you might want to check your figures on the smokers, you'll probably find that the amount they pay in tax on cigarettes has already paid for their eventual health care and yours as well. being that a packet of cigarettes cost less than a £1 to produce and sell and the government claims about £6 a pack in tax. fat people although ugly have already paid for their health care in the tax on food that they already paid. same for the drinkers, admittedly the tax on alcohol is less so they possibly only pay for themselves just. it might also be prudent to point out that some of the highest rates of smoking and drinking are statistically in the poorest areas, and often this includes benefit claimants; so on this i can possibly see your frustration as they have used your tax money to buy their booze and fags which the government has then taxed and used to pay for their health care with a supplement of your tax money too boot. and don't worry about the council paying to get poop picked up, they don't; not unless you class running the lawn mower over it as cleaning up.

Electric bills. Any advice would be appreciated.
rtbiscuit replied to Cragus's topic in Off Topic Discussion
we have a big 4 bed semi and our electric bill is about £100 a quarter its only 2 of us but we have the tumble drier TV and computers on a lot. We're with southern electric, but we got our bills sorted through EBICO we also only pay quarterly, we don't have a direct debit setup, and we Read the meter and put that value in every quarter to get our bill done all online. we were originally with Scottish power and our bills were nearly double. but when we bought the place that was the supplier that was set up with the property. have they tried using one of the online comparison websites for energy suppliers? -
Anybody know the guy who owned my Zed b4 me???
rtbiscuit replied to The Bounty Bar Kid's topic in 350Z General
good luck with finding the previous owner, you might find they weren't on here but on the other forum. -
i wouldn't say unproven, but i would say its a very black and white opinion when actually i think there is a lot of grey to the situation. alot fo what is written is good common sense, but i wouldn't write off a tyre like the falken just because its cheaper. thats like writing the zed off compared to the 911, yes the 911 is the better car but the zed is just as good in many other ways it might not cost as much but it doesn't make it a @*!# heap.

his name was Geoff and he raised guineapigs and used the fur to make slippers. he sold it a few months back -
i wouldn't be putting any money japspeeds way, just on their customer service alone, and seeing the fitment of their exhaust i don't want to have to take the engine out again to fix a blown weld. as for competing with M3's etc if it floats your boat then crack on, but you could end up spending a lot of money to create something faster and end up with a car that you either don't like or don't enjoy because you've changed it from what it was originally aimed for. the zed is after all a GT cruiser not an out and out track weapon (it can be turned in to a capable machine but lots of £ needs to be spent to do it.) as has been said before driving ability counts for a lot if someone knows a set of back roads well they can often demolish someone following who doesn;t. if your going to do it, go FI, if your going for headers, don't go japspeed, or save your money have a holiday and enjoy the zed for what it is. i bought this to deal with most things with the supercharged V8 in a straight line there isn't alot that tends to bother me, and if i felt it wasn't quicker enough i could boost the power from 370 to 450-500 for about 2 grand. its no lotus in the corners but for sheer straight line pulling its hilariously good fun. and before anyone pipes up its now running on all 8 cylinders with new cam gaskets fitted its not even leaking oil anymore either

but this is where i struggle to agree, i wouldn't call falkens ditch finders, they are a more than adequate tyre, i think tyres come in 3 sets, Premium, mid range and budget. the falkens i would class as a mid range tyre along with the VUS. budget would be your linglong and nankang and premium would be your michelins, bridgestones pirelli etc. i think tyre choice is hugly subjective and actually has a lot to do with driving style, and tyre size and profile. i've driven the falken 452's on 18" wheels with a 45 profile, and i've driven them on 18" with a 30 profile. (i know it also matters about the tyre width) but the lower profile tyre felt much better to drive on than the higher profile. yet both were the same tyre, but admittedly on 2 different cars. i've been so pleased with the falkens i've used them on the S2000 and the XKR. but would say they felt their absolute best on the S2000. i think with it being a lighter car made all the difference to how the tyre performed. but even still on the XKR i don't feel like i'm lacking confidence in them, but i did with things like the toyo's on a bigger profile. but then my driving style is probably different with the jag auto box compared to dans in the porsche with the different gear set up and torque bands. same as my driving style was different in the S2000. there are way to many variables to turn round and say 1 particular tyre is the perfect tyre for every driver of every car in every size.

tyres as a warranty issue tend to only be an issue with people like porsche

i'd be checking the fixing points, i know some are made with proper brass fittings, and some are made with steel. some are also shrouded, i would be buying the ones with brass fittings, and if they are shrouded as well then even better.

me thinks someone works for the council fairplay, i agree with alot of what is said, and i don't think many of us would have a problem with anyone in those situations. I don't mind paying tax and it being used for benefits, its for all those kind of situations that it should be for. the problem most of us have is those who do nothing but milk the system, the figures projected last year for what the govenrment thought they lost through benefit fraud etc was eye watering, it wasn't a few million, it was a mental amount. i saw a young woman being interviewd on tv a few months back, she was on benefits and arguing the point that benefits should be increased. now i agree if you follow the system then the output can be small. but she was sat there with her giant flat screen TV her kids had all the latest gadgets, they'd just bought a dog a few months back (a frickin huge boxer dog) and she was saying she didn't get enough. well i'm sorry but when on a low budget you don't buy expensive things. you might think i sound harsh, but my parents weren't well off when i grew up. but they never claimed any benefits other than child benefit. i never had all the big electronics alot of my friends did, i never had the latest fashion in cloths etc, we didn't go on holiday. and we did just fine. i think alot of people need to learn to live with in their means. i'd love a lamborghini but it aint in my budget,

Having driven on both the VUS and the F452's i know both tyres well, i would also point out that in your discussion the 452's are possibly a bad choice for comparison. my reason for saying this is that you refer to research budget and that falkens must be quiet small, but i was recently informed that falken 452's are actually made by dunlop, or under licence from dunlop. and if you look at the 452 and compare it to the dunlop sport maxx they are very similiar When speaking to a tyre shop recently he said that as far as he was aware they were manufactured by the same people. also as far as i am aware Vredestein didn't design the tyre they bought the design from an other manufacuturer (or the designer from somewhere whos company weren't using it.) i think the info is on their website somewhere. I'd agree the falken is a budget tyre but i wouldn't say thats neccessarily a bad thing. Toyo are a prime example of this, when they first came out no one knew them, but because their tyres were competitive in price they gained popularity. they are no longer as cheap as they used to be. personally i think the toyo T1R is crap but they make a good track tyre in the R888. just because its cheaper doesn;t make it worse. it may not be as competitive in performance as the PSS but it meets the needs of most drivers needs. the difference between them and ditch finders is that you stay on the road with falkens. if we were taking this stance then i would argue that those who don't swap to winter tyres for 4 months of the year are taking the same risk. if i had money to burn i wouldn't be as picky with how much i spent on tyres, but on my jag the difference was £600 between the falkens and the Pirelli Assymetricos and after driving on the both i'd actually say the falkens were better.

i've used the plastx from megs and it is good, but if you want rid of the scratches then wet and dry is the only way forward, it does scare the crap out of you when you start, but when you do the final polishing stages all is good and panic over. i use the technique alot in my workshop. and it works every time. patience is the key and proper prep work, if you rush the stages you get a half baked attempt, if you do it properly you can get a better finish that when it came from the manufacturer.

setting up a brand is the first thing i did, registered the names etc set up business emails and a website i ended up using the Z on the end of customs instead of the S purly as someoen else who did landrover engines already had rtcustoms etc. i went for the .co.uk and the .com and linked them. didn't bother with the others etc as most people use the .com
