  1. I got stopped last year for 'speeding' but they didn't have a speed gun, just their own speedo (It was just the little local car, not traffic) and I refuted it so robustly they sort-of took it back, but they then spent about 40 minutes desperately DEPERATELY trying to find something on the car to do me for, and in the end I got a £60 fine for illegal spacing on my number plate. As jumping350 says, "Really lost faith in the police that day" as they just couldn't bring themselves to just let me go, saying that they'd heard me accelerating so knew I was driving too fast (even though I demonstrated the stainless exhaust and the sound it makes. ) When 2 coppers in a car back each other up, there's no way you can stop them, and they'll lie and do whatever it takes to fit you up rather than say "OK, sorry, Sir, off you go". Once upon a time I had huge sympathy for our police, difficult job with scant Thanks etc etc but when they abuse their power or forget that they're supposed to be fair and impartial . . . .I have to admit that now I have lost most of my respect for the Police, and suspect that their default position is to lie rather than admit any error or fault of their own. Ok, rant over. However, I suspect that the OP has absolutely zero chance of correctly refuting their claim, and has little choice but to take the penalty and rue the day when police in this country no longer uphold justice.
  2. Is that video of a 370, Mark? I thought it looked like an Infiniti (its an Infiniti logo on the engine cover) If so - you could ask Stanski if he wants one as he has a G37 iirc. I'd really like to know your prices for fitting in this country, as I thought about this for my 350 last year, but couldn't justify spending it on my car as it would have been more than my car is worth! The twin S/C just seems to make perfect sense on a V6 engine, though. I have this yearning for the G37 convertible (hardtop cc convertible) but it's going to be a few years away, yet! I looked at one for my 350 but their website said the 640 hp (stage 3, I think) was $9979 and that was in May last year when I looked, plus fitting costs, and that would be without all the other stuff to make the car handle 600 horses. (I still have my arithmetic of how much to ship the car to the East Coast - then drive 2781 miles (4476km) across the USA to get to GTM in California, and then drive it all back again inside a 10 day window - you know, just working out how much in my own little dreamworld !) Ah, well. . . . :cloud9:
  3. Ooooh. . . .Definitely want one of these - put me on the list, please!
  4. It's especially useful when you sell stuff to be able to go back and edit the title bar to "Now Sold" or something, saves people looking at stuff which isn't available any more
  5. Admiral didn't like my UpRev and remap and said they wouldn't cover me because of it (Eh? But that's what they said!) Got a reasonable quote from Adrian Flux but Sky just beat them. (Was with Adrian Flux 2 yrs ago, Sky last year and will stay Sky this year too)
  6. Drive to Santa Pod on a DWYB day (Drift What Ya Brung) Put them on the car - put 60 psi into them and go burn them off. It'll put a great big smile on your face!
  7. My son made me one of these, but then made a couple of spares. The silver ones are in 6082 aluminium - shiny one is highly polished and then anodised, the dull silver is just hard anodised. The white one is in Nylon. PM me if you're interested -
  8. My son made me one like this - but then made a couple of spares. Made in 6082 aluminium - the shiny one is highly polished and anodised, the dull silver is hard anodised, the white one is in Nylon - PM me an offer if you're interested
  9. Fluke I have 2 sets left from the time I made a batch in orange. Mine was 31 bolts in total - see the pics here. Mine were £45 or 50 per set but as I'm just trying to offload old stock I'd do you a deal (and anyone else as I have 2 sets) at £40 See the pics for what they're like & positions Apologies to Paddy for jumping in to his thread.
  10. I bought my Samco hoses from Demon Tweeks - had to wait a little while as they were made to order rather than being ex-stock, but you can get the air hoses as well as all the fluid ones so you can do the complete set. (Note the brake servo hose is one I made myself reinforced with aluminium liner to take the pressure)
  11. I drove a BRZ back in April 2013 and posted this - basically, quite liked it, but imho you'll definitely miss the torque and performance of the Zed. Of course, I only drove the standard stock car - if Tarmac has F/I then the extra poke would make quite a difference http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/70037-know-thine-enemy-%e2%80%93-i-mean-the-competition/ Initial reactions on driving it - the engine is willing and pulls well, the noise is reasonably satisfying when you accelerate (but not in the full stainless zorst leage on a 350) and she gets you up to - mildly in excess of the 70 limit - in good order. There's not much rear lumbar thrust, but it's only got 200 horses against our own approaching 300 - but the BRZ weighs only 1.2 tons so it's a bit lighter. I couldn't go wild as it was all done just pulling onto the motorway. Cornering seemed quite nice, went round a couple of roundabouts, at definitely faster than normal sensible driving so 50 plus - and she felt quite nice, pulled well when straightening back up to go back onto the motorway Anyway - driving wise, pretty good Internally - you'd only get in the back seats if you were a double amputee. There's no way this is a 4 seater - at most it's a 2+2 and the kids would need to be small as there's no legroom at all in the back unless you pul the front seats right forward. (Maybe a bit churlish to complain about rear seats as a Zed driver - when we haven't got any at all!) Room in the back is very tight too - I sat in just so see and my head was against the rear window - I'm only 5ft 9" so once again, only suitable for small children Boot was reasonable and the rear seats fold down easily so you have a good area. I only drove the basic model and it didn't have a sat nav - the mileage computer fuctions were very basic and you only get a single CD slot radio - so this was a bit minimalist, I thought. My son also had a drive and said he thought it was a bit 'letterbox' on the vision around - I hadn't noticed a problem but that was his comment Overall - I'm used to the characteristics in a Zed so she's not as quick - but for Mazda MX drivers or something it would be OK, overall feelinig was pretty good and the cabin felt quite nice. Would I buy one - if I was moving up from a smaller car, it would be OK, but compared to the Zed - I don't think so. Maybe they'll bring out an F/I version in a year or two, and that would (perhaps) be a different matter
  12. There's no info on that web page about refund on the tax when you sell it. Does this imply that DVLA won't give it back to you - or are they just hoping that sellers won't bother with the reclaim so they score the unused tax?
