As we are now in 2017 I've started a new thread - latest news on who will replace Rosberg does seem to make Bottas the likely successor, given that Massa has agreed to do another season with Williams: http://www.motorspor...-is-done-862197

Interesting and informative what you have shared there Given the scenario you mention about an underwriter throwing out a claim....would I be right in saying that the owner's NCB, protected or otherwise, would not be affected but that insurance companies are likely to increase the owner's premium at next renewal (and maybe for 5 years). I say that given feedback I have seen in the past that insurance companies perceive added risk because of the mere simple fact the owner the other party. Or dare I say, an excuse to get more premium revenue.

I have one car that has front fogs and one car that doesn't. I know which is safer/better to use in dense fog........ Oh, and Ekona - if you are driving with "you just need headlights on" in fog then you need shooting too - or have you forgotten how to dip your headlights?
-
I really cannot see how technolgy in cars will ever cover every eventuality on the roads. Even if it works perfectly 100% of the time. And if the redundant driver is in the seat will they be awake enough to deal with the unexpected? But then I'm buggered if I will let the '45 do the self parking bit - it may miss the objects (cars/posts etc) the sensors pick up but not those low kerbs just waiting for the wheel rims.......
-
Remember, it is not just so you can see but decent fog lights can help you being seen by others including pedestrians, as your second post corrects. I recall having a pair of Cibies on one of the Scoobies and they were really helpful in dense fog if angled down on the road surface edges and rather like how Rally drivers would have those lights adjusted in fog conditions. Absolutely worse than useless though if adjusted as full beams in fog with the glare simply bouncing back.

Bridgestones (presumably the RE050As) are not the greatest wet weather tyre in my experience but yes, maybe your test drive was maybe pushing a bit hard for the conditions. One of the features I miss with the 370 (or 350) balancing the power/torque against the road conditions, unlike the FWD with the engine over the driven wheels. And no doubt why the Audi just didn't offer that special feeling you mention. A light/symbol on the dash shows (orange iirc) when the traction is turned off.

Traction issue: What condition were the rear tyres in and were they a premium brand? My bet is they are well worn..... Yes, the 370 has a big traction button in easy sight by the door opening - by default it is always on when starting the car. Front wheels skipping: If only when tyres were cold then it is simply the 'summer tyres' tread blocks not warmed up and the suspension geometry causing the skipping. If still a problem when warmed up then a wheel alignment should be done. Bonnet catching the A pillar: A known issue that simply requires the bonnet to be hinges to be adjusted. You may need a paint touch up. Do a search on here in the 370 General section for spec differences. You may be best off doing that via Google. The car you have linked clearly has an aftermarket rear spoiler and whether the red tow hook is just for show, or has served a track purpose should be checked out - and make sure it has a full service history dealer/specialist Indy.

Hopefully we might see one or more of your pics in the 2017 calendar

Good on you Andy For anyone who is not aware Andy has been a great supporter of the forum and has regularly attended club events and competes in sprints/hill climbs with his immaculate s/c HR, and on top of that he is a really nice fella. Oh, and if you want a ZED Shed built he comes highly recommended....although there might be a long waiting list -
Says it is standard in this spec sheet.......? http://nissannews.co..._Specs_3-15.pdf

Sadly, as the search function does needs 4+ characters to give answers the best way is to google - i.e. : 350z-uk forum - "14N" You will see his posts from links and by clicking on his avatar it will reveal when he was last active and also gives you option to pm him. I hope the expected forum upgrade might include a more user friendly search facility that will improve matters

Take a step back and look at the "likes" and if those listed "hates" are enough to turn peeps off from buying one then they are stupidly fussy to miss out on one of the best drives at sensible prices that has been produced in the last 15 years or so.

The 370 indicator does not tell you when to change, simply shows the gear you are in the display all the time. As Dan says, blanking out the display by some black tape might be the only option - can't recall if there is another way to stop it.

Been For a Test Drive - GT86 & 370z & Scirocco R(ejection)

Electric handbrake is for lazy drivers IMO, and although the 350/370 manual handbrakes were not exactly inspiring I much preferred those to that I have in the A45. Miss the option to use the manual as I found it so useful in icy/snowy downhill stuff keeping off the footbrake and just using the gears/handbrake and then that means you have better control over the steering rather than understeering slides each time the footbrake is used. Comes from years of off-road trialling many moons ago But then the 4 wheel drive the A45 gives you when you want some go has its advantages on the slippery stuff -
Seems like that ^^^^ would be $400 well spent when a replacement becomes necessary
