  1. I always headlamp flash and wave and usually get a response from 350 and 370's. As a car nut, I also headlamp flash classic cars and always get a wave back!!

    Auto breaks!!

Mixed tyres will cause the stability system to intervene quite early. I had mixed tyres on my Zed, newish rears and original fronts when I bought it just over 12 months ago. I've now changed the fronts, as they were approaching the tread depth minimum, so I now have all tyres from the same manufacturer and the stability system rarely now intervenes. There is some great advice in the pinned sections on why mixing tyres is best avoided.
  3. I recently upgraded my brakes to DBA discs and Ferodo DS2500 pads with OEM Brembo callipers. Fantastic stopping power, even over the standard OEM set up, which were impressive anyway!! I was initially disappointed to find that there was brake squeal at low speeds, despite using the full bedding in procedure, but now after 2000 miles they are fine with no noise at all. Can recommend the Ferodos.
  4. Agree with the Autoglym roof treatment, have used it on my 2006 roadster with good results. I understand that Renovo is a superior product, but haven't used it yet. Sorry if that's off topic, and should maybe in the detailing section. Been out the last 2 days in the great weather with the top down and enjoying that great V6 sound!!!
  5. The Manchester branch did a similar, great job on mine a month ago! Good guys, who care for cars, they also do tyre fitting service which respects your alloys!
  6. Very smart, silver, Zed roadster, (pleased to see with the top down!) heading for Chapel en le Frith approx. 12.30 today. A great day for a drive in the Peak District with the top down!!! Thank you for the wave!
  7. Looking at the sheer damage to most of the US Zeds, they were high speed impacts. As previous comments, young inexperienced drivers getting into Zeds, Mustangs, Skylines. Sad for all the grieving families.
  8. Driving the roadster on cool, sunny mornings, nothing better, especially if you have a quality exhaust fitted and you can hear that V6! Like all the other comments, the roof is reluctance to close at low temps. Best remedy, I have found, is to park in a sunny spot, give it 15 minutes for the solar UV to heat up the black canvas hood, and then it will close, no problem! Tip: if the canvas roof flexes at the last section, nearest the boot, when you push it slightly, you are good to go! And then enjoy your Zed!
  9. Nice looking Zed! Zeditis has claimed yet another victim!!!
  10. You could try the Wheel Specialists in Manchester. I've just had my Rays refurbished there and they do a tyre fitting/balancing service which respects your alloys!
  11. The Zed has separate drum brakes for the handbrake, Handbrake sticking is a known aspect for the Zed, particularly if its been standing for a while. This weather doesn't help!
  12. Some very nice motors in the pics!! Well done!
  13. Great purchase! I'm sure you'll love every minute driving the Zed!
  14. It's probably temperature related, as others have said. The handbook suggests the roof shouldn't be retracted at temps below +5 deg C. I have found that it is the fifth section that seems most critical in allowing the hood to fold, as the canvas is so stiff when cold. On a cold day, if you can position the Zed in the sun for 5 or 10 minutes, the canvas soon warms up, becomes more flexible and then it folds away usually on the first attempt.

    Nice day

Can't beat a Zed roadster with the top down on a sunny day, Rob! Roll on the warmer weather.
  16. Retapping from M11 to M12 is probably not the best course of action. It is considered good engineering practice when retapping to increase thread size by at least 2mm. Suggest you replace like for like, if possible, and if they are not stressed components, eg head bolts, then ZMANALEX is your man!

    Which Stubby?

+1 for the RDX from Redline! The RDX gives the best performance for a stubby, cheaper versions can suffer from signal dropout.
  18. Thank you for your help. I guess I'll rely on Wasso, very impressed with his efforts!
  19. Just to support Ewen's comment, I had my local, family run, trusted, garage replace my OEM exhaust. They advised the cat shields were in poor condition and suggested I discarded them. The Zed was then due an MOT a few months later and passed. If I remember correctly, there was a thread about discarding cat shields on this forum some while ago.
  20. Hi All, I've had my Zed for just over a year and this spring I want to bring the engine bay up to scratch! The air plenum on my unmodified 2006 is oxidised, and I would appreciate some advice on how to restore it to showroom condition. I was impressed by a thread some months ago by Wasso which involved plenum removal/exchange. Great dedication! Or is it just a case of elbow grease and time? Can anyone recommend an aluminium deoxidising product and maybe a subsequent high temperature lacquer? Raceglaze Alubrite has had some good reviews. Would appreciate any help, guidance or product recommendations please.
  21. You may wish to look at Watco products. They are industrial flooring specialist paint manufacturers and have garage floor paints, which I've used in the past and can recommend them. I'll be doing my garage floor this spring, and will be using Watco, once I've got all the junk cleared out!!
  22. The Sonax Brilliant Shine has had good references on other detailing forums.
