Maybe, but a lot of it comes down to price. You get people who refuse to ever spend decent money on decent rubber and who will claim that the FK453s are amazing and capable of handling their uber-Evo, but ultimately that's only because they're too tight to try something better. Then you get the opposite, the people who only ever buy brand names and refuse to accept that actually the Pirelli P Zero is a shockingly bad tyre, but because F1 use it then it must be amazing so it gets a high score.
On some tyres sure, it's probably a reasonable presumption but ultimately I'd rather listen to five people who know what they're talking about than a million who have no idea. Same reason I use specialist advice for suspension rather than a dozen people saying "Oh just go to X as they've got a Hunter machine".
