  1. Most garages are OK unless you're lowered Welcome to the Zed world
  2. I used one for ages, it's especially good if you're doing any spirited driving, and I really liked the secure feeling it gave when you had no sliding room at all and were really tight with the car However after using it all the time for about 2 years it fell apart - but I bought mine off fleabay so it wasn't new Since then I've relied on 18st bulk simply wedging me into the shaped seats. . . .
  3. According to a Gallop poll held today, 50% of people said they'd still eat Tesco burgers
  4. Not quite right with this i spent the weekent at Lancaster Golf club and got 2 x golf bags and two weekend bags in the boot. A bit of a squeeze but possible. You might get 2 bags in a standard coupe, but you DEFINITELY WILL NOT GET 2 FULL SIZED BAGS IN A ROADSTER You MIGHT get 2 half set bags or 2 lightweight bags in - and you might get 2 full bags in a coupe but you won't get 2 full sizebags in a ROADSTER because I've tried Sorry to be a bit strident here . . . . but I do have a ragtop Zed . . . . . Happy New Year to all and all other mollifying platitudes . . . .
  5. Red, Blue or Orange engine bay bolt sets available if anybody wants them in 'standard' colours
  6. Golf clubs do fit, but only 1 bag, as it only fits because of a side 'pocket' which is about 10" (Sorry - 250mm) square by about 6" (150mm) deep and you have to shuffle the bag in If you and the Mrs want to play you won't get 2 bags in
  7. Obviously they haven't got their slam shield from the forum as ther's no member name on it
  8. So many negative posts on this thread - wow! What a shame! I went in October 2012 and loved it. The whole object of owning a car like a 350Z is to DRIVE IT - of course you can rent a GT 86 there - or even a Suzuki Swift as they're cheaper - but I come back to my start point - the whole object of owning a car like a 350Z is to DRIVE IT Of course - it needs to be properly maintained, if you're driving a car at over 100mph in anything other than good condition, then you're an idiot Of course - you need to drive within your limits and the limits of the road and conditions. Rayhoop admits it was driver error which made him crash - As Clint Eastwood said on Dirty Harry - "Man's got to know his limitations" and Yes, you want to push it a bit but there's no way I'd push it to the extent where you spin off, writing off £x,000 of car and not being able to get home and all the rest of the grief is. . . .well, as point 1 above - '. . . .then you're an idiot' Drive fast, but within your limits and it's great fun. Costs - I prefer to sleep on the ferry so you start fresh at 7:30 on the continent - so went Hull - Rotterdam, Ferry price including cabin was £121.50 plus food etc about £30 Hotel about 10km from the ring was €117 for 3 nights - plus food so around another £40 on top Came back through the tunnel £75 Fuel - depends on how you drive, I did about 600 miles, but got 30mpg overall even in the Zed as you're cruising at speed and it's the acceleration / deceleration which eats the fuel I'd recommend it to anyone, and I'd only want to drive the ring in my own Zed, not interested in doing it in a Suzuki Swift, I'm afraid. I'd also suggest you drive the ring EARLY mornings because there's a lot of 'Richard Craniums' out there and 3 of my "4 laps for €95" I had to slow for yellow flags when said D_ck H_eads spun off and crashed, so you need to drive it with as light traffic as you can manage to avoid them. And after that - enjoy it! ( And, by the way, after 4 laps driven with vigour, my Zed felt more alert than she'd been for ages. They say you need to blow the cobwebs out of her from time to time and that worked for me - (or maybe the learning ECU adapted to a new driving style?) Anyway - she felt fantastic for at least 1000 miles after I got back) Edited to include insurance - you MUST check your insurance covers you in Europe, but after that, The Ring is just a German Toll road and if you're covered in Germany, you're covered on The Ring. UNLESS you're 'racing' and that means - if you have a stopwatch on, you're racing - so your insurance is invalid. (Well, that's what i) The Ring told me and ii) I checked with Admiral before I went)
  9. Keep your eyes open as speed cameras in France are all signposted about 1km in advance. And they don't communicate with DVLA so if they take your photo you won't get any nasty letters. However, if the Gendarmes clock you they sit and wait at the next Payage tollbooth, and they get pretty unhappy with you Have you thought about going down over the Massif so you go over the Millau Viaduct? Have a good trip!
