  1. Once you've got the CF cooling panel - a shiny bonnet catch goes really well with it http://www.350z-uk.c...789__hl__bonnet
  2. Have a look at this - http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/100948-350z-gt-convertible-200505-immaculate-low-mileage-example-6-995/
  3. JDM cars also come with power reductions built in in the lower gears - you only get 70% power iin 1st, 80% in 2nd and 90% in 3rd - it's the Jap regulations trying to stop people racing at traffic lights. If you get her re-mapped - (depending on where you are, you could also use Abbey Motorsport in Oxted, Surrey) - these restrictions are also removed. I was never that bothered about the 100% power in 1st but the 2nd and 3rd gear improvements are a real benefit, especially when overtaking
  4. I suspect that the OP knows the answer to his question - there have been a few threads along the lines of "I've bought this xxx - it was cheap but doesn't really fit / tyres don't grip etc I'm not a psychologist but I suspect it's - "I know I've been a twit - I've been stitched by someone selling inferior or knock-off goods - now stroke me and tell me it'll all be OK. (Rather than admit I was cheap and I should have bought the proper item for the job) " The real answer is - "Do you want to accept compromise / potentially damage your car / crash on cheap tyres / other unpleasant scenario?" or - "Is it worth doing it right? Are you saving enough to make it worth risking your engine / car / life?" If the answer to any of these is "I don't want to risk it" then - buy decent tyres / get it serviced by someone who knows what they're doing / spend that extra couple of quid, and make the most of your HIGH PERFORMANCE car where you really don't want to cut corners. Alternatively - if you haven't got the budget, perhaps you should consider whether you want to risk 300 horsepower and £x000 investment in machinery and go look at something more economical. (Now awaits flaming for being snotty, but - as I said - I suspect the OP really knows the answer already and just wanted a nice fluffy stroking to say it would be OK - when it won't
  5. Doesn't have to be on a track - drive to Ramsgate, then travel about 200 miles south east . . . . . it's called Germany. No limits -
  6. You have a couple of options, but I'd suggest you need to think about whether you're going to add or mod anything on the car before you select your route - If you're not going to modify the car any more, you can fit an HKS Defenser which is an add-on chip which will overcome the JDM limiter. Last I heard Zman had one to sell which he'd taken off a car of his. . . . However, if you think you may modify the car with exhaust systems or a plenum spacer or other mods - then follow the UpRev route as Mudman suggested. Note, to get the maximum benefit from these other mods, do them first and then tune the car - but it works also with Uprev it to remove the limit, and you'll see benefits straight away - if you subsequently do other mods, you can then re-tune tha car to maximise the gains each time. I went the UpRev route, then did other changes, and each time I had her re-tuned, probably did this 4 times, I think. I used Abbey Motorsport in Oxted and found them absolutely first class, in terms of knowledge, care and attention to the car, and customer service. (Other folks have used Horsham with glowing reports) The biggest expense with UpRev is the licence cost for the tuning package (I think Abbey are doing a special at the moment of £400 ish for the basic tuning) but once you've done this first stage, you can go back as many times as you need after each mod you add and then you pay only for the time they spend on it, so it's more reasonable for the subsequent visits. But - to go back to step one - buying an HKS Defenser is a cheaper route (a couple of hundred quid, iirc) if you just want the limit removed without ongoing mod & upgrade options. (If you buy the one from Alex you're also assured of first class help in explaining how to fit it etc and as it's his old one he's normally very good with fair pricing)
  7. Apart from the (several) threads on here about how they driive with complete disregard for any 'Rules of the Road' . . . . When did cyclists conclude that riding on the pavements was a good idea? When I was young (Yes, I know, a long time ago) like around 5 or 6, when you were riding your little bike with the stabilisers on the pavement - you wanted to grow up and ride where all the big boys did, on the road. So, you did your Cycling Proficiency, you practiced, and when Mum and Dad said you were good enough, you graduated to riding on the road, and then at about 11 you maybe rode to school . . . . on the roads. So, when did it become the norm for . . . .umm . . . .youths (expletive deleted) to ride on the pavement? I take my dog to the park most mornings, including a couple of sections where the footpath goes through cuttings, the signs of "No Cycling" are pretty old and rusty, but they're there . . . . . and when this hoody wearing moron hurtles through, and I express some discontent to him, you can guess - all I get is a tirade of abuse. And so - can anyone tell me when it became OK for cyclists to ride on the pavement? (If he hits me, I'll just shoulder charge him off his damn bike. If he hits my Bonnie he's gonna get his bike inserted into an orifice where the sun doesn't shine . . . . . .)
  8. Having bought a set of Rays off another forum member, the wheels were a bit 'tired' so tidied up the kerb damage and marks, and took them to Ashton Powder Coating for a new coat - They were very reasonable (£40 for shotblast, powder coat, and lacquer if they were just wheels - £50 if they have to take the tyres off) and the choice of colours is great - http://www.ashtonpowdercoating.co.uk/ I opted for the graphite grey with a metallic flake 'sparkle' . . . . I came so close to Candy Red but I'm afraid I bottled it and went for more a conventional colour! I had spent a Saturday morning cleaning the wheels before taking them, though the guy said I hadn't needed to bother as his shotblast takes everything off. I guess the only other thing is - can anyone photoshop me in some hair, please . . . . .
  9. Saw this - thought it might be useful for someone - Standard Nissan 350z exhaust Y-pipe. The braided steel covering the flexi joints are worn through in places but flexi joints are good with no leaks. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-350Z-Y-Pipe-/151777120691?hash=item23569f11b3
  10. I have one of these and it's worked well in the Zed. Tried it in a Mercedes and didn't connect, though
  11. Don't fit this - I'd suggest you get the car UpReved instead (TDi North / Abbey Motorsport) i) you'll de-limit the car ii) you'll gain full power in the 1st 3 gears iii) you'll have a better base for any subsequent mods you may do Of course, I'm biased, as this is the way i did it ! Oh, and iv) Have a good day on the track and enjoy yourself!
  12. You could use AAM Competition HFCs Either import them yourself or Tarmac carries some of their stuff
  13. Mods - I didn't put this in "For Sale" because I'm not selling it and it doesn't seem to be too realistic to put it as For Sale - but move it if you think it better! Anyway - my son saw this in the September issue of Classic & Sports Cars, thought someone on here might want it ! All I can say is - I think it a tad overpriced! Actually - edit the post - it might only be 9800 miles, but . . . .needs new clutch, probably!
  14. Looks very nice . . . . . .but now you gotta change your sig picture!
  15. I drove a roadster for 5 years, including 2 trips to Nurburging as well as track days at Oulton and Anglesey You'll not feel any appreciable flexing Provided you look after your roof (periodic lubrication, care and attention to the fabric etc) you'll not encounter any problems (unless you put the roof down in freezing temperatures) Online research is all very well - read background stuff and see what peolpe say, but the only real experience that counts is the full on 3D real life stuff. Doing a trackday with the roof off is a whole different level of sensory experience. You've read a bit - now go and feel the real thing. It's like sex with a Durex on - Coupes are all very well but there are times you've just got to get the lid off.
  16. It's a bit academic for the UK - AFAIK they're not selling new 370 Roadsters in the UK at all . . . . . . " . . . . .Too low volumes, not worth our while maintaining the range . . . ." Maybe someone on here with dealer connections can confirm / refute this?
  17. I went to the Anglesey meet, had a great time, they're a good bunch of people - I still have the Tee shirt ! Only thing is they seem to like driving sideways . . . . . . . Would love to come, need to check the diary.
  18. Found this on another forum and thought it was of interest - a bit simplistic, maybe, but a valid comment for the times to come (In about 4 months) https://www.youtube....d&v=L2wTg0l3_wI In similar vein - only 20 weeks to go until Christmas!
  19. Welcome A couple of things you'll need to be aware of - 1) Zeditis is a very cruel disease 2) you'll really REALLY enjoy it Then - 2 things you need to do - 1) change the exhaust. The car is brilliant but you can't hear it properly, so change the exhaust so you can 2) You don't buy a 3½ litre sportcar if you're a green tree hugger. New Euro norm emissions are there to rob you of any motoring enjoyment - so get used to the fact that you're gonna make some emissions and then take it to one of the serious tuners (several on here, Abbey, Horsham, TDi North) and get it UpReved. You'll feel the difference it makes, and the extra response will put a smile on your face which won't come off for at least 3 months. And finally - for some reason I've never understood - the motoring press rarely give the car the credit or the write-ups it deserves. Don't worry about that - just be pleased that you're in on a BIG secret, enjoy it, and let all the little motor journalists live happily in their own boring world of GT86s or whatever fluffy little kitten is their vehicle of choice, and you can enjoy your 320 horses in your own way.
  20. If there's no-one local who can lend you one - I have a spare from the times when I had code issues, so could mail it down next week if that helps PM me with adress details etc if you need to borrow it (Have to wait until Monday earliest as it's in a box at work)
  21. I took my Fairlady Z off the back ages ago, I'll have a look and let you know if I can find it It's just a loose collection of letters, though, it'll take you a bit of work to get them all level and spaced properly! Ian
  22. I bought some plain centre caps from here - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301650451671?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT They haven't arrived yet so can't comment on whether they're good / bad / indifferent (yet)
  23. Very good day, weather was excellent, i'd recommend this as a venue for an entertaining day out - One (minor) hiccough on the Esses, this guy was really trying and overcooked it slightly - luckily no injury and only minor damage
  24. My son does some of the marketing for Shelsley Walsh and has free tickets for this w/e (as it's the Best of British Hill Climb w/e) Free tickets =
