TT Owner thinking of a Z

Recommended Posts

I've owned a MK1 Audi TT 225 (mapped to 250bhp) for almost 5 years and have absolutely loved the car to bits. However one car that's always had me curious about owning (suprisingly) is the 350z, specifically the GT4 edition or a 2006 > model.

The two main reasons for being curious about the Z are the extra bhp and that V6 sound.

The TT hasn't been cheap to maintain, lots of parts replaced over the years of ownership. Is there anything I need to look out for if I start viewing Z's.

I think you should read through various posts here to see what the re-occurring faults/issues that crop up.

And depending on your finances, I personally always stick to buying cars from the owner clubs, ones that are well known and have an active member that has kept a record of work done.

Obviously the interior is typical Japanese plastics, so it'll not be quite up there with German stuff (imho) BUT that is off-set by a far sweeter, fun drivers car (and plenty of options to take it more responsive/sporty or GT).

Forget the GT4 version unless you want a yellow zed. Always see them with a inflated price tag for no reason!

IMO go for a later car and if you can stretch to it go for a HR. although the earlier cars are still just as good. Keep going through the forum and clue yourself up with them.

I had a Mk1 225 TT. Since buying my Z I've never wished I still had the TT - And I've ownedmy Z over3 years now.

If you're a member of the TT forum and are used to the readily available advice and support it gives (which is often needed when owning a TT  ), this is something else that the Z offers. This forum and its members add to the ownership experience.

I also had a 225 TT Mk1 and much prefer my 350Z. The TT never quite felt like an involving drive although I liked the style and quality of interior.

If you can stretch to it, go for an HR version of the 350Z. The interior of the newer cars is better than the earlier cars so will not be such a shock going from the TT.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am still curious on the lookout for a 2006 onwards 350z. Most of the ones I see online are down south and I'm based near Manchester.

The sad part is I'll probably only get 3k part ex for my TT which I've spent quite a bit of money and time on over the past 5 years. The main thing I'll miss is the interior but I do prefer the exterior of the Z and obviously the bigger engine with more bhp will be bliss.
