Tooting! That's where my roots are. Tooting born and bred but moved to Manchester in the 90s to study and couldn't afford to move back

Those images on Google look the business. If we get anything near that I'll be well chuffed -
Wow....wouldn't have believed it was a wrap. Does this mean a different mascot will be appearing in future photos to match the new colour scheme?

Looking good JimF

Congratulations Looking mean and purposeful in black. I remember the first day with my Zed like it was yesterday. Even the CD I listened to on the way home now brings back fond memories of that day!

Seeing as you've been so frank with your experiences and seem to be a bit shocked at how much time this detailing malarkey takes, I thought I'd share my weekends detailing efforts. Started yesterday on the sprog mobile. My 5 yr old Kia Shortage in white. This doesn't get pampered as much as the Zed. This past year it gets washed once a month or so. A coat of C2v3 every few months. And that's it. Yesterday I gave it a more thorough going over. Used a 5 litre pump sprayer with a wand to spray pressure on. Left to dwell for 5 mins while I filled my 5 buckets (no outside tap ) 2 buckets to rinse, one for clay mitt soap and 2 for my 2bm wash. With the pre wash soak the 4 weeks worth of dirt came off with little effort. I didn't bother rinsing coz I then moved to my clay mitt. Used extra soapy shampoo mix as lube and gently wipewiped over the car. As I did this last year it was quick and easy as not a lot of bonded contamination. Done in about the same time as it took my 2bm wash. Then a rinse. Then Pat dry with a damp MF towel. I could have used fallout remover but I ran out . Didn't see many yellow dots this time anyway. Being a white car it really shows up ingrained dirt. So treated once a year I treat it to a paint cleanse. I just use autoglym SRP as I have a big old bottle left. Didnt spend ages working it til clear like a polish, just a quickie like applying wax then buffed off. Applicator pad wasn't that dirty after showing that semi regular C2v3 keeps the paint protected a bit. Then topped it off with some C2v3 which was again faster than a 2bm wash. Today I gave the Kia rims a good clean. Never sealed these before but treated them today. Used wonder wheels hot wheels gel........bought it for an amazing £1.73 years ago at Tesco and IT BLEEDS just like fallout remover . Wasnt bothered about perfection so didn't clay every last bump off. A blast with my cordless leaf blower then left to dry. An hour ago I gave a quick IPA wipedown then just sealed the faces with Gtechniq C5. So for comparatively little effort the car is pretty much sorted. Hopefully just needing quick washes and wipe downs with C2v3 over the next 12 months Most grueling part was the SRP and that's just coz I'm used to a quick 5-10 min C2v3 coat

Damn he's fast isn't he Or maybe I'm just to slow at posting

Sorry I can't help with any of your questions. You'll have to wait for our resident detailing professor ilogical1 to respond!

Once you've given the car a good decon and put your last stage product on a quick maintenance wash will be just that.....nice and easy. As long as you haven't let dirt cake on for months the dirt will glide off with a gentle 2bm wash. I've been using C2v3 since it was first released. So quick to use and so cheap I use it neat. Gave the car a coat this morning and it took less time to coat and buff than to wash the car!

Don't get disheartened. There are some well cherished zeds out there. I remember reading about one recent member selling a white kitted zed who used to clean the car AND UNDERCARRIAGE after each wet outing before parking in his garage!
-
Hi ilogikal1, do you ever find the C5 leaves a slightly "grabby" finish? This was the only reason I put some C2v3 on top. I'm a sucker for running my fingers across the surface feeling it as slippery as the inside of an "American pie"

The ground patterns set off some nice reflections on the flanks of your ride.

Car looks ON FIRE.......I'm sure there will be a few who will now consider this Range Rover red in future.

New rims Can't beat that time when the rims are box fresh. This is a unique opportunity when they're spotless to keep them indoors, wipe down with ipa and apply Gtechniq C5 wheel armour at your leisure in the comfort of your own home. Then buy some C2v3 (which is dead cheap and easy to use) to top it off. I did this about 6 months ago on my daily used Zed and all I clean with now is shampoo. I use the C2v3 on the bodywork as my LSPand occasionally on my rims too. It's like water. Spray. Spread. Buff. Surfaces don't even have to be bone dry which is a bonus when topping up slickness to he rims.

Just let me know the time and the place and I'll meet up with you

Sounds like a plan veeg33. I'm pretty flexible up until Friday 12 Aug. I'll PM you my number and you can let me know when you're free

Love the last pic.

Looking crystal clear It's amazing how much better they make the whole car look. You'll be constantly looking at other peoples cloudy lenses now thinking "if only they polished them up their car would be so much better"
-
All I know is they look the business. All aggressive like a little fighter jet. Arden blue is my favourite but black with bronze rims looks pretty trick too

Top guys at L&C I once went for a service there and there were 2 other zeds there, owners and all. It was like a mini meet. Kinda reassuring leaving your Zed at the garage amonst other Zeds.- 1 reply

Most abrasive polishes will work ranging from dedicated polishes for paint or plastics to Megs Metal Polysh and even toothpaste Polishing by hand is possible. Is alot faster with a machine if you can get your hands on one. Then you can seal with a coating such as Gtechniq C4. This may need a top up after 6months or so. But polishing is so easy I wouldn't get too hung up on what sealant to use. I mean.....we often re wax or re seal THE WHOLE CAR every month or so......so not a big deal doing diddy headlight every few months with something as easy as a spra sealant and the like.
