  1. No kids for me thanks. I totally understand that it must be heartbreaking, I didn't say otherwise. What I was getting at was a possible solution, which isn't always the nicest thing in the world to do but regardless, if it's the right thing then it has to be done. If the routine carries on then nothing will change, and clearly that would be more upsetting for the child long-term as she'll always associate music camp with being upset, and someone with talent like hers that would be a massive shame. Definitely no phones should've been the rule, but then you'll get the odd parent who demands that their little precious absolutely must be able to call mummy and daddy whenever they like, and for a quiet life it's easier to agree sometimes. Not saying that was the case here, just offering a viewpoint.
  2. Exactly. Being able to aim/open your legs doesn't automatically make you a good parent, either.
  3. Is that not what I said? You should see some of the 'parents' at her school. Sub-human scum who couldn't care less about their kids, and see school as nothing more than free daycare. The only time the kids get any attention/affection is from the teachers, TAs and mid-day assistants. Jo regularly gets in early to make breakfast (nothing more complicated than toast) for one kid as otherwise they may not get fed as the mum regularly 'forgets' to make breakfast or lunch for the child. Obviously the school ends up picking up the tab for a cooked lunch, but even so...
  4. Bloody hell, way over my head! There's a thread going on in a similar form on another forum I frequent, all about physics and relativity and stuff. I've left one alone, too!
  5. I'm not getting into this with you. Being a good parent and being a good teacher are both important roles in bring up children, one is no good without the other. Just because you can breed and manage to get your kids to survive, doesn't automatically make a good parent. Not saying that ioneabee isn't a good parent though! Just saying in a more general term, is all. I've never refereed professional football, but I can still see a clear penalty when watching it
  6. RAC have always been great with me, both with the VXR and numerous times with the 911 via Porsche Assist who they have the contract with. I'd go with them or the AA though, whoever was cheaper. Much of a muchness, I think.
  7. *sigh* No, I don't have kids. I still have an opinion, though. Just mentioned this to the wife, she reckons it might be an idea to speak to the staff there and get them to find an excuse for the 7:30pm call not to take place for one night, i.e. a film night, or no phones after 6pm or something. Get them to take her mind off building her up for that single phone call. So yeah, ignoring the call is probably a bit harsh, but breaking the cycle is a sound idea. She has a degree in child psychology and currently teaches primary level kids, if that allows her to have an opinion Dblock.
  8. Don't answer the 7:30pm one, it's just pandering to her. She's well supervised, clearly not hating it else she'd want to come home, and not speaking to her parents for one night isn't going to hurt her. Must be horrible for you to hear her so upset, but it desperately sounds like attention seeking to me.
  9. 95 is ONLY okay on HR 350s or the 370 as they have knock control for it at high revs. DE and Revup 350s do not, and you can cause massive engine damage by using 95 on those cars.
  10. Pressures too high for sure. Stick with 35psi as a start, and adjust up or down from there for preference. Mixed tyres are not a good idea, see the Sticky for details. However, MPSS all round would be a fabulous upgrade to your car.
  11. It's just a craze, like chrome wraps. Much like chrome wraps, they look shite. The fad will die off soon. Hopefully like the 'tards that abuse their cars like this.
  12. I agree, and I like some dance stuff. Hell, some of the songs posted on here I'd love if I was in a club, I just wouldn't listen to them at any other time. My taste in music ranges from Girls Aloud to The Beatles to Nirvana to Snoop Dogg to Aphex Twin. The only genre I really am not keen on is R'n'B, but aside from that I'm quite easy going.
  13. Yeah, I struggle with that a lot. Sometimes now I'll take a couple of shots each time, one level and then one at a deliberate angle so it doesn't look quite so much like I can't hold the camera level. I've managed to get some pretty decent pics that way, too. I definitely agree with the others, that pic that Neil picked is by far the best and is a really well-composed shot.
  14. Lucky sod What I can't understand, and it's not just an age thing as I felt exactly the same in my yoof, is listening to dance music during the day. I totally get why people like it when you're out for a night on the town, back in the late 90's/early 00's when I used to go clubbing I loved it too, but that was it. Come the daytime I wanted something that actually resembled a song to sing along to, rather than a phat beat to keep yo ass shakin' on tha floor. I still don't get it now. Not so much the dance/pop tunes (like Calvin Harris or pretty much any other dance tune that breaks the Top Ten), but the slightly more obscure stuff that you'd only ever hear in a club with minimal vocal content. How or why people would choose to listen to that during the day is beyond me. Any other musical style I get, from classical through to rap, but dance? Nope. Never have, never will.
  15. I'm sorry, how do you know exactly what I have/have not driven? If you could point me to the part of my comment where I said the 370 was in anyway a poor car or a bad choice, then that would be great. OH WAIT I DIDN'T The 370 isn't a popular car: Nissan haven't sold many at all, not compared to the 350, hence my comment. You don't see many on the roads at all, mostly because no-one wants a large-engined car with poor fuel consumption and high road tax. It's the way of the world and all large-engined cars of the same ilk have suffered equally, and unless fuel suddenly drops in price or VED or insurance is slashed then that's the way it will stay. It's great for the end user who can pick up a bargain, but don't kid yourself that the 370 is at the end of the depreciation curve. It's not, not by a long shot. Like I said, I don't care one jot about depreciation but some people do, which is why I mentioned it. Sorry matey, but there's no need to have a pop at me and basically accuse me for slagging off the 370 when I did no such thing. I gave an opinion, and I'd like think a relatively unbiased one seeing as how I don't even own a 370. Whether the OP chooses to take that into consideration is their own choice.
  16. MX5. No brainer. Fun, cheap, but not made in the olden days out of flint.
  17. I need to buy a 7, just so I can join in. That's my kind of forum, educating whilst entertaining!
  18. Hey, if they're willing to do it then even better! Get it in writing, happy days.
  19. Just be aware of depreciation. The 370 isn't a loved car by the populous in general, hence the low prices. In a year or maybe two fuel, tax and insurance will be more expensive for everyone, so a cheap 370 may lose even more than you think. You can't help the cars you fall in love with and want though, and tbh I've never given depreciation a single thought in any of my car purchases ever.
  20. They'll probably give you 8 years on one car and nothing on the other, as you haven't had it insured for a year yet. No chance 8 years NCB on both cars. If they did, it would be a very easy way for folks to get many years of multiple NCBs quite easily, I wouldn't be surprised if, regardless, you only got one NCB anyway.
  21. It's a mess, but then you knew that. Also, she has manlier legs than I do, and that's not saying that mine are particularly feminine.
  22. Ekona

    Help with tyres

Just get some 18s. As Neil has said, you really won't be struggling for grip on those.
  23. Scary thing is that all cars, without fail, sound better in real life than on video. If Crumb's car sounds that good on video, imagine how good it sounds in the flesh!
