  1. As a precautionary measure, when cleaning my Zed, I always try to clean the rear arches dirt trap areas. Twice a year, I wire brush the area and then use this, .www.bilthamber.com/corrosion-protection-and-rust-treatments/hydrate-80. It's a brush applied product with excellent durability! Woth spending a little time and effort to try and keep the dreaded rust at bay!
  2. I've had my Roadster nearly 3 years, and love every minute driving it. I have found it to be torsionally stiff, with no flexing, scuttle shake and no creaks or groans. I rarely drive it with the hood up, but on those times when I do, I've found the hood to be waterproof, windproof and with very little wind noise. It really is a great experience driving a Zed with the roof down. If you are after a Roadster, you won't go wrong with a Zed!
  3. Azure roadster on Manchester Road heading into Wilmslow this morning.
  4. Saw a black 350Z parked in Altrincham Road and then a nice black 370Z also on Altrincham Road, yesterday, around 11.30 am
  5. Well done, glad another Zed has been saved! If you need parts/advice, I have found the Traders on the forum to be particularly knowledgable and helpful, zmanalex, clark mororsport, cougarstore, opie oils and redline styling have served me well in the past.

    Need discs and pads

About 18 months ago, I got DBA discs and DS2500 pads from Cougar Store, who were the most competitive at that time. Great service too. Drop them a PM
  7. This surely makes the case for the Specialist Insurers, to offer their support! Worthwhile contacting those on this forum and see if they can assist.
  8. Bosch Aerotwin AR20U and AR18U. carparts4u were the most competitive, when I bought my replacements in March, this year.

    switch panels

You may wish to get these! Well worth it! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline-731768-Trim-Remover-5-Piece/dp/B004P3VQEC/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1432313345&sr=1-1&keywords=silverline+trim+removal+tools
  10. Me too! In my Gunmetal roadster!
  11. I experienced similar problems with my Zed just after I bought it. It had the original Bridgestone tyres on the front and newish Avons on the rears. Once or twice the ESP came in on bends if I was, "making progress." When the EPS interceded, it wasn't violent, but it can be initially unnerving when it occurs! Reading the great posts on this forum it appeared to be down to mixing tyres! I just took things more easily until the original fronts needed changing and put Avons on, with no further problems with EPS. Probably best if you get your new tyres fitted and hopefully your EPS problems will disappear. Hope this helps.
  12. I may be wrong on this, but I thought that the face lift upgrade of the Zed, around 2006, included audio controls on the steering wheel. Like you, I have a pre face lift roadster which only has the cruise control on the steering wheel.
  13. Please let us know how you get on, if you do decide to change your soft top.
  14. The Wheel Specialists have branches nationwide. I used the Manchester branch to refurb my Rays almost 2 years ago and the still look like new! Would recommend them.
  15. If I remember correctly, there was a recent post stating that Jack Smith Trimmers of Cardiff, no longer wished to do Zed hoods, as "they were too much trouble." Which was a pity as the MX5 community rated his work highly
  16. According to an American owners website, the part number is :- 97100 - CE41A Not sure if it's the same for UK cars, but I would suspect so. Hope this helps.
  17. So sorry to see this happen to your pride and joy Matt. Hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction.
  18. I believe most automotive tapes are manufactured by 3M and they do a clear adhesive tape which may be useful as a replacement tape. I understand 3M also do a tape removal spray to assist in removing the original tape. It may be worth contacting the 3M UK technical support help line for more advice. Not sure how you would go about cutting/shaping any new tape to match the the hood footprint though! You may have to obtain a Nissan part, if your bank balance is healthy enough!!!!
  19. +1 for BH. Good quality products.
  20. You may wish to try this test, just to check that the hood does retract as it seems that the problem could be associated with microswitch operation. I think the source of this"advice" was from an American Zed forum, which I copied and filed as potentially useful technical data on the Zed. I have not had cause, (thankfully) to have to use this, so I can't say how effective it is. "If your roof is not lifting at all. Get your partner to sit in the car and foot on brake and press the button. Stand outside on the drivers side and slowly manually lift the rear window section up until it hits the microswitch (pull section all the way open until its just over vertical). The hard shell will then move (open) and the front of the roof will begin to retract. If the window section does not drop down into the stow away part of the car, go to the passenger side of the car, and press the microswitch that's located at the 5th bow pivot point down at the bottom. Keep your finger on it until the rear window section starts to fall. Take your finger off the switch after about 2 secs and all should just carry on with the procedure until its ready to drive." Finally, I should add that you should never try to force the hood to either open or close as this can cause damage to he operating mechanisms. Hope this helps.
  21. Just for your information, you can disable the passenger seat tip function, if you wish. There is an on/off switch on the rear of the passenger seat.

    350Z floor mats

Gents, You may wish to consider some of our trusted Traders on here, who may be able to provide Z mats. If I remember correctly Zmanalex and/or Clark Motorsport were offering these some while ago. Hope this helps.
  23. When I got my Zed almost 2 years ago, the brakes needed replacing. I took the opportunity to upgrade the Brembos with:- DBA T4 4000 Series Front and Rear Brake Discs Ferodo DS2500 Front and Rear Brake Pads Hel Brake Lines which I have found to be an impressive combination. All parts were supplied promptly and at a competitive price from Cougarstore, one of our trusted traders on the forum.
  24. The Ferodo DS2500 pads are prone to some squeal, usually when they are cold. I find that once the Zed is warmed up, a couple of firm brake applications help to get the pads also warmed up which then diminishes brake squeal. If you would prefer to refit brake shims then PM Zmanalex and/or Clark Motorsport who can assist with parts supply.
