Tornado V3 from the totally wicked crowd. Selected on account of it's cheapness and immediate availability, but it does the trick. Even if you spend £100 it'll pay for itself very quickly v smokes.

I may look into this.

Really I just want more money to spend on my Zed as it's a much better addiction.;)

Can't beat a coffee and smoke :-)

I aint no quitter!

The only good thing about those vapour things is the woman on the advert who wants to put it in her mouth and taste it :-D

Definitely agree. ;)

I love my morning cup of tea and a smoke as well. Been smoking since I was around 11 years old so at 34 years old now it won't be easy to quit unless I really want too. That's the thing I think you really have to want to quit before you'll even have a chance at giving up.

I stopped for a few years in my 20s (I'm 40 now) but started again!

"Once a smoker always a smoker" an bloke at work and fellow smoker used to say .......... he's dead now ....... Hmmmmmmmmm!

It's wasn't the morning coffee one, it's the after a good meal one I missed when I went turkey about 6 months ago.

GM I think the starter kit was about £30, so even if it doesn't suit, it's not cost you much to try. If you get to Day 4, you're up on the deal.

Why did you start again if you don't mind me asking?

If I could stop at all I would tbh but it's such a big part of my life I can't imagine not smoking. Sound's daft I know.

I started working nights and went to the smoke cabin for a chat with the lads and fell back in to it.

Thing is the cravings never went its nigh on impossible and I'm like you I can't imagine not smoking!

I played rugby league until I was 38 and was just as fit as the young lads.

It didn't go down well with the lads after training mind relaxing in the shower with a cig!

I quit nearly 7 years ago now (1st Feb, to be exact). Piece of cake, best thing I ever did. In that time, assuming £6 a pack and a pack a day, I've saved £15K by not smoking. B)

Seriously guys, just quit. Just stop. It's irritating for the first couple of days, then it's actually not so bad. All this electronic cigarette stuff is a little bit ridiculous if I'm honest: You either want to smoke properly 'cos you enjoy it, or you don't want to smoke at all. Halfway house just seems like a bit of a cop out to me.

And yeah, nowt worse than an ex-smoker, I know! :bangin::lol:

Should do a challenge or summat. All quit together, first one to give in gets mocked and tagged, last one left gets a goodie from a trader. Or summat. I dunno. Incentives to not smoke or whatever.

Before I gave up, I did 15 years of Taekwondo training, all during that time I smoked

my Instructor used to go mad when at the end of a session I used to leave with a cigarette

on.

I didn't feel any real benefit when I gave up apart from my bank balance. :surrender:

Im guessing most of your reasons are, it gets you outside and socialising.

E-cigs are taking off very fast, you can still go outside with your electronic cig with friends. You will find that once your on the e-cig a while, you wont want to go outside as they stink. All my friends who smoked are now all on e-cigs, so u can chill in the room and smoke. My friends who never have smoked dont moan when its raining and i just want someone to talk to while having a smoke outside, because i just smoke it inside. its only water vapour so no harm done.

After a week, youll find you still crave a fag, but its not the nicotine, its just simply the feel of a cigarette etc. However, after 2 weeks, if the craving is still there massively, try a cigarette. youll find the smoke makes you sick, you get barely any nicotine hit and just bear in mind your cost of the habbit.

If your rich as hell, and all your friends smoke, the only issue is your health. Thats a bit more important than socialising with a cigarette to be fair. Im pretty sure everyone thinks "im fine, no-one in my family ever got lung cancer", until you actually do and theres no turning back. Go with a starter kit, higher mg (24 on average is highest), smoke it as much as u want, all day every minute if u want. Youll get bored of the new toy smoke and smoke it normally eventually. Just be aware, if you feel sick, its because your body is telling you to calm down as it will recognise nicotine poisoning coming on. (you have to drink about 200ml of 24mg nictone in about 10seconds to actually get poisoned), but its just your body telling you it doesnt like it.

After a month, i honestly do prefer elec to real cig. I didnt think i would, and stopped because of money and, im moving back to scotland and parents didnt know i smoked. So there was no way i could hide it, so went electronic. And even nights out, not fussed about cigarette.

Socialising isnt a good enough reason to keep smoking, if either... your health, wallet or wife/family/friends detest you smoking.

