Number plates have been censored for donkeys years, even in the 50's when number plates were 3 letters and 3 numbers, they issued EUK and GUK but nothing in between . I'm sure there were several others as well.

Best plates I ever saw was when a Rolls Royce Phantom passed me on the M25 with the plate "NOT 1"

 

I thought "that's odd..."

 

Then a second one storms past with the plate "BUT 2"

My dad thought it would be a good idea to buy me a plate for my 18th. Never used it as I disliked it. He still has it to this day on retention. In my opinion, my mates would rinse me for the last three letters.

I regularly see a Mercedes on my walk to work in the morning with a number plate that obviously "gypsy", I think the plate is G1YPSY or similar.
