Ferraris, Porsches, Bentleys, a GTR, a couple of Lambos, an Aston.... but not a single Z of any age! Also... Apparently they don't keep cars very long because their version of an MOT is every other year and costs about $1000! And if you want to buy a car, you have to prove to the police you have somewhere to park it before you can buy it. coldel Posted October 5, 2015 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Enjoy matey, I love Tokyo, and yes the parking if living there is excessively expensive but then again as you may have noticed you can get a cab, anywhere anytime and they are pretty reasonable in terms of cost! coldel Posted October 5, 2015 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Interesting piece of trivia for you regarding that photo in Shibuya, the 109 building is actually pronounced the Ten Nine building in Japanese which roughly translates as 'To' 'Kyu' (the numbers ten and nine said in japanese) which when said out loud quickly makes Tokyo. And that is why the auctions are flooded with three year old cars - nobody wants to do the annual government MOT at that price every year! I lived in Tokyo nearly 2 years (after 3 years in Seoul - which I enjoyed much more) - never been anywhere that the trucks and lorries are kept so clean and shiny in my life! Tokyo and Yokohama are fascinating places as is the countryside towards Hakone and into the mountains around Mt Fuji, I've still never made it to the famous Hakone turnpike road though... Next time! Brilliant train, lovely city, though only seen temples so far really. Finally saw some Zeds too - DE & a 70... they do exist then! Thank god for English subtitles everywhere! Bullet train; And soon after this pic, I found out that I wasn't working the entry gates properly and got escorted away by a Guard for re-education...
