  1. Excellent effort my man. I charge 300 per seat for refacing so you've saved yourself a bundle.
  2. Jeepers! Sounds like you were very lucky. Well he ain't dead but he did have to have his leg lopped off due to a rather nasty bone tumour Running a rather brutal 20 mile obstacle course in Peterborough tomorrow to raise money for Bone Cancer Trust Technically I never actually had one but no I have had neither the car nor the girl that owned the car for some considerable time
  3. I'd recolour a job like that for probably £500 so a grand isn't bad. That said a grand sounds very cheap in the world of reupholstering. Si from Mondo Hide and seat would probably be able to give you an idea but he's a tough cookie to get hold of!
  4. Jesus Christ mate! Glad to hear you're on the way out from it.
  5. I drove this home today but I'm not sure that counts Just beetling around in an old Rav4 these days. I get to drive cars like that most weeks so my thirst is well slaked. Business is good. Just relocated to my own unit on t'other side of the city. Potentially looking at expanding into PPF but can't make my mind up. Impressive stuff but VERY expensive.
  6. Very well mate. Busy busy with work etc. Drove passed The Morton the other day on the way to see my mate in Oswestry hospital. Brought back some memories from Wales trips
  7. How the Devil is everyone? SMD still haunting the broom cupboard?
  8. Nothing 5 minutes with a claw hammer wouldn’t solve
  9. Always welcome to give me a bell squire 07739755078 It’s a very involved and initially scary job. Requires equipment and good products though. Doable if you’ve the time and money.
  10. Only from my understanding of cars I've worked on (and that does not include a 370) you need a diagnostic to put the epb in service mode.
  11. Decebt enough but exceptional with a camera and chirping chat
  12. Cheers dude. Not South Cheshire but not a million miles away given that out fair county us only a tiddler Plenty of examples on our facebook page (not so much website which I'm still updating).
  13. Stu it would appear you are fully immersed in the dark side. Looks like you've been learning some good stuff. I could waffle on all day but let me give you 2 key pieces of advice. Wet sanding is insanely difficult. So many polishes will tell you they remove 1500 grit or 1200 grit......bollocks. You'll really struggle to remove the etching that they will impart on the bodywork as you've got to level out the trough the grit makes in the paint. You may get a much flatter glossier finish but sanding tracers can be a major issue. 2. Perfection is a myth. Always be prepared to know enough is enough. If what appears to be a shallow scratch is 1/10th of a mm thick bear in mind that paint is IRO the thickness of a £5 note and you are working on around 50%of that thickness......i.e not a lot.
  14. Oddly enough I thought they were a thing of the past until my mates brand new Polo Gti started squeaking at him for an oil drop after 2k Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  15. It doesn't but whatever keeps you happy! Modern leather does not need 'oils' to moisturize it. It's lacquer topcoated from the factory. The main cause of cracking is failure to keep it clean and sundamage Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  16. Do you have any leather cleaner comparisons in your test thread? I don't think so, no. At least I don't recall doing one. I do have a number of cleaners in my arsenal, if I ever come across a suitably filthy leather interior to demonstrate on I will do though. On the topic of conditioners, anything produced after the mid-ninties is top coated so conditioners actually do more harm than good; they never reach the leather they're designed to condition but rather sit on the top coat attracting/trapping dirt. Don't use conditioners on modern leather, please. Leather manufactured before the mid-ninties will benefit from conditioning from time to time though. As I understood it (and this is based on reading from 2001 when sorting my zed leather out so memory could be hazy) that the top coat only applied to cream based conditioners and that water/liquid based conditioners will penetrate the top coat and hydrate the leather? You could well be right, but off the top of my head I couldn't name a water-based conditioner. All the ones I can think of are cream-based and designed specifically for vintage leather... except AutoGlym which is designed to part you with your money. Basically it's all a play on wording. I use SiRamik ICL which protects but will penetrate into the fissures and micropores in the leather top coat. Cream as you say is utterly pointless unless you have analine leather (pre 85). Even the 86 Maserati I've just done bad sealed leather. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  17. Right load of fun smoothing those battery covers out was i can tell you!! Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  18. All answers are in the servicing section bud Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  19. It is going well lads but I cant ever afford to take my foot off the gas. My goal was always to have detailing as the main focus really and its great to see that its finally coming through. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  20. Matte wraps must nevereverecerever be cleaned with anything abrasive or anything with glossifiers in it. Swissvax, Nanolex and based on above Chem guys do matte friendly products. Our Diamas Professionali ceramic coating is also matte friendly. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  21. I didn't think bits were clear coated, have you got any pictures of your damage at all? Im bit so sure its clearcoat in the strictest sense but its something forming a top layer if memory serves. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  22. Sorry - just updated first post as I lost a bit of it at the end for some reason! Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  23. Just a quick one to let you guys know im not renewing my trader membership for this year as of tomorrow. Its a decision Ive made purely because I simply dont have time to really maintain a forum presence (its hard enough keeping up with facebook and the website!) so im going to take a break for a bit (never say never!). Also i think our main attaction to the forum is hydrodipping which is becoming increasingly difficult to turn round quickly given the detailing backlog (currently backed up to June and really is the mainstay of the business) and the fact that its not very cost efficient or safe to post parts back and forth. I'll still be around for advice as always but obviously as a long standing member I will be respectful in not conducting any business via forum pm or via forum pages (in other words if you want to contact or recommend me then its best to go via our website or facebook). Thank you for all of your support over the last 3 years. As always this forum is fantastic Www.facebook.com/revolveautomotiveltd Www.revolveautomotiveltd.com PS - mods ive posted here as i assume my section will be hidden/deleted tomorrow so didnt want this to disappear into the ether.
