. Such a low mileage example must have been hard to find. Lucky for some eh!
  13. Fine example of a rare colour combo
  14. Great turn out. Great pics. Thanks for sharing
  15. Hopefully you're given the all clear soon.
  16. It almost looks as if they ran out of sealer/top coat when your seats were made. I've only recently developed similar wear on my side bolster, but mine has been my daily for the past 13 years! I'll post up a thread this weekend as I'll be touching it up with leather paint and a top coat sealer. Definitely doesn't look reasonable for such limited use whether you crawl in carefully or not.
  17. Congratulations on your new purchase and welcome to the OC. 1. Definately avoid ANY hand wash/car wash places unless it's a trusted detailing outfit using a gentle 2bm wash as a minimum. I'd even ask the dealership NOT to wash the zed on delivery as they will invariably put more defects in the paint from poor washing. As for regular washing at home, there's the gentle 2 bucket method using a microfiber or wool mitt and pat drying with a microfiber drying towel as a bare minimum. If you have time a good prewash (eg Powermaxed traffic film remover)sprayed onto the body followed by a Jetwash rinse is even better before you start touching the paint with the wash mitt. 2. There are many stain resistant coatings for the alcantara from companies like Gtechniq etc. But also remember getting in and out avoiding rubbing hard on the seat bolsters will help keep wear down. Also washing your hands of any moisturizer/cream you may have used beforehand will help stop contaminating the wheel. 3. Car cover may have more risks than benefits unless you have to park under trees with risks of sap and bird bombs. A coat of wax or sealant every few months should be enough to shield your zed from the elements. 4 Protection film will help BUT ensure the fitter is good as there have been stories of damage caused during fitting film as they trim the film on the body using a knife. You could get a 10,000 word reply on different products and methods of detailing but hopefully this is enough to get you started
  18. I didn't say it was the best...... Just that it was THE CHEAPEST

  19. Although an older 350z is alot of car for very reasonable money, the running costs can be quite high compared to your average normal car. Apart from insurance which will be higher as it's a performance car, there's A. Petrol. It has to be 98ron and above. I see an average mpg of 17.2 mpg with mainly 40 and 50mph roads to and from work with little motorway miles. B.Tyres A considerable outlay especially if you're on 19s C.Clutch and flywheel Budget around £1k for these if not done by previous owner. D.Exhaust If on the original system, the flange between mid pipe and rear box won't have long left. Can be welded but budget a few hundred for a new budget system from Cobra etc or around £1k for something nicer from Ark or Invidia E. Disks These can appear fine on the outer face but be worn on the inside so budget for these BUT These are normally the same for all performance cars, so as long as the numbers all add up I'd definitely do the Z thing. I bought one new in 2005. My mate bought a Mercedes C class new at the same time. The zed is still a head turner today whereas his Merc just gets referred to as "that old Merc" by Joe public. The OC is really good for advice and traders too. It'll save you hundreds in new and used parts over going to Nissan. Also just a great club with a family feel with advice on anything from mortgages to pets
  20. I've not seen you around Manchester yet but will surely wave if I do as that's a mighty fine zed you have built there
  21. Sorry to hijack the thread but I LIVE IN CHEADLE We should do a mini meet sometime
  22. Use the pedal dance to read the code. Post it up and someone will be able to tell you more. Then maybe reset it and see if it returns.
  23. Had a similar problem at the end of my road after washing my rims. Probably had shampoo left around the discs and pads. Now I always do a couple light pedal presses before reaching the junction to clear the brakes after washing rims. Glad you're ok as you had a much scarier moment than me!
  24. I had a hard job hunting for the reverse light bulb and the orange indicator bulbs online. In the end I went to HALFORDS and found the price was actually the same as ordering off eBay, and I could see the bulb in the flesh confirming it was the right one.
  25. Welcome back. Looking forward to hearing about your new exploits.