  10. Arrived all safe and sound - of course, the first thing you do is go to see your photo in it, sad, I know, but you gotta check! Really great job, guys, Many Thanks. I just hope nobody says anything to SMD about how the WI did their Calendar Girls with no clothes on, we'll all be in trouble for next year!
  11. I run mine on BC Coilovers, she's only about 20mm lowered and you have to be REALLY careful over speedbumps - if you're lowering it to track it then go as low as you like but in the real world if you take her down 30mm plus then you'll definitely hear plenty of grinding and scraping noises. . . . .
  12. If you send him your ECU I think Mark can re-map it and mail it back again - worth PMing him to confirm
  13. Yes, you definitely need to go when the traffic is light - The Ring seems to attract idiots and it's best to try and avoid them - Get there as early as you can before the crowds build up
  14. Go and talk to Abbey Motorsport as the first and primary port-of-call I looked at HKS Defensers to remove the 112mph limiter on my JDM but opted for a remap with Abbey as that leaves open options for Uprev and other tuning options Subsequently fitted plenum spacer and all stainless aftermarket exhaust, and remapped her again to capitalise on the gains - to professional tuners like Abbey they can handle JDM or UK spec vehicles with equal ease - They also fitted my BC coilovers, and lowered the suspension on my roadster
  15. Very Nice, looked like fun - but you were only in the video for about 3 seconds, you need to promote youself up the billing!
  16. You just have to say "I need a courtesy car" when booking yours in - depending on what's in / what you're having done it may mean you have to discuss the date (may have to wait a few days to get the courtesy car) but normally it's no problem
  17. Of course - doesn't everyone? And my carwash mitt is orange, too! (And then there's the orange egg cup for my boiled egg and soldiers, and the orange screwdriver set, and walking round Ludlow market a guy had some orange Duct Tape so bought some of that, too - God! I must get out more!)
  18. How high / low is your grime threshhold on your Zed? The weather recently with it's rain / drizzle / spray conditions have resulted in my girl getting grubbier and grubbier, but opportunities for washing her have been few (family demands over Christmas) and then there's the feeling that "There's not much point as she'll only get filthy again as soon as I take her out next time" After a while it gets so you have to avoid contact (like in the supermarket carpark) or your clothes get dirty, too. Eventually, it gets to the point (like this weekend) where I was in my scruffy jeans (not the clean going-to-the-pub jeans, but the grotty ones you keep for those clean-out-the-drains jobs) and I brushed past her in the B&Q carpark and got grey smears all down one hip . . . Now I know I'm not alone on this forum in the . . . .walk away from her, and look back when you're at the end of the row in the carpark - to look at her . . . . just because she's beautiful. Only, of late, it's been - look back and see her, cringing there, hunched, as she's ashamed she's so dirty, so you run away so nobody sees you next to her - So, tonight, couldn't face her any longer, so got out the bucket and hose - even though it was dark. It wasn't cold, (about 7 or 8°C) and I've definitely washed her in colder weather than this - but it was pretty dark, even with the halogen light ablaze. I feel better, and can now hold my head up - and I sense that she feels better, too . . . .
  19. Commercial Vehicle Direct (CVD) - use them for my company Hilux
  20. JDM keys are only available from the Stealers - I was quoted £399 so am surviving on only 1 key . . . . if you find a cheaper / better option, please let me know (I bought a spare key and tried to code it to the car, no success, asked dealer, was told they had to bring a JDM key from Japan and then coding it would be " . . . at least an hour") Insurance prices - the JDM bit adds on only a little bit, which is minor compared to - your postcode / driving history etc. It's a good idea to go to someone who knows what they're doing (Adrian Flux or Sky on here or others used to dealing with high performance cars - especially if you intend any mods, you do NOT want to find they can't handle an UpRev or other mod halfway through your policy time When I changed my ICE system I got them to put another 12v power socket in the cubby, ideal for the satnav. (IMHO - it's better to change the ICE as frequency shifters are a pain, and if you pick the right stereo you can get bluetooth to your phone built in and don't need the Zed bluetooth adaptor)
  21. +1 My god, the sh1te they put on TV - so I've been reading Game of Thrones but came on here for a break -
  22. Caol Ila - it's like drinking golden smoke
