I've hated the BBCs coverage much less than ITV. That's almost entirely down to Andy Townsend though! I actually enjoyed the coverage most when I was in France, couldn't understand a word of it France FTW.

That was 2 cylinder's worth? I've seen them do that in the Caribbean with an upturned bin lid She's got some skills

Big thanks to Si (Mondo @ Hide N Seat) for this small but quality bespoke leather job - great service My Zed is my daily and that means it gets commute use and occasional work trips away. Everyone knows that in the UK you should never be without your umbrella, regardless of season. Turning up soaked, is never a good look. After my last cheapo umbrella broke I thought I might find somewhere more convenient for my new gentleman's umbrella. So I sent some measurements and the idea to Si, who understood what I was after and made suggestions for improvements, including the rather fetching red stitching. Then he knocked these leather straps, with press studs, up for me. Which allowed me to do this The red fasteners are a bit too broad (my mistake), so I may have another look at getting something smaller but, other than that niggle, well chuffed with this smart little boot mod. Thanks Si.

My brother and I have both got our roofs wrapped in vinyl. He had some pretty nasty marks where some bird had decided to deposit its insides over his car, and because he was at work he was unable to clean it off until he got home, by which time it'd etched itself into the vinyl, similar to the photo you posted. We used some Meguiars Ultimate Compound by hand and majority of the marks came out, but using Scholl S20 Black removed the marks completely and removed any swirl marks from the wrap too, definitely worth giving it a go! You can get it from CleanYourCar here: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/car-polish-compounds/scholl-s20-black-1-step-compound/prod_1548.html But that's in a 1KG bottle which I have, and can honestly say I'll probably be 6ft under before I get to the bottom of it! You may be able to get smaller amounts from elsewhere! Good luck! Thanks for the suggestion Connor. I've got some Megs Ultimate Compound knocking about, but a strange thing happened... I've been away for a few weeks on my jollies so I've not had a chance to try and polish this out yet, but last weekend (after I got back) I grabbed a pad and got ready to have a go at it, mysteriously it had disappeared! Now I don't know if this is down to either: - a trick of the light when I was looking for the etching - the sheer volume of rain that's fallen whilst I've been away and it's been just the right PH to neutralise and lift it - if the new snow foam I've been using has had a go at it - if the triple concentrated shampooing it got last weekend has cleaned it off Whichever it is, it appears to be gone

He's the David Moyes to Clarkson's Ferguson, come into a role where it is impossible to satisfy the bulk of fans. The next lead presenter will just have to be better than Evans, not comparable Clarkson. I'd love to see Coogan do it.

Farage quits and this opens up. He could do the mindless Clarkson roll no problem

How does a uk based cat know what tiger dump smells like until it meets one, you know, face to face?

Fair enough, but the pace of change is so intense. It was only 1903 when man first flew something like 800 feet, 66 years later we'd been to the moon and back. The IBM chap who predicted there would be 5 computers ever, back in 1943, 70 years later, there's 5 within 15 feet of my bed To say anything is never going to happen... In terms of lawsuits, we already have legal disputes when accidents occur in drivered vehicles. Class actions when incidents occur now due to failed parts or faulty designs, recalls like GT3s catching fire or like the mass jap airbag screw up. There probably hasn't been a day in the last 25 years where someone isn't suing some other person/player/manufacturer in the automotive industry, yet they still carry on churning out new models and the industry goes on developing new features.

Not when we still have junctions, traffic lights etc Yes when we still have junctions, traffic lights etc Your counterpart, from even further back in time, would have objected in the same way when they first tried to take his horse off him. All it takes is coordination between vehicles, their navigation, traffic lights and you could choreograph in real time, away from blockages and into openings, making streets temporarily all one way or one way streets bi-directional, on demand to suit the time of day or a leaky water main. We're on day 1 now, there's no reason why this couldn't be in place on day 10,000.

Couldn't agree more with that. I do agree that driving should be a privilege, reserved for those that can be bothered. But I don't for a second think anyone is likely to turn around and toughen up legislation on people who drive as a chore/despite their health. If we've learnt anything recently it's that oldies vote
-
For those that don't get it, there are plenty drivers out there who take no pleasure from driving and some who are actively anxious about having to drive. Automating driving (particularly in rural environments) could eventually make driving much less of a chore/challenge for these people and should (on average) make them less of a menace. Automating it in cities, could eventually eliminate traffic jams. I think they've already done the math and confirmed that even with this fatality, Tesla are still ahead of the average "death rate' (every 90 million miles or so in the US). I can't see them banning it, unless driver caused death rates suddenly drop to zero! Not that that's really relevant as the driver does not appear to have been using it as instructed. So in that regard, it's no different to driving a regular car with your eyes closed or hands tied behind your back - he didn't even see an 18 wheeler coming!
