  1. I used to manage a PC building workshop, and even with our buying power of £30,000 worth of hardware orders a fortnight, we still were not buying enough to give us a great profit on hardware. To beat the big guys you would need to be ordering literally thousands of components at the one time, which would cost you hundreds of thousands of pounds. The money was mostly made with the warranty. But even that was a headache as people with a computer warranty will be on the phone 24/7 moaning about the computer running slow, or a pop-up thing, or a slight buzzing noise, blah blah. The whole ordeal was a sore head and the pc supply side of the business barely made a penny. The company only survived because it got paid to train individuals in using the PC which was golden. Not to discourage you, or anything! Maybe you could try and add a unique approach to your idea. Making custom built PC's with a visual design aspect. Then your charging people for the same old hardware but an artistic theme. More or less what Apple do
  2. Was it mechanical failure? If it's file system then give me a PM and I'll see if you can recover anything

  7. I disagree, someone in my family is loaded and has made his living out of gambling. Of course theres risk involved, but when calculated these risks can be reduced. Ie different people know roulette dealers throws and can guess an area where the ball will stop. Poker is a very very clever game which to play with skill is very hard to learn. The only question is if you want to take the risk and gamble. Every day we gamble in some form or other, but we calculate the risk involved. Theres a guy on here who has been posting up his poker matches, he makes his living from playing poker. I agree poker can be defined as a game of skill. But roulette and the likes are games of chance no matter what you say. The game is designed to have the odds stacked against you, just enough that you think your winning but will always be loosing. The only people that make money in a casino are the owners! You might be the lucky guy who puts down his first bet and wins a fortune, but chances are slim. Long term gamblers from my experience, always loose more than they gain. I have an uncle who's always shouting about the thousand here, or hundred there which he won on the horses or the football. But he never admits to the thousands he's lost before that.
  8. I was in a similar position for over 2 years in a job mate. Best thing I ever done was just walk away. I'm now happy as Larry in my new job and work for a proper organisation with established equality and diversity policy's and a professional attitude towards bullying and morale in the work force. These type of egomaniacs are not worth having discussions with, taking to tribunals or the effort of getting stressed over. If you are actually a hard worker then he does not deserve you as an employee, so leave peacefully and retain a professional attitude and work for an organisation that respect their employees. Remember you may rely on him as a reference in the future, so leave on good terms when possible.
  9. I buzzed off a clamp in England while doing a job with my dad a few years ago. Drove back to Glasgow and never heard of it again.
  10. Absolute jibber jabber to me! But I do find it interesting how much you make / loose, so keep it up! I used to fix a guys computer regularly who made a very profitable living from betting on the horses, which I thought was impressive !
  11. I know Vikki! I'll still try and come to cruises or meets if I get another nice one after the house purchase. It's just getting the mortgage with the car loan hanging over me that's proving difficult! Piping's fine Craig, making some good progress now are you keeping it up? Irfan not sure mate, I'll need to see what spare change married life leaves me with when I do the deed next year. Good job keeping your zed by the way, any secrets how you done it?
  12. Time to get a mortgage and grow up Cars for sale up on Pistonhead's. Let me know if I've missed anything If there's any members interested, just shoot me a PM! http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2417667.htm I'll still be sticking around
  13. Stamps from reputable garages give greater peace of mind which you cant put a price on. I overlooked a lot of zeds which didn't have FSH. I don't like the idea of some weekend mechanic doing the servicing. But that's just me.
  14. Buy your tyres off Camskills on-line then get a local place to fit them. Guy round my bit takes 15 quid for it. Do not go to kwik fit.
  15. I've stuck some weights in my boot. I can't justify a few hundred on snow tyres so going the old fashion way. Extra weight and lots of caution, seems to be working fine so far.
  16. I used to take my pulsar to a place in Wishaw called 'The Garage'. They primarily specialise in jap cars and the owner Mark is a nice guy. http://www.the-garage.co.uk/ They do a lot of high spec skylines and stuff so the 350z would be right at home.
  17. How much did the CF3 software cost you? I must acquire a copy my self.
  18. Nice come back! on yer sel higgins! Pot on that last brown was immense.
  19. hmm, looks pretty sweet on google images. Arguments or me to get an IPad are increasing every day !!
  20. It's a really weird market to try and give advice on mate, just so many brands offering different specs. I would suggest going onto Ebuyer & Scan, going to the laptop section, putting in the minimum spec he wants, i.e. 15" screen, big hard drive for music, mediocre processor and ram. and then altering your specs based on the prices that return. Once you've done that, compare it with Scan.co.uk and see if the prices are similar. Then decide on which brand out of those you want. I could recommend a laptop but it would probably be out of date next week, superseded by a new deal. You just need to research I'm afraid. Also recommend checking hotukdeals for their recent laptop bargains.
  21. I was parked up beside a friend of mine who also has Zed, at a five aside pitches. He has a private reg and I don't but his tyres were slashed when we went back to the car and mine wernt. He cant remember upsetting anyone in particular so I put it down to his flashy reg plate Some people are just really envious and like to get one over you, I think with a nice car and a private reg you could just incite that behaviour. But I still think they look good if they are done well.
  22. Feel free mate. Don't overlook Dell Outlet: http://www1.euro.dell.com/uk/en/dfo/df. ... d=df&s=dfo I got my parent's a £650 laptop for £400 because someone had opened the box, decided they didn't want it and sent it back to Dell. Various difference levels of 'return' such as scratch and dent, or opened and unwanted. But there's deffo bargains to be had since Dell can't sell them as 'new'. This laptops been great for near a year now, looked brand new and zero defects and has all the falderals. Plus you still get the full warranty and support.
  23. When folk buy mac's its not because they are weighing up the options mate, it's because they want that iconic design and prestige membership of being a mac owner, which is more important than performance over cost. If you love the look and can use the operating system then go for the mac if that's what your after, you probably wont regret it seeing as your a brand whore If your a penny pincher and feel you need to get the very best of performance over cost then get on hotukdeals and find your self an Acer, Dell, one of other 5000 brands. Up to you mate! If you want a hand picking something other than mac give me a shout and I'll have look for decent deals for you Either way you aren't wrong for buying either, it's all personal choice.
