  1. Or why not try a little Chef eh Rich. the american diners on the A1 are awesome brilliant burgers at sensible prices. i'm sure we're about due another interlude at little chef though martin aren't we
  2. the S2k didn't seem to eat clutches like the zed does, having been on the S2k forum for a while there aren't many stories of having to replace the clutch. so i doubt its a 13 hour job. plpus the engine bay is quiet spacious, and everything very accessible on the underside of the car. should be about a 4 hour job as for bigger balls to drive the zed i found it quiet forgiving, but the S2k is very balanced and communicative on the limit. but it seems to have a reputation as a widow maker because it has no TCS as standard where the Zed does. it probably eaiser to light the zed wheels up becuase of the extra torque

  10. its nigh on impossible to pass emissions with decats fitted. i know some garages used to have to stick the sensor in a nearby fiesta exhaust in order to get the reading. but it doesn;t matter now anyway as you'll need some kind of filter device in there now anyway. if your happy to swap around then just get some OEM's if you don't get some HFC's or alternatively get the motordyne XYZ pipe which allows you to keep the decats, and puts a singular cat in the y pipe on a quick release mechanism so you can swap between decat, and cat, or hi flow, in a matter of minutes.

  12. same here, i also recorded all my fuel fill ups for all my cars working out my average MPG etc and the S2K was about 8 mpg better, but then my drive to work wasn't one you could drive on the limit with. £60 filled the s2k tank and on a long drive i could get 320 miles out of it. zed cost £90 to fill up and i'd only get about 400 ish miles for the same drive. straight line yes the zed has the edge with the torque, but stick it on twistie B roads and the lighter S2K brings it right back being the better handling car and a good bit lighter. but as has been said its swings and roundabouts. where one is better in some aspects its worse than others. on a long drive in the S2k by the end of 5 hours in the car with my wife i wanted to throttle her (partly as i like the roof down even in -2 weather nad she doesn't) but the same drive in the zed and we were fine. the zed is at the end of the day a GT cruiser. it eats big miles comfortably, with a good torquey engine for over taking with ease. I love my XKR it has the power that both the zed and the S2k were missing, but it lacks the feel of the zed on the road and the nimbleness that the S2k had. but then it has 2 more seats for work stuff and a far nicer intierior with sooooooo much more gadgets on it. but then i'm always fixing it where as the honda was faultless. i found the seats in the zed played havoc with my hip, but the S2000 seats were fine, but neither match the sheer sofa like comfyness of the Jag. but then the jag seat doesn't give the grip that the zed or honda seat gave. but then i'm not throwing the car around as much as i did with the other 2 because i used them for track days. there are pro's and cons to every car, things you gain and things you lose. you just need to find the one that suits you best. i had to leave the honda behind as my knee has got so bad i needed an auto and its really improved my enjoyment of driving again. but my next car i want paddle shifters to return back some of the manual feel. both are great cars in their own rights but achieve different things in different ways. you need to work out which one suits you best.

  14. for piston heads i'd say about right, but as its free to advertise, everyone over prices on piston heads. normally by about 1k. i'd say 6.5k for a 2004 or between there and 7.5k basically be prepared to be knocked down on price. people may be pedantic on cars but they still want to pay the least amount of money for the most amount of car. what ever happens, GLWTS

  18. depends which route you take, i drove mine back from edinbugh to suffolk. there are 2 main routes. up the M6 or up the A1 both are similiar distances but the M6 route is a lot quicker...but the A1 is a far more interesting drive, if you do the A1 route add another 1,5 hours.

  20. i could give you many reasons why not to buy a zed, but i still bought 1, this isn't a which is the best car competition, its which is the most suitable the the OP. opinions are subjective whats the old saying "opinions are like arse holes; everyones got one"

  22. it was alright but my S2k made a better noise with the HKS exhaust, and so did my MR2 with the H&S exhaust and TRD manifold. like i said it was my expectations of what i thought it could sound like modded and it never even came close. like i said earlier i've got what i want now and thats my V8 and that has the sound i want, a proper sound

  24. words uttered by people who think you're only gay if you take it as for the cockpit yes i would say sitting in the S2000 is not disimiliar to a single cockpit race car, everything is at your finger tips and you do kind of feel squeezed between the transmission tunnel and the door. but the feel and feed back is great. and i liked the snug feeling, i'd also say the quality of materials used in the interior of the S2k is better than the Zed. (nicer plastics) i got better fuel economy out of the S2K when commuting. and its far easier to get a nice sound out of the 4 pot S2k than it is out of the V6. one of my biggest disappointments was the engine noise of the V6 or maybe my expectations of it. i always found that with 4 pots you could get a good noise with a choice exhaust. and i thought with the V6 it had 2 more cylinders that it would be even better, i suppose i was hoping for something a bit like a V8, but it wasn't. its not the cars fault, it was my expectations that were wrong, but i never liked the noise of the zed. and alot of the tuning options just made it raspy and chavvy. but you live and learn and i now own a V8 and i'm happy as larry. i loved the S2k for commuting, but then again i have a big soft spot for soft tops, there is something about dropping the roof that adds to the driving experience. and again this is possibly why i preferred the S2k over the Zed. maybe if i'd bought the convertible zed it might have been different. with the roof down you don't have to rag the nuts off it to feel like your having fun. it just was fun to be in. but my wife hated the S2k and loved the zed. she liked the big heavy feel of the zed as she said she felt safe in it. she liked the more open cabin. and she hated the fact it revved so high. with being even lower than the zed, the wind blowing past and the theater of the noise in the S2k it makes it feel even faster. for me the S2k is a proper sports car, the zed is a GT cruiser and the BMW sits somewhere in between. but its personal taste as said before, most people on here will disagree with me, will probably say the S2k and BM is a girls car and the Zed is a mans car cos it has a V6 which is all bullocks. as said before go try them all out, go to some meets on all 3 forums, go experience other versions. have you considered an R33 skyline? several people have moved form the zed on to them and are very happy, with 4wd and a very tunable engine. you have a great time ahead as you can be like a kid in a sweet shop, trying lots of flavors and working out what you like best. because at the end of the day you have to drive it. so you need to be happy with your decision.
