saihaynes Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 wow great job, look forward to seeing the finished product Quote
Stutopia Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Incredible job. I'd never dream of taking something like this on. Skills. What do you wash it with after? Also what's a reasonable expected life span? Quote
ChrisB Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Awesome job! ..although the car appears to have sneakily unwrapped a part of itself in the last photo Quote
Jmanji Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 After seeing this I'm thinking of possibly having a try, maybe even just some small parts initially. I used to build model planes and cover them with solar-film this was done with an iron and hairdryer , wondering if this would be along those lines of stretching heating and shrinking, getting the edges and curves must be the hard part not to mention getting it under and around the lights etc. You've make it look easy, but I'm sure it's not. Are we talking £5-600 trade price for the vinyl? Quote
cfoster Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 lol yeah I pasted them in the wrong order!!!! superstu - wash it as per any other car except no car washes! I just jet wash and either leather or dry with a towel! Vinyl is meant to last 5-8 years but all depends on how well its looked after, driven in what conditions etc. I've had a car wrapped well over a year and driven it all conditions and was still like new when I sold it on! Are we talking £5-600 trade price for the vinyl? Its all practice mate and a lot of patience. Not blowing my own trumpet but its not as easy as it looks, when I first started it took me ages to get it right!! Trade for the vinyl depends on brand, color, size/amount needed etc... £500/£600 is on the top end of cost.... Quote
Jmanji Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Thx, I guess there's only one way to find out. Im going to do some reading up on wrapping. I'll keep an eye out for your write up and tips !! Quote
14N Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 So is that why you bought a roadster? You thought the shape of the roof on a coupe would be a bit tricky to wrap? Joking! Obviously. Absolutely epic job. Looks great. Fancy doing mine? Quote
cfoster Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 haha yup, less vinyl to use!! In all seriousness the tailgate on a 350Z is a bit of a pig to do! I carbon wrapped my old 350 a few years back and remember it being a mare!! Quote
cfoster Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) Just a quick update, busy all day so no wrapping for me! Made a smaller numberplate but not tooo small! Also stuck the Nissan badge back on! Edited June 1, 2013 by cfoster Quote

jjt Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Really impressed by this; I did my roof a couple of months ago and it was one of the most frustrating things i've ever done! Quote
cfoster Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 (edited) Well bit of an update, had three weeks in the USA but spent the afternoon on Sunday to keep myself awake finishing the car off!! Pretty much all done now bar the mirrors. I might gloss black the lower rear valance and front valance as it looks a bit odd being with purpley metallic!! Very pleased with the result, really brightens the car up and with the metallic in the vinyl gives it a nice sparkle in the sun! Thought I would try a square plate on the back, not 100% sure yet if I like it, it is growing on me but we'll see! Edited June 27, 2013 by cfoster Quote
Will370z Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 (edited) Looks extremely professional, very very impressed Love the colour of those wing mirrors Edited June 27, 2013 by Will370z Quote

parello9 Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Wow! id luv to do this! you definatley have a talent there.. how did you get into wrapping cars etc? be good to find out properly Quote
4RE Leather Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Don't change anything as it looks perfect as it is. Black wheels would spoil it as it gives the impression there is an empty gap on each corner! Nice job:) Quote
ddcboyle Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Looks great had more trouble with mine but maybe just because it was my first time looks great though Quote
cfoster Posted June 28, 2013 Author Posted June 28, 2013 Cheers chaps - Will370z - the mirrors will be going white unfortunately, in real life they look as if they are missing being black!!! parello9 - got into it through interest really, had a signwriting company for years and years now on the side and fancied doing something different to signing vans and shop fronts!! Trying my hand at canvas and acrylic printing now which is a little different!! 4REleather - I was going to do the wheels black but I like it as it is now! Plus if I want to put it back to standard it would odd with black wheels ddcboyle - its only practice mate Quote
