Keyser Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 We had quite a gathering here today - First up was ddcboyle His Zed was in for - a banana arm While stripping we found a poorly looking stud - so that came out soon had him all sorted - also replaced his N/S CAT as the old one was not doing the job any more. By now the Zed Shed was filling up!! Some looked worried ???? some just ate cakes We had plenty As was the garden and road New Zed Shed mascot Then we ran a test on the car that keeps getting air locks If the dye turn yellow you have a blown head gasket O dear But all in all a good day with lots of fun and banter and a total of 9 350z's at one point 5 Quote

Dblock Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 good work guys. How does that tester work? Do you know what it is called I'd like to have look at it? Quote
GMballistic Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Great work ~ I'm sure ddcboyle and others really appreciated the help you've given them. Quote
Stutopia Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 There's more Zeds there than I've ever seen driving around! Great scenes. Where about, generally, is this place? I feel like as a Zed owner I should make a pilgrimage to worship there. Like going to Maranello if you're a Ferrari owner. Quote
GIXXERUK Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Is that what they call a sniffer test for the head gasket ? Quote

Bournemouth mate - always welcome to drop in (bring doughnuts ) @Dblock - it works by drawing vapour from the colant system through a chemical liquid that changes colour if hydrocarbons are present - I didn't get this one but the bay sells em basically this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLOCK-TESTER-UNIVERSAL-CYLINDER-HEAD-COMBUSTION-LEAK-GASKET-DAMAGE-TEST-/290937720560?_trksid=p2054897.l4276 1 Quote

gsexr Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Unfortuanate to get a head gasket issue unless its been cooked at some point Quote
ddcboyle Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Was a great day at the zed shed, til I realised I was going to be late for dinner and would get beaten up by the missus, so I shall be popping round again for a full day in near future Quote
glrnet Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Unfortuanate to get a head gasket issue unless its been cooked at some point I agree, it's one failing thing we haven't heard very much about at all, Zmanalex also confirmed that they are not known to fail very often at all. Quote

This engine has a complicated but mostly unknown (to us) history. I was 98% sure it wasn't head gasket but this seems to say otherwise - we need to decide on the next step now. I'm sure we will have more info in the next few weeks. Quote
Level 7 Boss Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 (edited) I agree, visiting the Zed shed is a pilgrimage all Zed owners should make. It should be part of our religion. Great work guys. Edited January 19, 2014 by Level 7 Boss Quote
Humpy Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Super weekend down at the Zed shed Thanks again for the hospitality folks much appreciated. Not so good though with the head gasket, fingers crossed a solution is forming shortly! Quote
