  1. the OU has a very good rep, employers have now come to realise, people who have studied on the OU have excellent qualities due to the discipline required to study with the OU.
  2. trade in is never a nice price, but they do it because A they have to make profit somewhere and B you get the andvantage of a quick sale, but they might be stuck with it for months. and if your desperate to sell then they know people are willing to take the hit. if you want more cash back a private sale is the only route. as for the trade in offer, seems about right to be honest.
  3. i've heard of someone else having major issues with a shine front bumper, it is at the end of the day a copy and copies are never a straight bolt on fit, and would generally need the expertise of a body shop to fit them. i think what you get with shine products is decent fiberglass work, as in the fact that it is a denent thickness and a good gel coat finish. i've seen some kits you can almost see through they are so poor. might sound silly but does it say shine on the product its self? any branding marks etc? did the seller say it was a perfect fit? some times they have been pre fitted to check them, other times they are sold sttraight from the mould. my guess is that cann't be re shapped but what the bodyshop will do is bond it in place, this does make them some what permanent.
  4. jag would be looking for experienced painters, you'd need to have started a course or aprentiship outside first then apply to work with them, but as most of jag spraying is done by machine i doubt there is much spray work.
  5. extra quals show you to be hard working and willing to push yourself, not just someone who does the bare miniimum., personally H&S course bore the pants off me, but they are valued.
  6. jaguar and have lots of jobs going at the moment, 15 pages or so, most are engineering, but there might be some marketing ones going. and they are midlands based. don't know you're location though
  7. back in the day envy performance was your one stop shop. but it all went tits up and people got v annoyed. but all they did was advertise it and then when you wanted it get it shippe din form the US with their % ontop. to be honest Tarmac is the one to watch as his business grows and he gets more stuff in the options will grow. or if you want something specific i'm sure he is possibly one of the cheapest ways of getting it here.
  8. welcome to the Club, The zed does offer a good solid platform to start with if you are looking for a project car. the V6 is very smooth and the power delivery can be deceptive (can feel slower than its actually going) but like any car it has its faux pas, Weight is an issue at about 1.6 tons its not light, if you track your cars this will mean that she eats pads and discs quicker. but the weight can be combatted either with more power, or a diet. but the down side of the diet, does mean increased cabin noise. as for the power increase available the zed leaves it self to huge positives and negatives at the same time. Because its a good solid V6 it means that you can bump up from the stock 276 bhp to over 350 bhp without having to use a forged engine. i believe the engine is good for 400 bhp before you need a forged setup. but the down side of the engine is its not easy to tune if you keep it to NA people will spend £1000's to gain only 20-30 bhp where on other cars spending that money can see big gains. its very easy to strap an FI setup on it but as has been said you need to pay big money for it. what ever your plans are i wish you the best of luck, my usual advice is that if you want to work on something to gain better numbers then by something that came as FI from stock, but if you like the Zed's shape, engine etc and are happy to spend the cash needed to turn it in to what you want; then enjoy the process and i look forward to seein gyour build thread as it progresses.
  9. the way it reads to me is if it was fitted as standard and is now missing - then you need it back on. i.e. if you changed bumpers but didn't refit the washers then its a fail. or if you fit something after purchase then you need to make sure it meets guidlines i.e. if you fit HIDS to a car that didn't have them then it must also come with self levelling units and washers for the headlights. this to me means, that if your car has HID from the factory, but doesn't have washers because its a grey import then its fine as the equipment isn;t missing, it was never fitted in the first place. i think that makes sense
  10. is the clue not in the title? if its unpaid overtime how can it mean jobs for other people? its unpaid becuase they can;t afford more staff and people are having to do 2 peoples job in order to keep businesses going.
  11. if it reduces the light output then yes. but i thought that was already a fail on the MOT, the only thing i know of that is MOT legal is the Fly eyes kit as it isn't a tint but a mesh.
  12. No more cheap parts for you from now on he will still get cheap parts, really cheap parts really really cheap parts really really really really really really cheap brake lines; for making old people jokes
  13. only if the washers weren't refitted when the new bumper went on. its not a difficult job, my bodyshop refitted the washers on my nismo bumper when i swapped over.
  14. FRP = Fibre reinforced plastic slightly different from GRP = Glass Reinforced plastic all come under the same heading of fibre glass. FRP has a little more flex to it than GRP but still suffers similiar problems, my guess is the OP wanted something made from ABS which most car bumpers are made from
  15. they are fibre glass plain and simple yes the quality is better but its still fibre glass.
  16. i think the aerosync version is a plastic bumper ask stew he has one. but they aren't cheap
  17. sorry not a fan of the black ones, they look chavvy to me, but this is the whole issue, wheels are such a personal thing, one mans turd is another mans diamond
  18. didn't know uni's did that, sounds like a good idea.
  19. i did attempt an OU course a while back i ended up dropping it near the end, and resitting the year properly at a college. personally it didn't suit my learning style. but for many others it worked well. for me it felt very isolated and you are completely reliant on yourself, i felt i lacked support and it can be easy to get lost in all the paper work. but that doesn't mean to say its not a good option. i've never heard of ICS, but if i was to do an external learning qualification i'd be looking at the OU as their reputation is well regarded and they have been doing it a long time. one thing i've learnt in engineering is that its not just the qualification you hold, but where you got it from that counts. my degree in engineering is from coventry, a well regarded engineering uni. the worst thing you want to do is invest alot of hardwork and effort into something that turns out to be worthless when you decide to change profession. make sure the course is accredited by one of the big institutes like IMECH or IENG etc
  20. wouldn't touch japseye stuff with a barge pole, not since they tried to tell a customer there exhaust was straight and the car was wonky personally its the old adage of you get what you pay for. and in this case you will get an imported cheap chinese exhaust that will more thna likely require adjustment to fit, will possibly sit squint on the car, and posssibly require replacing in 3 years when its welds snap somewhere.
  21. i understand your pain jay, i wanted these for my zed when i had it, and i must admit my biggest regret of the car was going the cheaper option and just refurbed the rays. i wish i had spent the extra and bout the wheels i loved. but finances prevented it. i suppose the other option is to watch the american market and see if any come up second hand, but i think your more likely to get a seagull to poo gold on your shoulder. if you get them, get CS to roder you a set in shadow chrome, they look unbelievable. its not black, its not silver, a bit like a gunmetal colour but oh so much more stunning.
