AKVai Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Driving home from Dartford in 4th lane (5pm so usual high volume of traffic) notice cars in front slowing and slowing and slowing down to a stop. So I hit my hazards at around 20mph down to a standstill. Notice the white van behind me still coming pretty damn fast, thinking.... well he isn't going to stop! Clearly not paying attention, "he" swerves into 3rd lane and narrowly misses me. Thank christ for that I think as I then see another car behind said white van come barrelling behind. Now I'm thinking a bright Orange zed with hazards on would be pretty noticeable! 2nd car attempts to swerve (never brakes!!) and crashes into the rear of me sending me into the central reservation!!!! Looks pretty bad to me as in doubt the insurance will repair it. Loved my Zed. Full service history and kept that way taking it to Sly Kaizer, just had my new exhaust fitted and last year blacked 370Z wheels. Low mileage for its age. Now look at it :( Quote
coldel Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Sad to see, at least you sound like you came out relatively unscathed, you can always get another Zed. So where is it now? Quote
Lewis_UK Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 F**king hell, hope you ok mate. Judging from you posting clearly still alive which is great , just goes to show the mighty Zed saves a life again. Quote
Humpy Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Well they did a good job on that one! Sorry to see this and like Col said you are alive and that's the main thing. Quote
GMballistic Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 That's such a shame and tbh it looks pretty bad (rear quarter damage, front damage, plus airbags gone off etc) so I'd imagine it will be written off. Glad you're in one piece though as that's the main thing. Quote
AKVai Posted January 20, 2016 Author Posted January 20, 2016 Yeah, very impressed with the Zeds safety and airbags. Would rather not test it again when stationary on the outside lane of a motorway mind! Just have few bruises and such from the airbag, other than that fine. So pretty lucky I think! Police called Auto Renovations to collect the cars (Turns out we all stopped as a Jag had plowed into the back of 2 other cars in front of me, so about 200 yards down the road are another 3 mullered cars!) so its down in Rochester now. mylo Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Sad to see that buddy looks like it was a lovely Zed, glad you could walk away from it though! Quote
HoundDog Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 That looks nasty sorry to see that. Main thing is you are ok. Quote
Wasso Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Considering I expected more damage to be honest and shows that whilst the Zed is heavy, it's heavy in crash protection. Glad you're ok, but the main cause is idiots driving far too close, especially on motorways. I drive 800 miles a week on the M40 and see these accidents at least twice a week. It's infuriating that drivers above their station think that their speed has a given right over that of the car in front. Then to keep tapping their brakes because they're too close. What happens next is that traffic congests in front. Mr "drive close up ass" then brakes late, heavy on the brakes and everyone is "hazards" on...... All because of Mr "I drive like a ****" Hopefully you'll not be put off by the damage and insurance hassle to get back into Zed life. Have to say 90% of her looks great from rear quarter forwards. 3 Quote
davey_83 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Sorry to see this, really terrible. I read it think ffs man Quote
Linus27 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Geez, totally gutting but at least you are ok which is the main thing. Quote
Stutopia Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Sorry to see this, looks like she took it like a champ. Glad you're all good. I imagine the whiplash from a rear ended is pretty hefty? Don't know whether it was better or worse to see it coming Quote
The Big Miester Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Sorry to see this but it stood up well and the main thing you walked away I been in a vehicle when the air bags have deployed the make one heck of a bang ...! but they do there job Quote
jimmy.farrow7 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Sad to read this bud but it could have been a lot worse, hope you get another zed Quote
Juggalo Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Look terrible. But... http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/104339-my-new-350z-transformation/ Quote
Dynamic Turtle Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 That's quite a nasty shunt up the arse, never fun being on the receiving end. The car looks like a write off and trust me once the airbags have gone off its a nightmare to put them right again (crashed on track last year). Time to try a 370? Quote
kbad Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 :sorry:Absolutely sorry to hear this but the fact that you are alive and well is wonderful - I believe you will get a better Z going forward Quote
taras Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Good looking car! Can imagine how it must feel loosing it if airbags didn't go off insurance company could still authorise a repair. Hope all scars heal soon 👠Quote
brillomaster Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 that's a massive shame, looks like a lovely car. Hope you get it sorted quickly and with minimal hassle. Quote
AKVai Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 Thanks for the best wishes gents. I am a little sore this morning but not bad at all considering. That's an impressive repair job Juggalo!! Spoke to insurance this morning, said damage was extensive, rear and side panel, airbags all gone off, front damaged too from central reservation. They still say its repairable! Which is good. Waived my excess as entirely not my fault and have courtesy car whilst its being repaired (one of a similar spec they say..... well that'll be interesting! ha ha ha) 2 Quote
davedutch Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 The first part of the story is never good to hear, but you walked away relatively unscathed and it appears a happy ending may be in sight although I have to say I'm slightly surprised with front and rear damage plus airbags that they are considering a repair. Good luck and I hope the bruises etc heal fast. Quote
ZEUS Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 That's a nasty one, it's good the insurance company said its repairable but they may come back to you and say it's not after all. Lovely looking car and glad your ok. Quote
Darren-B Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I saw this accident yesterday, was glad to see that you were all out of the cars safely, it was quite a mess. Unfortunately I don't think they will repair your car tbh, such a shame as I see you on the A2 & Hoath way quite often 1 Quote
