    Gear Knob

Brushed silver with grip grooves - it's not a branded design as my son made it for me and so made a spare or two - PM me if you want one. (Theres a brushed and anodised one, a polished and very lightly anodised on and a nylon one here)
  2. I used the Chips Away in Stockport and although initially I was pleased with the results, over about a year the paint seemed to go slightly dull and not have the same gloss as the original paint. Maybe it just needed T cutting but I felt they'd not used the same sort of paint or not quite matched it properly. I don't think I'd use them again
  3. About 3 years ago I added some silvered edges to the 3 bars in the grille on my Zed, using trim I bought from Halfrauds. May not be to everyones taste, but I liked it. However, after 3 years the cheapo rubbish had lost it's silver, and was just scruffy mottled white with the odd bit of silver here and there. . . . .(not sure if you can see it in this shot, but didn't take one close up) Anyway - couldn't strip it off 'cos it was well stuck on, but with the assistance of a certain gentleman of Perth - changed to a Zunsport grille, and am very pleased with the result - Here's the scruffy 'before' and here's the 'after' ( . . . . . . )
  4. Looking at this - it pretty much means any post from SMD is prohibited when I log on at work!
  5. It's my business, so I am the boss! However, I am aware that my employees have to follow the 'Employee Handbook' which states 1. No connection to the Internet is permitted unless authorised by the Managing Director. 2. The System Administrator may limit the size of e-mail enclosures. 3. Files received via the Internet will not be opened without performing a virus scan using an IS approved and licensed software package. 4. Installation of web server software or any software on any PC owned by Asgard Engineering without IS review and approval is prohibited. 5. Connection to web sites or USENET Groups related to sex, illegal drugs, criminal skills, hate speech, on-line gambling, sports, entertainment, on-line merchandising, humour, or job search is prohibited. 6. Downloading any file from a non-approved FTP site is prohibited So, by my reckoning - point 1 is satisfied as I'm the boss and as long as nobody on here talks about sex, sports, entertainment or humour then I can get away with point 5 as well!!
  6. I had a Vanden Plas Ambassador as a company car and it was very comfortable, I really liked it! It was my very first company car, when I was still young and full of enthusiasm. One of my colleagues had an SDI Rover 3500 and it spent more time in the garage than on the road, but my Ambassador was fine - and yes, it had the hydrolastic suspension. Of course this was around 1984 or so. . . . . Now I'm just full of cynicism! Ah, well.
  7. Sounds like the fans, then - I had this happen early in my Zeds life and before I found this forum. It may even be that on your return drive home, if you were driving normally, you didn't get any faults as normal airflow will have kept you cool enough - it's only when you hit traffic and you need the fans to really keep the airflow up that you have problems. I paid £600 at a main stealer but there are a couple of traders on here who do Mishimoto ( iirc) at a fraction of this and if you fit them yourself its in the £100 or so range I can't remember who the trader is, sorry about that, but several people have had this so hopefully you'll find it in 'search'
  8. Bad news - feel REALLY gutted for the poor guy who sold his bike Good news - the average level of the gene pool has gone up as we lose the lowlife who killed himself whilst banned
  9. Firstly - try Zmanalex, or Clarks both up in the far frozen north and both traders on here, very knowledgeable and helpful. If they come up empty - 2 people in the Northwest who break 350Zs and sell off the parts: Dewsbury Auto Salvage Ltd 01924 466666 - in Dewsbury (No, really?) Hills Salvage and Recycling Ltd 01695 551973 - in Skelmersdale Downside with these guys is they know absolutely jack about 350Z and you may struggle to get them to understand the part you're looking for (Edit - meant to add that Hills were the better of the 2 - I emailed them a photo and then called the guy back an hour later and they'd searched their stock to try and find something for me) Good Luck
  10. Normally when they bring in JDM cars then VOSA will convert the speedo to mph - even if they leave the dial the same it should have been converted to mph However, if it wasn't brought in by a dealer and an individual imported her, you might have an issue as cars in Japan are limited to 112mph (I think, perhaps someone else can confirm this) so a 180kph speedo may be the usual Japanese issue one. This normally works out OK, provided the speedo has been re-set by VOSA on import as the usual max for the cars (when the limiter is removed) is 155 to 160mph and that fits pretty well on a 180 max dial. First thing is to check your speedo is reading correctly - if you have to convert kph to mph in your head all the time you're going to have plod on your back bumper if you make an arithmetic error.
