Not from here but from work ... I'm almost 72 so thought it was time for a rest ... I'll probably do bits of design (construction) as long as I can but I don't enjoy the project management side of things nor the 9 to 5 anymore so it's time to go

Whats taken you so long???

I retire from IT at the end of November, 2 weeks before my 39th birthday :D Absolutely agree with not being able to do 9-5 anymore.........

72?!!!! wow. Hopefully I can retire before I reach that age, but at the moment with the wife & kids spending money like its going out of fashion its looking unlikely. Ive not even got a proper pension lined up yet. Argh!

Enjoy the spare time!

Good for you, i retired late last year and it's the best decision i have ever made, no more dancing to someone elses tune or an increasingly nightmare commute.

I'd smash it until it fell off. Front doors, back doors, side gate, the lot.

You're a very dirty boy ... but I like you

I retired just before my 54th birthday. The company I worked for made me a good offer so I took the chance while it was there. During my time there I saw several guys that I worked with that had the option to retire early on full pension (at 62) with the company making up the state pension for 3 years! Quite a few of those who turned down the offer never made it to 65 and that swayed my decision to go while I had the opportunity.
