  1. £2K respray? For the whole car? That seems a bit optimistic unless you're doing it yourself. I reckon close to double that for a decent job, maybe even triple.
  2. I can imagine. Onwards and upwards is the only way, think about the future not what you've lost, get excited about the next project
  3. Bingo. Some bonkers pace/lines in that kind of weather. Felt a bit sorry for the Jag XJ though, that looked pretty unlucky to me.
  4. First off, massively sorry to hear about this mate, must've been absolutely awful Just glad you're okay, that's so much more important than a car even if it doesn't seem so right now. This is why I bang on to people about insuring what you want insured, not just the bare minimum. Nic did it correctly and had his mods insured, even if they weren't insured for their full value. Most people just have coverage that lets them have mods on their car, which means you could put £10K worth of wheels, bodykits etc and get precisely zero back. Sorry to hear you didn't get as much back for the mods as you wanted mate, but I don't think you did too bad out of that having heard a few horror stories. No comfort, I know, but hopefully it'll still give you a base to move onto the next project with.

    'STANG thread

I hope the owner of the white car kicked the Mustang owner square in the balls when the camera stopped rolling.

  8. Doesn't support throttle position logging though, unless it's a feature they don't mention on that page.
  9. notice the stick in front of the handbrake You're making excellent progress, young padawan
  10. Good spot, sir. Any downsides to that? I assume it's relatively straightforward.
  11. With pro detailing/correction you're not paying for the materials and a bloke standing there with a machine, you're paying for the skill, knowledge and technique. A lot of people think that correction is a piece of cake and that anyone can do it (no-one on this thread so far, I hasten to add!), but the level of skill actually required is very high, not to mention knowing when enough is enough so you don't wreck the finish! That said, a DA machine will probably get you close to where you want to be, but ultimately nothing beats a rotary. And therein lies the danger of removing too much paint... Blackhole is good stuff, but ultimately it's just hiding things. That's not to say I don't use it, it certainly has its place, however it also has limitations.
  12. If I have to tell you again about bloody autos in a sports car...!
  13. Seems a reasonable budget. Don't not buy a car just because of the forum though. There's as much good info on the cars from chaps on here as anywhere else, and this place is too ace to leave
  14. GTT > RX7, unless you're hung up on looks. I agree 100% with Rich, if the GTT is looking pricey then don't even think about an RX7. You'll need a much higher budget just to enter at a decent level, and then you've got to keep it there... What is the budget anyway?
  15. The ragtop is much better for room in the back, I'd have been quite happy to sit in there for a longer trip.
  16. Thing with the Hass is that it's not just Ferrari parts, it's also the fact they've had free run on the Ferrari wind tunnel by exploiting a (now closed) loophole. And of course, this info wouldn't have hurt Ferrari one little bit But yes, they've done very well. We'll never know how they would've been without Maranello, but certainly Grosjean is doing his chances of a red seat next year no harm at all.
  17. The only reason Ferrari have been so close is because they've been running their engines on the limit. They'll have to turn them back down now to improve reliability, so you can expect the gap to the Mercs to increase again.

    Rear coilovers

But you've asked for just the rears...

    Rear coilovers

Ah okay, you're misusing the phrase coilover, that's why I don't understand You don't have any kind of coilover anything on the rear. What you have are lowering springs, with an adjustable mount. I wouldn't change just the rear dampers without doing the fronts too, mismatched shocks can be horrendous for stability under load.

    Rear coilovers

That's what a coilover is, a coil (spring) over a damper. The OEM standard is coilover fronts and separate springs & dampers on the rear. You don't want that, trust me. You say you already have rear springs with adjustable dampers though, but you then say you have standard shocks too?
  21. Have you ever seen a lightly used GT3 wheel? Even with gloves, it'll be wrecked in short order. There's lots of different types of leather, perforated would be my pick.
  22. Wrap the car? At least that way if you get a nick or whatever, you can just re-wrap the panel in question with ease.
  23. Amen! Can't stand the bloody stuff, it's like nails down a blackboard to me.
