  1. Welcome along and congratulations. Ahhh......the little quirky things on a new car can throw the best AND WORST of people. I remember reading about a lady who's zed got carjacked. The perps got her keys but panicked and fled after not being able to get it started. Didn't realise. ....CLUTCH IN and turn key Lucky lady eh!
  2. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/252112202005?_mwBanner=1 This is where I ordered it from
  3. http://vid272.photobucket.com/albums/jj181/andyten/Mobile%20Uploads/20160418_015315_2.mp4 This is the results on my zed's tailgate. Again left side was taped up to show a 50:50 with the right side treated.
  4. http://vid272.photobucket.com/albums/jj181/andyten/Mobile%20Uploads/20160422_135737.mp4 This was done by hand in 5 minutes using SOFT99 SCRATCH CLEAR WAX Door on the left scratched and swirled. Door on the right polished with a filler heavy wax. May not be permanent but at £18 a pot delivered it may be your answer considering cost and storage space.
  5. Mr Monkeybrain........you are a legend. £4/month! You need to change your username to SUPERDUPERBRAIN
  6. Had bangers worth couple hundred quid from 1995 to 1998. Then spent £9200 on a 5 yr old Honda Prelude (cars seemed so much more expensive then) Ran it for 7 yrs then gifted it to my younger brother. 2005 and I blew £30k on my zed with factory Nismo bodykit......and another £1200 on the 19'LMGT4s. Probably only worth 7k no. So I've lost about £32k over 18 yrs. BUT ONLY IF I SELL UP. In my heart, after a good detail my Zed is still worth every penny me. If I were to go back in time? Wouldn't change a thing. Except maybe change to Azure Blue. Or buy a Bayside Blue R34! I bet I wouldn't have lost £23k over 11 yrs if I had got a 2nd hand Gtr back in 2005!
  7. Once you have them clean and sealed with the product of your choice, regular washing is a doddle. Gentle and often is better than a good hard scrub every few months. To minimise abrasion I clean the rims under a continuous stream of clean shampoo from a pump sprayer in one hand and minimal pressure wiping with a noodle mitt in the other. That's all I've used on my rims for past 9 years apart from once every couple years when they get a full decon and resealed.
  8. Many thanks for your reply. I thought it was a bit odd. Or maybe Kia discs are just made of mush
  9. Firstly a little background on my driving. Got an 05 Zed brand new. Averaged about 9000 miles/yr for 3 yrs then down to 3000/yr as kids arrived. I had the garage replace pads with stock pads at about 33k and 5yrs. Now Zed is 11yrs old and the original discs are still good according to the garage. I know.......I DRIVE LIKE MISS DAISY So I assume the pads wear faster than discs. But if the pads wear too thin they damage and score the discs. With my sprog transporter (2011 Kia Sportage ) I drive even more smoothly. About 4000 miles a year mainly motorway miles. Today at 24k miles Kia told me it's brakes are still fine but a bit worn and to expect new discs and pads next year? Is it normal for them to wear at the same rate needing replacement TOGETHER or should they be recommending changing pads BEFORE they get so worn as to wreck the discs? Just find it odd how I've had a Zed 11 years with discs lasting to the 2nd set of pads and the same with our 10 year old Mini Cooper with 30k miles of city driving. Needles to say the Kia is going to Lockwood and Greenwood from now on
  10. But if you blank out the dash with the el cheapo SELF flocking kit you might feel like a flocking blanker!
  11. The paint on a sunset Zed truly comes alive at night under the neon lights
  12. http://www.fastmotoring.com/wp-content/gallery/toyota-hilux-at-war-field/81_revolutionary_trucks_image7_668_500_90.jpg Toyota Hilux for the win. It's not just about speed but the deterrent/fear of force
  13. Congratulations. Looks like you've got a beauty there
  14. My wife was not impressed with my suggestions for keeping the kids entertained. I suggested when they had friends over for a birthday party we could give the kids little buckets. The one who managed to pick the most weeds in the garden winsa pound coin or something. My 5 yr old thought it would be great. .....wife not so
  15. I'd love to see the look on someone's face as they look down their nose at you in the car. Thinking to themselves.........."underpowered Jap rubbish" Only to eat your dust One word comes to mind. ........."Monicaaaaaaaaa"
  16. On a serious note, I would be a little nervous following that at speed on the motorway fo fear of it flying off the car and causing an accident.
  17. I was once pooped on. Bird crapped on my shoulder THROUGH the open sun roof WHILST DRIVING!
  18. That is freaky considering the absence of trees!
  19. The matt champagne silver is amazing. Really sets off the polished lips. Best finish by far out of the other finishes the wheels previously had. Also ties in well with the bodywork paint
  20. My commute is 5 miles each way. Been fine past 11 years. Only thing for your bro is being half that he'll find the oil temps and pressure won't reach optimum for first mile or two despite water temperature registering as midway. So ideally he shouldn't floor it until then. Not that we all drive flat out all the way to work but I often restrain myself from overtaking tractors and OAPs til engine oil is optimum temperature and pressure. Hopefully such caution will see my zed give me another 11 trouble free years.
  21. A friend of mine has had a Leaf for a couple of years. Lives in Warrington and commutes to Manchester during the week in the Leaf. Saves a fortune he tells me. He then jumps into his 4 yr old GTR on the weekends. Difference must be interstellar on a Saturday morning For him, running the GTR as a daily would be impossible. As he's self employed I think it's 100% tax deductable too.
  22. Back in 05 this was on my longish shortlist of cars to move onto after my Honda Prelude. Lovely shape especially the models with th deeper front spoiler. Personally I think the shape is as timeless as an RX7 or NSX despite being outclassed performance wise.
  23. Years ago I got a Kirkland Signature battery from Costco. Their own brand with 5 year warranty stamped on. 4yr 10 months later it went dead. Probably coz I'd bought the Zed and the old car had been sat idle for months. Went back to Costco receipt in hand. Bad news.....they stopped doing those batteries couple years back. Good news......they gave me a new Bosche one instead Keeping receipts is good
  24. It's been good weather for a drive in Manchester for once recently. I couldn't sleep on Wednesday and found myself taking the zed THE LONG way to the 24 hr Tesco just for the drive. Amazing how when the roads are empty and you ride in the zed, all the weight of the world is lifted from your shoulders. I've said it before. ......my zed is my little Oasis. Life could be $h!tty but gaze upon the zed, snuggle in the seat, grip the wheel and all is good with the world again. You must organise a Manchester mini meet when your Zed is finished
  25. Took the wife's Mini in today at Lockwood and Greenwood. Met Kano taking his Zed in for service. I hope he didn't think I'm a stalker wannabe in a Mini blagging that I was a zed owner Anyway.....nice meeting you Kano