  11. I miss my 1973 Saab 96, great car, only sold it when we enlarged the family from 2 kids to 3 . . . . V4 1500cc so not really that quick, but good to drive (column gear change and free wheel (hangover from the old 2 stroke Saabs))
  12. Mark et al A couple of years ago after you'd finished remapping her with the plenum spacer & the Berks and the full exhaust, you said something like "a coupe will normally achieve something over 160 but in a convertible you may not quite get that" Well, on the German Autobahn on Sunday morning, fine, clear and dry, roads almost empty as we left early, I let her build to give me everything she had. Ended up with an indicated 177 but showing 160 on the Sat Nav, and she was holding that for several minutes. I'm not sure she had anything more but the pedal was not quite hard against the floor. Anyway - holding 160 on the Sat Nav for several minutes counts as a result to me - so Thanks very much all at Abbey Motorsport. By the way - this is what I went for on the weekend -
  13. Don't need these any more - Zmanalex came up trumps! Mods - feel free to lock this thread
  14. Last weekend I was travelling south on the joyous major artery known as the M6. My son was reading a 1990 'Performance Ford' magazine (given to him by a neighbour clearing out his back room preparatory to moving) I have attached the scan of the magazine but the relevant section says:- "The low spots [of 1989] have been virtually every time that I have had to go on the M1, M5, M6 or M25. All four are hopelessly inadequate, and deeperately need to be widenend; even as I write Steve Wright is on Radio One with news of a 16 mile tailback on the M6 and a similar one hold-up on the M25 . . . ." Maybe it's me but I fail to understand how any agency (Dept of Transport / Highways Agency) can be so poorly managed and have so poor a record that after 25 years ( 25 YEARS!!) they have not progressed to any sort of solution. Ah well, rant over, no doubt it will all be the same in another 25 years but by then we'll all be in a queue of robot controlled 3 cylinder diesels and all doing 50mph for fuel efficiency and the beloved Health and Safety - you know, the sort of driving experience we all love and relish. (Sorry about that lst bit of vituperation)

Edited after trying (to make sure it worked - ( Oops) Sorry, link in full won't work - go to http://www.manapremi...used-car-search and then enter the search criteria of G37
  16. Following your link to the Nissan website - the roadsters don't seem to be on the list. Does this mean that they're not bringing roadsters over any more? :scare:
  17. It will be 5 years on 3rd August - loved every minute and not planning on a car change any time soon . . . . . . though there may well be a few other changes when my zeditis needs scratching . . . .
  18. Depending on where you think the rattle4 originates - and who made your new exhaust. When I fitted my Japspeed K2 exhaust it rattled quite badly until we traced it and put a screw in to stop it - obviously Japspeed quality deficiencies were the root of this problem. . . . .
  19. Aidan You'd get something over £100 for the cats from the scrap man, the platinum is worth more than you're asking! (Unless you're just trying to help another Zed owner?)
  20. When my ex had a bad hair day, she'd solve it by going shopping. This mainly resulted in my Credit Card getting pounded - activities ranged from a New Hairdo to new crockery or a new dress (Of course with handbag, and shoes.) I've had a gruelling couple of weeks, but today (as part of my birthday present) my son paid for my 350 to have a full valet. She's now beautifully clean, both inside and out, and as I sat in her to put her away after the guy finished, I could feel the lift to the soul that comes from sitting there in her pristine glory and with that fresh smell of cleaners (with a slight hint of the new freshener they always dangle from your mirror.) I think we should recommend this as a cure for depression, you can't help but feel better for it, and the smile just creeps round your face and the spirits climb . . . . ( I've not felt the effects in my other cars, so not sure if the NHS would stand for issuing 350Zs to all clinically depressed people, though)
  21. Another Happy Customer Catch arrived today, I installed it tonight, will mail the old scruffy one back tomorrow - Thanks, Mark. After : Before:
  22. Spitfire and Hurricane did 3 passes over the race track on Saturday, sounded great and the weather had cleared so got great view
  23. I bought some of these grubscrew locking caps off Ebay but left them on the wheels over the winter as I had my winter set on Come this spring, had all sorts of grief getting them off as the grubscrews had rusted solid. So - I suggest you swap the grubscrews for stainless ones - or at least take them out if you put the wheels into storage over winter!