  13. I sent some of these ^^ to my brother yesterday - he sent the list below back, so I thought I'd share with the rest of you ! Describe yourself in one word... "Bad with numbers" What's the difference between red and green? F***-all, apparently, if you're a cyclist. If I had a penny for every time someone told me I might have Asperger's, I'd have £73.41. What do you say to a woman with two black eyes? Nothing. You've told her twice already. I'm brilliant at Jigsaws. I did one that said '2-3 Years' on the Box and did it in one night - how amazing is that?! A priest, a paedophile and a rapist walk into a bar. He orders a beer. I went for a job interview as a scuba diving instructor yesterday. The guy interviewing me said, "This is not a good start, you look ridiculous." The police rang me yesterday to say they'd recovered my stolen three piece suite. Which was nice of them. It was starting to look a bit tatty. I can't get my new front door to work. There's no room for it on my motorbike. Some guy knocked on my door today and said, "I have a parcel for your next door neighbour." I said, "You've got the wrong house then mate." I was in a queue at the ATM, and the old lady in front of me asked if I could help her check her balance. So I pushed her over. My wife told me I can be a right bastard sometimes, so I chose Mondays and Wednesdays... I had a crazy dream that I weighed less than a thousandth of a gram. I was like, 0mg! Maths puns are the first sine of madness.
  14. Canal Street is only interesting if you're umm . . .umm . . .playing for the other team Apart from evening stuff - Airkix is quite fun if you fancy skydiving or Chill Factor-e for indoor skiing, and there's always the golf range. (All these out by the Trafford Centre) There's a couple of Comedy Club places too, to add a bit of variety to the evening rather than just eating & drinking (1 down near Oxford St station and one up (Slug & Lettuce? Not sure, now) by the northern quarter.
  15. I reckon I've got the range of motoring requirements covered with the Zed for the nice days (even today - came back to Manchester from Sheffield over the Snake Pass in reasonable / nice weather with the top open!) but a Toyota Hilux for the grotty weather and the times I need to carry a wardrobe or a fridge! In times gone by we got my ex a Suzuki Jimny and I really liked that, too, easy and comfortable, and the 4WD handled some awful conditions pretty well In an aside note - I came back from Dorset about a month ago in the Zed and the puddles were 4" deep in places and even taking it carefully there were times when the water came over the bonnet as solid green, not just spray - the Zed never missed a beat. I was impressed . . . .
  16. Been crazy busy so not been on here for a coupla weeks - anyway here's me on holiday in Tenerife last year and at Silverstone in 2012
  17. When the icecap melts and the sea level rises by 5.5metres, you're going to need wellies, then!
  18. ^^ What he said It's really good to be able to change to soft settings when you're just taking the gf out for a Sunday gentle run to a nice pub in the countryside - (Looking forward to this again when the xx-xxy rains stops) but also wind up to really firm when you're having a spirited run round a circuit on a track day. Even if the extremes above don't apply - it's funny but if you're out for a slightly-more-vigorous-than-usual run by yourself - pull over, click the suspension up a few notches and you can feel the difference, but then - click down again on the way home so back to normal for the daily drive in the week.
  19. I'm not Scottish - I'm English. i) If Scotland leaves, this means all the Scottish MPs leave, too - and as they're either SNP or Labour, this means the Tories will stay in power in Westminster pretty well for ever. ii) I'd be quite happy for Scotland to leave, provided they don't expect the rest of England to pay anything. I mean - ANYTHING. They're welcome to keep any and all revenues from the North Sea, and all taxes raised in Scotland (obviously) but any monies raised south of the border STAY south of the border iii) In the same way - I'm happy for the Scots to have free education, free prescriptions - hey, they can have whatever they like - just not on my taxes, thank you very much. I have every anticipation that English Tax rates will drop about 5% when we're not subsidising Scotland any more In summary - beware of what you wish for - you may well get it - but then you've got to pay for it all. Welcome to the big world.
  20. Do you think you could get me a GTM twin supercharger kit in, hidden in your suitcase? They're based in Rancho Cucamonga in California, just swing by and hide it in with your dirty laundry . . . . (Stage 3 system = 640 horses. . . .ooooh . . . . )
