  1. Love the vid Chris - wow didn't realise how quick we (er, well you and Bob really) got it done Nearly had to get the Kleenex out for Ian though as he saw his pride and joy being pulled to bits
  2. Did like Bobs new wheels when I saw them , but my they have some dish That pic must been on the A31 and not the M27 if it were around 9am, thinking about it more, as Bob pulled out from a layby when we passed but I was just doing the 'sheep' bit by then
  3. Was that on the M27 around 9am going west, cos I seem to remember that VW 'van' as I was following glrnet in his blue Ford van who was following Bob and I was in the white A45 behind them.....and guess where we going? But I somehow missed you passing us if it was then
  4. pics here http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/48567-my-350z-from-the-beginning-suzi-to-become-suzanne/page__st__780#entry1419412
  5. What a fantastic day - thanks for allowing me in the hallowed ZED SHED and I was even allowed (told) to get stuck in But found a a few moments to catch some pics.....so: Ian had to show his new install before we set about stripping Suzi The team (well the early birds) before work cracked on around 10.30am Just over an hour later and Suzi had her front end removed Some were busy Hmmmmm....what goes on under there Time for the engine/box out And Ian making his escape: Only to have one last drive Clutch /fywheel belived to have have lasted the 112,000 miles Suzi has travelled....So Ian is now Miss Daisy Mind you, she was showing her age around the crankshaft oil seal So there rests Suzie's heart....RIP - box off and all done by 3pm The the new heart and box were found in Bob's garage and it took seven of us to lift that on the back of the truck No sooner was it in the Shed, Chris set about it - much to Ian's alarm He had chopped the gearlever off Plastic bits on the former Corvette engine did not last long To reveal a rather nice V8 having covered a reputed 17,000kms And then it was like Christmas again as goody boxes were unwrapped Including a rather nice baffled sump Then it getting near 5pm and time for a clean up and kindly fed and watered before I had to leave to get home to post these pics up Top day and I learnt a lot more about DE engines in the process - hope I might be allowed back for when the LS3 is ready for installation and firing up I shall sleep well tonight!
  6. Corrected that for you
  7. Yes, I drooled over this at the F of S this year The wheel design is one of the best I have ever seen
  8. But Will, as much as I am sympathetic with the principle you have raised, if you have not got proof of posting on that date then you can moan until the cows come home as your posting before the 1st of the month, together with hundreds/thousands of others will have sat in a pending tray and I doubt they check postmarks (if they can be read), to verify the posting for you
  9. We have had a 17 year old driving his mum's UY GT4 on a Wales weekend (and as an aside he had been instrumental in making some excellent upgrades on the car). Car in this pic and (forgot his name) in the check shirt. And to be fair his driving was of a very high standard - both quick and safe. But I believe that was with a one-off insurance arrangement that nowadays may be impossible to get.
  10. Sorry Ilogikal1, and I do not know if you work for the DVLA given your responses, but you will see on this link that it says refunds for full months unexpired tax will be paid. As I read that as long as you have a proof of posting (easily done over the counter at a PO) then it does not matter when the DVLA say they received it. http://www.findlaw.c...e_tax/9936.html When to apply It’s important to ensure your application is posted before the first day of the month from when you wish to claim the refund. and How much refund will you receive? You’ll receive a refund for each full month left on your tax disc, assuming you post it to the DVLA before the first day of the first month of the refund. I hate people being ripped off and just posting this up for our members' benefit so that they can make sure they get a full refund Edit: Just to add, when I sold GUNs in October I actually handed over the completed V5 confirming the sale at the PO and got a receipt to that effect (on the 17th of the month) and they sent it off in their courier post so it didn't cost me anything.
  11. No longer the case this side of the pond Jim http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/vehicle-tax-changes-make-sure-you-know-the-new-rules-from-1-october-or-risk-1000-fine-9690815.html
  12. Yet again had to disaprove several for sale post this evening because sellers are not reading the rules
  13. It says suitable for 2003-2009 coupes and roadsters, which would be correct as the footwells were unchanged.
  14. On the other hand DVLA have taken money twice for December, given what Whacky says the new owner did, so is that right under the new system where everyone has to claim back unexpired tax and require new owners to tax, rather than inherit unexpired tax as before? Seems to me they 'want their cake and eat it', and really with the new system it should not matter when the claim for the unexpired tax is sent in.....if they can see from their system the car has been re-taxed by another for the period being claimed
  15. Fingers crossed for you Andy they get it right this time.
  16. Having done less than 500 miles in it Dan and still in the run-in period some way to go before I can, or more correctly, try to fully explore its limits. But having had 2 scoobys and knowing their power/grip levels and as you say, good fun to drive on/near the limits, I'm kinda expecting the same with the '45. As you know Dan, sideways on track is the not the quickest way round although the odd tail out is hard to resist But as track work is not my thing I look for cars that give driving pleasure in varying ways - as fast as circumstances allow but always with safety in mind. As I found with the ZEDs their ability outshone mine and yes I had to conceed that the MPSS added another dimension to the 370's level of grip. In fact in the dry it became hard work to get the tail to let go in a controlled way - and I have to say that is where the Sesstanas were good as there were no nasty surprises and any oversteer (induced or otherwise) was easily controlled/corrected. But in the wet the MPSS were in a different league and and so you were right. What have I have just said But take a look at this vid - I'm no Sutcliffe fan but its one of the better ones to show how an A45 performs. And I think like you, I admire the technology in purpose designed drivers' cars and for me I see the '45 as a challenge and although I was very impressed with the test drive of the M135i, I simply could not come to terms with its looks and speccing that up to include a LSD and the 'necessary options' was topping 35k and with a few other niggles it wasn't to be. Did consider a Golf R, but VW reputation is pretty dire atm from what I have been reading so I very glad June could see where my heart was, and I hope my head. We shall see.
  17. Hi Jay Basic OTR price (new) is about £38k. But most go for many of the options and you could end coughing up near on £50k But second hand ones with a decent spec are appearing between £35/£40k. My budget was £40k tops and fortunately I saw it as a 2 month old 70mile demonstrator with all the right bits apart from the exclusive package (leather seats basically) for less. I had intially put those on my 'must have' list but having driven a well run-in '45 in anger and then mine and now with the June saying she finds the standard spec seats very comfortable, I'm beginning to wonder about the press stories of the ride being too firm. But then having come from ZEDS, good handling has always been one of my priorities when buying cars I am finding the car to be a dream and with the AWD I just had a little play on an (empty) wet roundabout this morning and the grip is astonishing (even with out MPSS ) and unlike the ZEDs you can boot it quite hard well before the exit with no drama. Really pleased with the optional performance exhaust and steering wheel - has much better paddles, but I could do with someone like Professor Hawkins in the car to show me all functions of the Comand system - seems to have more options than my PC & iPad But then as a £2.3k option I guess it should have! Still coming across things I didn't know were on the car, or I had glazed over when reading the spec lists. No idea about the petrol consumption - something that is off the bottom of my worry about list
  18. Beautiful looking car Wonder how much in the 'go' department is derived from Honda's new F1 power, as the timing seems co-incidental. Perhaps I am reading too much into it.
  19. I was told (by an AMG salesman) that they have never been produced in manual.
  20. Part of the planning application process when new housing is proposed near any noisy activity, but sadly you always get those who move in, not having first checked the environment around them, and start to want to change things...... Yep, the GB nimbys get everywhere!
  21. See, 4 seats are working well already - I can 3 people at once instead of just one
