New for 2016 Gran Turismo 6 Challenge Cup
Stutopia replied to jowen7448's topic in Off Topic Discussion
THREAD REVIVAL! I had bit of a play today coming up with the patented Three Mod, Three Car, Three Track Challenge. Three lightwieght grip machines, made even more lightweight and grippy. In fact, there's too much grip! The three permitted mods are: Big Brake Kit Stage 3 Weight Reduction Racing Soft Tyres The tracks and cars are: Cote d'Azure Renault Sport Clio V6 24v Circuito di Roma KTM X-Bow R '12 Trial Mountain Vauxhall VX220 Turbo The premise is simple, have you got the minerals to find the edge of grip? And can you save it when you take one step beyond? These are fearsome vehicles when pushing the very limits of physics. Going Topless - Anyone Really Loved A Convertible?
Stutopia replied to Stutopia's topic in Other Cars
Crikey, I had no idea these were so cheap (for a Porshce), they've probably got a less manly image than the MX5, but I imagine that matters not one jot when you're behind the wheel. -
MLB was way better than I expected, nice and dry and pretty effortless. Evans' screaming was massively irritating. I was surprised the dialogue didn't shift a jot tonally, the language used was kind of like a dubbed version of old New Top Gear. It's still early doors, they binned that fat fella off of old New Top Gear after Series 1 and the first few series it didn't pull up any ratings trees. More Sabine and, for god's sake, get Harris off the internet version and in something fast. In other news, I'm stunned social media isn't on board TG could've given away a car of choice to every single licence payer and the Clarkson fanboys would have been outraged. They'll already be well into third drafts of 5 star reviews for Amazon, complete with hilarious, you-just-can't-say-that-these-days quips

I'd love a TVR but they're a bit rich for me as a second car and I like working too much to have one as a daily. VX220 is another good shout -

I'm not against convertibles Dan, loved the Camaro in California and Louisiana. 6er is a good shout, especially with its V8ness. That Merc has elements of snipped hair, but I bet the engine soon puts that to bed. Another good one. Can't see the Maser on autotrader -
She's on holiday, leave her be. Make hay whilst the sun shines and enjoy the peace!

On one of the 8 days a year that it's sunny, I long for a roadster. The wing blowing over my skull, flies in my teeth and the constant fear of some scumbag slashing it open with a blade. I can't got 350 roadster as I'm Team Coupe and it's not a big enough change to warrant the outlay. 370 roadster seems like fun, but if I was to spend that amount, I'd be expecting back seats. Accordingly, the G37 convertible is my current favourite. MX5 always seem like the right choice, but if I have the roof off I want to be serenaded with V6 or V8 noises. BME 3 series, meh. Anyone owned and loved a convertible? Must be under 15k. Go!

I picked up a cheapo (£18) for iPhone the other day after seeing one in the office, only really messed around with demos (space/underwater etc) and short films/docos (VRSE) so far, not dabble in a game yet. For the money, it's been great fun. The image quality is a bit mince in comparison to doing things "properly" but really cool. Keep sharing the apps you've enjoyed please mate

This comes up regularly and I've now had two goes at it, so I thought I'd post up a thread with my experiences. I've heard anything from toothpaste to compound to metal polish can be used to clear up the hazing, and a variety of different approaches to sealing them. I'm hoping members will add in their methods and the products they've used. If you do, it'll be pinned as a superguide. I learnt some lessons from last time: 1 - Do use a dust sheet - or spend ages cleaning your engine bay afterwards 2 - Do have a stool to sit on while you work 3 - Do use a good UV sealant afterwards, or you'll be doing this annually 4 - Do be as aggressive as you dare 5 - Don't use this sealant (https://www.amazon.c...7038051_TE_dp_1) It's no good. The Problem This is how I finished up last time (Nov '14) And how it looked this morning. You can clearly see the hazing is back and looking awful. Masked up and ready to have a go. It looks so bad Clearing The Haze Last time I tried Meg's Ultimate Compound, also one of the soft paint menzerna cutting goops on a cutting pad, all attached to my basic Megs DA. I found that this took loads of passes and only the Megs ultimate got me anywhere, and even then, slowly. This time I put the soft paint stuff to one side and went in deep and hard first off, using some Poorbooys SSR-2 to prime the pad and add some lubrication, then a liberal topping of this. I already can hear the screams out there of putting this on a DA pad, but I wanted to mow down the hazing, not tickle it in to submission. Needless to say, one medium pressure pass dealt with it rather nicely Not sure how many mills of plastic I lost, but you can certainly tell the difference. I don't even need to say the one on the right is the tidied one. I couldn't get to all the tiny little buggers but they're innocuous at further than 6 inches away. I have turned up the definition quite severely on these images to pick them out. Both sides done, wiped down, dust sheets & masking away. UV Protection Having failed to protect them sufficiently well last time, I threw away the amazon offering and switched to EXO v2 this time. I didn't use this last time as it's a bit fussy about being applied outside and it needs to be kept dry for 6 hours and I have no garage, but I decided to wait for a very dry day and risk it. Dead easy to apply, just do it out of the sun and wear gloves and breathing equipment. Wipe down area with IPA (or Gyeon Prep in my case) Apply on the provided applicator pad in vertical lines Apply in horizontal lines Wait a few seconds Wipe off with a clean microfibre Flip the microfibre and wipe again Now do the other headlight Then go back and do a second coat on the first one Then go back and do a second coat on the second one Keep dry for 6 hours or more I might do a third coat on each tomorrow, if this weather holds. I'm assuming that the solvent colour/light effect (which wasn't there before) is evidence that this stuff is in place. How to vid for EXO: Anyway, that's my version two method. It's probably not as good as the 3 grades of sandpaper version I've seen but I'm not sure I have the minerals for that. Don't forget to throw away the pad if you put metal polish on it, I don't think it'll be any good for paint any more Pease do post up your methods, products and pics - ideally it would be good to have a few options for people, particularly one that doesn't involve a DA.

Ricey's gone crazy on lighting things up! I heard he's got halogens in the bathroom for getting ready in the morning

Wrinkles look good Gonna put them on the throttle body you?

Nice! You should go full JDM on its German ass. Giant rear view mirror, slash tips, massive bumper mounted intercooler, weather protectors, tints, keep it clean; it'll literally blow people's minds! Don't forget chopped sticker!

I got one! (And I'm not getting out of it)

I've always said, surviellance is a lot like making love to a beautiful woman. You don't mind getting naked when it's time for business, but I wouldn't want to walk around in the buff, even if it was always warm out. -

If you've not done anything wrong why would you object to total state surveillance? Said a spokesman for the Stasi, October 2nd, 1990. -
