My R8 vs Winter Weather

Recommended Posts

Well.

Managed to lose control of the R8 today, span 180, side on into a curb.

Was accelerating out of a junction onto a Dual Carriageway. Back end twitched, caught it, twitched the other way and I just lost it. Speed was about 35-40mph.

Intially damage doesnt look bad, but up close not good.

2 broken alloys.

o/s wheel bent - quick look underneat shows its all pretty bent in there, including the shock.

She's off to Vauxhall tomorrow for the garage to make a repair quote. I would suspect the price of repair wont be worth it. Especially if there is any damage to the rear diff.

What a way to start xmas hols.

It's that horrible dampness on the road. I am finding exactly the same issue, looks like the conditions are fair, but underneath there's enough moisture to let that back end go.

Very sorry to hear and see your news..... it's a real heart sinker.... I hope you manage to get a reasonable solution!!

(Is that a police van behind your car?)

Yeah, car was undrivable and I was blocking a major road. Called police straight away.

Lets look on the bright side........the amount of people on the market for a mauhsive V8 is probably quite poor...you wanted to sell anyway - insurance will get you basically market val for the car and save you the messing about with tyre kicking test pilots.

Your safe, alive, unharmed and soon to be able to go any buy whatever you want with the insurance monies (if anyone will insure you ;) )

Bummer!! Glad you're ok and no one else was involved, I know we all love our cars but at the end of the day there's always one to replace it somewhere, we only get one life though. :surrender:
