  1. Just ordered 2 - will give one to my son to mount on his RC car
  2. Just to say SuperStu is first iin the queue for the final red set (with Pagey on standby if SuperStu should miss or pass) so I think it's fair to say - Red Set has gone Still have 3 sets of orange ones left, and when they're gone - they're gone (unless cs2000 wants 20 sets, which he's pondering . . . .) Ian
  3. I only have a few orange sets and one set in red - PM me if of interest
  4. Look what I got in the mail the other day! Thanks very much to Two Bears!
  5. I found that the polished aluminium lost it's shine after being on the engine for a few months - and as I'm essentially idle, having to polish it every 3 months sort of lost it's charm, so I had mine chrome plated, and now all it needs it a light dusting! Of course, chrome plating costs about £50 but it saves on polish!
  6. My ex still has her Jimny and I was really impressed with how well it handled pretty well anything Of course, it's only 3 doors
  7. Get your car UpRev remapped (Abbey do a sterling job of this) and it removes the limits in the lower gears
  8. You do need to get them HOT before they'll pass the MOT - when cold they're not functioning at the level required for the emissions First time mine failed the MOT I told the guy to go and give her a hard run for 20 minutes and she sailed through then - you need to emphasize that to your MOT station.
  9. Speed should be related to the conditions and the driver skill. I know some people I'd not trust to drive my granny down to the shops - but if you prove the ability - I'd suggest something like 3 different bands - default means you drive at current speeds (as directed by the current signs) but if you pass an additional test (and you'd have to pay a fee for taking a second test) and you pass - you're given say, blue number plates and you can drive at 20mph above the mimits Take 3rd test and win red plates, you're allowed 40mph above limits The test should be realistic - and only apply in fine conditions (driving at high speed in rain = unsafe) I genuinely believe there are some people unsafe at even the current speeds but drivers with proven skill levels are safe at higher than the current limits. (Consider - police can exceed the limits in certain conditions beause they have the training / skill and are in properly maintained and safe vehicles - I see no reason why I shouldn't be included in this catagory. (I'm a member of the IAM, for instance)) So - pass the test, prove the adequacy of your vehicle - qualify for higher speed travel. Of course, the chances of this happening are about the same as me being elected pope (and I'm CofE !!!) and I am convinced that the world will be dictated to by the "All divers of sports cars should be lobotomised" brigade and I also believe that we'll all be FORCED into self driving cars to follow behind 1.0 eco-diesel micocars at with zero driver control, so in the end you'll feel like lobotomising yourself, but hey, the OP asked the question. As a matter of interest, i also think you should be allowed to take a 3rd test where you qualify for an automatic shotgun so you'd be allowed to blow away those stupid numpties that get in your way and dither about right turns at junctions and drive at 50mph in the middle lane, but, there you go, I know that aint gonna happen, either!
  10. I have a Japspeed K2 backbox (on a japspeed mid section) and although the fit was not great, you can normally sort it with a bit of bending and tweaking of the hangers etc This does demand i) you're not a complete numpty and ii) you NEED to do this on a lift as you need to get right underneath and be able to get a bar on to the hangers etc - there's no way you could get the leverage if you're trying to grovel underneath with zero groundclearance But after a bit of heaving and ho-ing you'll probably get it on, and it sounds pretty good (mind you mines a stainless all through system and then I put Berks Cats on her as well)
  11. Chris - on an engineering point - your site says "M12 x 1.25 inch Thread Size" on the Nissan version I think you mean they are M12 x 1.25mm pitch, rather than 1.25 inch (The Honda / Mits is probably M12 x 1.5 mm pitch as well, rather than 1.5 inch) Sorry to be picky . . . .but we gotta get the engineering right as well as the looks! Ian
  12. What manufacturer is that, Aidan? And - what did it cost you? I've looked at rear spoliers a couple of times but not seen anything that looked right - yours looks the closest to 'right' I've seen - Cheers, Ian
  13. Jason Statham just opened up the bag and let her out . . .
  14. Jez Got a couple of pictures of this on Saturday - Got a shot or two of you in the Zed as well - here's the one I think looks best Weather and track were pretty close to perfect - but my tyres lost about 2mm off the rears and that's without some of Dan's (Ekona's) little sideways entertainments!
  15. I would definitely suggest you drive in a shed or at least in a car you don't care about. Knocks and bumps are just routine - including if you park it somewhere you'll get back and find it scraped, or moved (sometimes they'll have bumped your end round to get past you but they don't put it back and you return to find your nose sticking 3ft into the middle of the road, or something) :scare: The other thing is - you'll need nerves of steel and it is ESSENTIAL you know where you're going - he who hesitates is not only lost but hung drawn and quartered, too . . . If you have to drive, it's better before 5:30 in the morning, and I'd not try it again until about 1:30 so you've got a pretty tight window to venture out -
  16. No, I think he's gone to a 200SX
  17. I changed my JDM plate for a UK style a while ago - I think I still have the backing plate, send me a PM if you need it
  18. I don't think Tarmac has any left - but I made them for him (have a look at www.AsgardEngineering.co.uk for a look at my machines) and I have a set of red ones. Cost is £50 including post - PM me with your details
  19. KuroKiddo - how's your exhaust? Did you make it home without deafening anybody?
  20. Spent the day at Anglesey trackday after Docwra posted the invite for members here to enjoy the SXOC weekend special Fantastic weather, great day in great company, they were all really friendly and the circuit on Anglesey was fun to drive. Attached is a video and a few pictures - (right at the very end is a SX200 in a funny colour - took this just for the people on here of the green persuasion) 1st shot is Docwra's car (in his usual understated fashion) then there's shots of Ekonas MX5 with another couple of Zeds too - also included a shot of a V8 implanted into a 200SX but he melted his power steering container and suffered a fire (OUCH! ) and an SX going miildly sideways Thanks to the SXOC for their fantastic hospitality My video (about 5 mins)
  21. In time I'm sure these will take over More immediately is the pressure from insurers to fit your little black box which will log those occasions when there's nobody around and you give her a spirited run at 2:30 in the morning - but the system will log all the instances and your premium will rise. . . and rise. . . They're just trying to kill any joy or fun in driving, based on the (flawed) logic that "speed kills" I think it's poor driving without adequate training which is dangerous, but they're going to apply the law to the 'lowest-common-denominator'. When 90% of the population are idiots - they have to base the assessments on that, so the ones who have the skill or ability are all 'ouside-the-norm'. But in time (and I think it will be in our driving lifetimes) they'll make cars which drive themselves, at 30 mph, at 45m from the guy in front, all controlled by radar and computers, and you'll be stuck with this - between 2 little 1 litre eco-diesels And - like Jack Nicholson in One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest - if you show any spirirt, or rebel against the Driving Establishment you'll be imprisoned or lobotomised. I genuinely think we're the last generation who'll get any entertaining motoring. So - make the most of it while you can.
  22. Can't comment on any other manufacturer other than BC Racing as that what I had fitted. (Acknowledgement to Ekona and his psychology, too) I've been very pleased with mine, the adjustment is very easy and it's nice to be able to adjust the ride to suit your driving. I have to admit to being lazy and tent to only stiffen her up when I know I'll be driving vigorously, and back again afterwards, so I probably only use 2 or 3 settings which I've refined as my 'favourites' after various trials.
  23. Look at my sig and my avatar and you'll see I'm slightly biased . . . . . But I'd never go back to a tin lid on the car again There are more days than you realise when you can enjoy the fresh air going topless, and you get much more from your driving with the wind in your hair (or over the top of your bald patch in my case) Even when it's only 3 or 4 Centigrade but it's sunny - it's just so nice to go for a run in the sunshine (The roof doesn't like negative temperatures and won't open properly, so don't try it below zero) You can hear your exhaust so much better in the tunnels when the roof is missing (Note - requires stainless exhaust mod for this to work - even better with Berks too) You can fit a set of golf clubs in a roadster - there's even a little schematic in the boot to show you how to fit them in In cold weather etc there's no worries as the roof fits well and the heater works well - never felt anything other than snug even in really freezing weather There is one downside - she's definitely more noisy than coupes (even with the roof up you get noise off the 'ears' where the roof fits) When you're doing . . .ummmmm . . .around the legal maximum speed . . . ummm . . .with the roof off - you can't hear the stereo unless you have it REALLY WOUND UP LOUD But overall - go topless, and you'll never look back
  24. I don't think you should leave it to chance - people who drive like that deserve summary execution on the hard shoulder before they cause any other grief to anyone else
