Why do people leave the 350z

I have just recently bought a 350z.

Love it, great car (not had much to comapre it to though, unless a 2.0 N reg escort or 1.2 R reg corsa is much to compare too?)

But i see alot of people move away from zed ownership and just wondered why?

What reasons is there, its a great looking, good performing, okay built, reliable car. Only downfall for some are the 2 seats..

So for those of you would left the zeds in the past. How comes?

:snack:

I think the Zed becomes boring rather quickly.

The novelty factor has worn off quicker on the zed than my previous car. Plus options for making it go faster usually entail silly amounts of money, for small power gains relative to the rest of the Jap car scene.

The 350z is without doubt a very desirable car, judging by pretty much everyone's reaction

to mine since I've had it, we have to remember that although most of us here have one,

a lot of people wish they could own a car like that but they can't, so I still feel priveledged

to be driving one around. They are of course also highly rated by motoring journalists (with the exception of Clarkson,

although these days that doesn't count for much I'm afraid)

But they are very impractical, they are a luxury really, not even an everyday car, although some

do use them for that.

I can well understand people moving up to the Cayman's and so forth, but I think it would be difficult

to come down from a Z to a lesser car unless you really had to.

What I like about the car is that it has exactly the right balance of performance and comfort (along with some prestige)

whereas most other options seem to be one or the other

Well last year I was torn between the S2000 and 350z but ended up with an S2000 and loved every minute of it. Much more sports focus in terms of drivabilty and the gearbox and 9krpm was nothing short of exhilarating

Decided to sell up and get a 350z not because I didn't like the S2000 but I just fancied a change and since owning the Zed I realise that this is more fit for my needs and purpose.

I just get bored of cars quickly, not that I like them any less.

Z is the first performance car for me and I ain't going back to a humdrum. Hear that missus!!

I have already looked a couple of times on pistonheads so far. Just getting ideas. For me I'm thinking Maserati 4200 GT with a Larini exhaust, only cause they look and sound like a gentleman's Ferrari; let the flame begin on that

Though I know a Cayman/996 will tempt me.

Bradders.

THE ITCH :scare:

it think that gets most people but you'll find they owned the zed longer than any other car in thier life ;)

This

Now had mine for 3.5 years :surrender: Longest I'd ever kept a car before that was about 15months

For me and my other half (we both had Zeds) it was having a new addition to the family, however as much as I loved mine I could not justify the running cost of a 700 mile commute in it every week. Although it is a great sports car for the money it will still cost you in consumables to run long term.

A number of people have sold their Zeds on here for various reasons , money , upgrade to the new 370 or thought of selling before they depreicated too much since the 370 release?

But does'nt mean there is anything wrong with them its just the way of life :snack:

Like what's already been said really.

Why have you moved from your 2 previous cars? Time for a change? Upgrade?

They are great cars, no doubt, but nobody keeps one car forever do they?

I use mine every day, I'ver done about 25k in mine in 15 months and found it comfortable, practical, fast (enough) and it looks cool as f*k IMO. I've never owned a car that long before, and I can't see me selling for another year or two at least. when I do it'll be becuase it'll be fairly high miles, I'll have owned it long enough to get my kicks out of it and I'll hopefully be able to afford an upgrade, or something I can just use at weekends, and have a banger for commuting etc.

The only other reason I can think of is because of this forum :p

I can't see myself getting rid of the Zed anytime soon ... but then I've only had it for a year and a half ...

It usually takes me a few years before I get the itch ... I think the longest I've owned a car was 4 years ...

Even then I would probably only change it for something equally as nice!

I am currently considering a change and i've only had the car less than a year. The resson is a change in circumstances. I bought this car because I get a hire car every week for work so it is effectively a weekend car.

I'm due to change job soon and this will involve using my own car each week totalling over 20k + personal miles a year and parking in hotel/public/office car parks all week. Does it really make sense to do this in the zed? I really love the car but it's alot of miles and cost. I thought about a cheap car for the week but then i don't want to do 90% of my miles in a shed when i have a great car at home. Plus i have no garage and the cost of two cars just doesn't add up.

So i'm left with the choice of move on do 25k+ a year in the zed. Opinions welcome!

I rarely keep a car past the two year mark, and yet whilst I will admit to doing a fair amount of window shopping (well, and a bit more in some cases) in recent months regarding Exiges, 911s and Corvettes I still struggle to justify the 'upgrade' as the Zed just ticks so many boxes for me and for such a fair price in all aspects. I really can't see myself moving on any time soon, there's still so much more to get out of the car and also I'm sure there's more for me to learn as a driver that the Zed can teach me.

I find the Zed practical and inexpensive to run and am past worrying about 4 seats...wifes car does that! Ive still got the car I had when 18...thats 33 years and still like it although its become a bit familiar now!

what's the 33 year old car ?

Itchs come along all the time, but I have put time, effort and cash into this one so I am getting my moneys worth....

Unless someone comes along with about 16k then my itch may get easier to scratch!

I still check the R34 section on PH, GTROC & Autotrader daily

Have been looking at Supras & Evos latley aswell :surrender:

i went the other way, the zed is a lovely car but got bored, had it for about 16 months which is good going for me. 2 years is still my car record with my MR2 roadster. and part of the reason i've gone back to soft top motoring.

the s2000 just fits more of my wants and needs than the zed did.

glad i owned it but glad to move on as well. the itch came quicker than i expected with the zed.

been driving with the roof down and the music up loud and i've found myself actually smiling while i drive, something i never did in the zed.
