hensh65 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Last night I absolutely destroyed one of these form the lights up to the legal limit of course. It was very wet so whether he struggled for traction I don't know but I wasn;t even really trying that hard. 09 VXR with the exhaust in the middle. Its the new one that surpriesed the OP, the old ones are slow and cant go around corners. Unless they are stage 2 then you would have got left for dead ( speaking sarcastically obv ) On a similar legal limit bit of fun I took a spanking in a straight line off a BMW 330d!! thing was obviously remapped as I was in third gear and he was past and went about 2 car lenghts infront and stayed there! JoshThePonce Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) I struggle to find a challenge nowadays, came from a DE 350 to a big single rx7 running 450-500bhp dependant on boost, and it weighs <1200kg. The difference in power to my old Z is honestly like comparing the Z to a saxo, and that's no overexagguration. The 350 is deceptively quite quick but i'm not surprised modern hot hatches are putting it to the test considering its power to weight. Edited February 6, 2014 by JoshThePonce Quote

Exotic Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I have just as much fun in the Jaaaaag as I did in the Zed, different kind of fun though of course. She is a big girl, 1.8t kerb weight, but bundles of torque and with 2 sequential turbos when you want instant power and use the paddles she is as quick off the mark as a standard Zed and I would say at speed in gear ie overtaking she is quicker Yeah I used to love the noise and the low down seating position of the Zed but now I get to almost silently (inside & out) breeze past people at rediculous knots (legal of course) in absolute comfort with 500 watts pumping out through 17 speakers Does it compare to the Zed? In no posible way can you compare it other than it has 4 wheels and the power comes from the right 2 of them Sent from the golf club... No offence but maybe your just getting old. I've driven lots of powerful modernish german cruisers (such as the E Class) which are quiet and easy to drive in auto. Is it more fun than a Zed, probably not. Pros and cons for each kind of car. spursmaddave Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 There are quite a few a lot older than me, I had to get an auto or i wpuld have kept my 350 longer but don't miss it really Sent from the golf club... Quote

Shame they still beat your zed in a straight line?? Straight line racing is for people who can't drive Its not all about the 0-60's. Its like having a massive schlong but sh1t at using it. Then comes along a wee fat guy with a 6 inched and 17 stone banging it home. What ones gonna impress the girls more Quote
ilogikal1 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Shame they still beat your zed in a straight line?? If I wanted to go fast in a straight line I can think of more appealing than anything with VX in the name, let alone the Z. Quote

GMballistic Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Lurved my Zed so much character, but for sheer driving pleasure, VX was better. Never driven a VX220 but I can believe that statement.I'd imagine it's like this; if you're in the moment on a track day the VX is the car you'd want to be thrashing but if your cruising across Europe then it would have to be the Zed. Also a bit like how I'd love to bang Aliysha Klass (a porn star) but would rather come home to Kelly Brook. Both nice in their own way but one's more for show with a little bit of go whilst the other is just go, go, go!. 3 Quote
coldel Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 God yeah, wouldn't drive more than 200 miles in the VX in one hit - the Zed was great for munching the miles up with lazy power and a cheeky exhaust note, but if you want to feel like you have been 'loaded into the barrel of a gun, shot out, then bent around corners with your face being pulled off your head' then the VX it is. My arms ached for two days after that drive out with Darren - I imagine the Zed guys barely broke a sweat 1 Quote