One of the big problems I think any smoker who try's to quit will have apart from the routine smoking like after meals & with coffee/beer etc will be when they get stressed or upset as I know if I'm wound up a cigarette does help me ~ or at least I feel it does.

Like you though even as a smoker I'm still pretty fit and very active. Won't be running any endurance races but still fitter than some people that don't even smoke or drink. ;)

I have e-cig because i like the throat hit, i dont care about being addicted to nicotine. Im sure people are addicted to caffine and dont even realise it because they dont go without it. Put 50 random people in a field for 2weeks with simple rations, and they'll crave something their addicted to without knowing.

If you enjoy smoking, and dont enjoy the cost, e-cig is the way forward.

If you dont enjoy being addicted, as you said, cold turkey is the way forward

Can't I just still enjoy the act, but without, you know, the tar and formaldehyde and carbon monoxide? What's the harm?

Best of all it p¡sses off and confuses people who don't like e-cigs, as you still get the pleasure but they have no footing to harass you about your self harm like they could with your Marlboros. It's win win.

If they knocked out a Mars bar tomorrow which tasted better, but was high in fibre, zero fat, reduced your bad cholesterol, sugar free, choc full o' vitamins, improved your sex-life, ended world poverty and was better for you than a jog followed by an organic pulse stew with a rub down by a gang of playboy bunnies. There'd still be people moaning about kids eating Mars bars for breakfast

If they are just another drug of choice instead of a means to quit, it wont be long before the chancellor wants his share believe me!

I quit lots of drugs over the years cigs being the last one I gave up.( 6 or 7 years ago not sure when)

Stopping is easy, deciding to is the hard part, you must really want to within yourself and not be bowing to outside pressure.

Even feeling you should quit wont do, it must be the right time for you. You must have decided to.

If you still enjoy it then carry on, I did for many years.

Now I would never smoke anything again. It revolts me just the smell on someone else, no cravings at all.

I'm Still on the beer tho. but running a hilly 53min 10K cross country at 52. cant be all bad

I gave up over 30 years ago because they went up to £2 a packet and I thought how ridiculous it was to waist so much money on a packet each day 365 days a year - and how much are they now £7 to £8 ! Can`t believe anyone is prepared to pay that and end up smelling like an ash tray and then probably suffer the associated health problems. I know there were odd times when they were enjoyable - with a coffee, with a pint, after a meal, but the rest of the time was just habit. The wife gave up shortly after we got together 10 years ago when we realised we wouldn`t have a future together me being so anti smoking and her stinking of fags all the time. We reckoned up just the other day that if we both still smoked a packet apiece each day we would be spending well over £400 a month and I can think of dozens of better things to spend that on. It only takes will power, and the wife has none, so if she can do it anyone can then you have all that money each month to spend on the car or bike !

Was always fairly anti smoking although the wife smoked but that was a no go area. 10 years later she is 'having a break' from them. 4 months so far and me having just turned 50 have discovered shisha! Funny old game...

I think the reason places dont allow you to use ecig inside is just down to the fact its still smoke. It does linger around for a while even though just water, its probably wanting a "clear atmosphere"?. I would agree with them though, if 30 people in pub smoked ecigs the place would look like a gas chamber

I've read a few posts and as being someone who has only ever been a passive smoker it sounds a little ridiculous.

I don't mean the smoking bit as I understand addiction although I disagree with it being "cool", I just think 12 year old who has no opinion of their own.

Anyway on to electronic cigarettes; i just don't think enough research has been done on them as to what health benefits/risks are involved. It's unregulated and seems to want to market it as a weapon in your social armoury.

I find it interesting that supposedly intelligent people aren't questioning this.

Anyway as I said I'm fortunate enough to never have tried smoking (I do have quite an addictive personality) but I am interested to know if you smokers feel the same. After all fags were once prescribed by doctors.

To lighten the mood reminds me of black adder episode with potatoes

It will be interesting to see what research pops up in the next few years (as opposed to people 'viewing it' in a certain way. It certainly crossed my mind, but when you think about the content of smoke and it's 100s of toxins, as opposed to vapour, I find it hard to believe it will turn out worse. As you rightly say though, there's a shortage of evidence, particularly the impartial kind.
