We have had a 17 year old driving his mum's UY GT4 on a Wales weekend (and as an aside he had been instrumental in making some excellent upgrades on the car). Car in this pic and (forgot his name) in the check shirt. And to be fair his driving was of a very high standard - both quick and safe. But I believe that was with a one-off insurance arrangement that nowadays may be impossible to get.

Sorry Ilogikal1, and I do not know if you work for the DVLA given your responses, but you will see on this link that it says refunds for full months unexpired tax will be paid. As I read that as long as you have a proof of posting (easily done over the counter at a PO) then it does not matter when the DVLA say they received it. http://www.findlaw.c...e_tax/9936.html When to apply It’s important to ensure your application is posted before the first day of the month from when you wish to claim the refund. and How much refund will you receive? You’ll receive a refund for each full month left on your tax disc, assuming you post it to the DVLA before the first day of the first month of the refund. I hate people being ripped off and just posting this up for our members' benefit so that they can make sure they get a full refund Edit: Just to add, when I sold GUNs in October I actually handed over the completed V5 confirming the sale at the PO and got a receipt to that effect (on the 17th of the month) and they sent it off in their courier post so it didn't cost me anything.

No longer the case this side of the pond Jim http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/vehicle-tax-changes-make-sure-you-know-the-new-rules-from-1-october-or-risk-1000-fine-9690815.html

Yet again had to disaprove several for sale post this evening because sellers are not reading the rules

It says suitable for 2003-2009 coupes and roadsters, which would be correct as the footwells were unchanged.

On the other hand DVLA have taken money twice for December, given what Whacky says the new owner did, so is that right under the new system where everyone has to claim back unexpired tax and require new owners to tax, rather than inherit unexpired tax as before? Seems to me they 'want their cake and eat it', and really with the new system it should not matter when the claim for the unexpired tax is sent in.....if they can see from their system the car has been re-taxed by another for the period being claimed

Fingers crossed for you Andy they get it right this time.

Having done less than 500 miles in it Dan and still in the run-in period some way to go before I can, or more correctly, try to fully explore its limits. But having had 2 scoobys and knowing their power/grip levels and as you say, good fun to drive on/near the limits, I'm kinda expecting the same with the '45. As you know Dan, sideways on track is the not the quickest way round although the odd tail out is hard to resist But as track work is not my thing I look for cars that give driving pleasure in varying ways - as fast as circumstances allow but always with safety in mind. As I found with the ZEDs their ability outshone mine and yes I had to conceed that the MPSS added another dimension to the 370's level of grip. In fact in the dry it became hard work to get the tail to let go in a controlled way - and I have to say that is where the Sesstanas were good as there were no nasty surprises and any oversteer (induced or otherwise) was easily controlled/corrected. But in the wet the MPSS were in a different league and and so you were right. What have I have just said But take a look at this vid - I'm no Sutcliffe fan but its one of the better ones to show how an A45 performs. And I think like you, I admire the technology in purpose designed drivers' cars and for me I see the '45 as a challenge and although I was very impressed with the test drive of the M135i, I simply could not come to terms with its looks and speccing that up to include a LSD and the 'necessary options' was topping 35k and with a few other niggles it wasn't to be. Did consider a Golf R, but VW reputation is pretty dire atm from what I have been reading so I very glad June could see where my heart was, and I hope my head. We shall see.

Hi Jay Basic OTR price (new) is about £38k. But most go for many of the options and you could end coughing up near on £50k But second hand ones with a decent spec are appearing between £35/£40k. My budget was £40k tops and fortunately I saw it as a 2 month old 70mile demonstrator with all the right bits apart from the exclusive package (leather seats basically) for less. I had intially put those on my 'must have' list but having driven a well run-in '45 in anger and then mine and now with the June saying she finds the standard spec seats very comfortable, I'm beginning to wonder about the press stories of the ride being too firm. But then having come from ZEDS, good handling has always been one of my priorities when buying cars I am finding the car to be a dream and with the AWD I just had a little play on an (empty) wet roundabout this morning and the grip is astonishing (even with out MPSS ) and unlike the ZEDs you can boot it quite hard well before the exit with no drama. Really pleased with the optional performance exhaust and steering wheel - has much better paddles, but I could do with someone like Professor Hawkins in the car to show me all functions of the Comand system - seems to have more options than my PC & iPad But then as a £2.3k option I guess it should have! Still coming across things I didn't know were on the car, or I had glazed over when reading the spec lists. No idea about the petrol consumption - something that is off the bottom of my worry about list

Beautiful looking car Wonder how much in the 'go' department is derived from Honda's new F1 power, as the timing seems co-incidental. Perhaps I am reading too much into it.

I was told (by an AMG salesman) that they have never been produced in manual.

Part of the planning application process when new housing is proposed near any noisy activity, but sadly you always get those who move in, not having first checked the environment around them, and start to want to change things...... Yep, the GB nimbys get everywhere! -
See, 4 seats are working well already - I can 3 people at once instead of just one

Edited title as per OP's request

Don't worry that won't last much longer, ...the way parello's Zeditus is. Be lowered on bags with stretch tyres & goodness know's what else my March at the latest is my guess.

Grundy is certainly a potentially good source for parts for anyone thinking of doing the same Seriously that is awesome Matt - do the 6 'pots' get used for the next round of cans/bottles then -
As the A45 AMG's don't have clutches you would be fine More seriously, the seat adjustment and the column adjustment both up and own and in and out means it is very easy, even for me at 6' 2", to find a comfy driving position.

The roof wrap was something I had been very tempted to do with the gloss black and so glad you finally ticked that box for me But now I've got a genuine panoramic roof with the A45

Still running it in at the mo, but the grip is insane and I thought the 370 with the MPSS on was good, but this is another league and on Continentals of some description. Might take me 12 months to understand all the info you can access though but can't wait to test out the launch control...and no limit on the number of times you can use it - apart from the hit on the wallet for new tyres . Oh the car won't let you if the oil, water and gearbox fluid are not up to temp. Taking a bit to get use to the headlight and wiper controls on a single stalk and with the cruise control on another stalk just underneath as well as flicking the downshift paddle - all on the left hand side and then there is the control for the Comand on the tunnel so my left hand is still kept very busy even though there is no gearlever But I like a challenge and the 's are well and truly back.

Well, after GUNS found a new home with parello9, me having decided for various reasons that something with 4 seats and a hatch was necessary and having toyed with the idea of an M135i or a Golf R or GTi, I got the OK to go for something that I had had an itch to scratch, having being impressed by the kit.......if not the price. But then saw a 3 month old s/h one with just 70 miles on the clock effectively saving me some £5k on list and with most of the the options I was after and in the right colour - yes it had to be white again In fact I bought GUNs in similar circumstances! I had been hoping Nissan would have confirmed the Nissan Pulsar R Concept as a an actual goer, but with nothing forthcoming Here she is: I have always had high regard for Evo reviews and this one helped to plant the seed for me (if anyone is interested in the detail): http://www.evo.co.uk..._and_specs.html But having the most powerful 2litre petrol engine using a twin scroll T/C - 360bhp/450Nm torque; permanent 4WD, a 0-60 time of 4.6 (4.3 with the launch control ) and a whole host of gizmo's I have only just begun to uncover I decided that I could live with the 7-speed auto especially after a test drive - in sport mode it pops and bangs on the upshifts as well as matching the revs on the downshifts Something I learnt when I asked and got a rather strange look from the salesman is that AMG never use manual boxes It is a completely different drive to the 370 but then I was ready for something different after 9 years of ZED ownership - and I have to say that has been the best 9 years driving experience in my near on 50 year driving career. Anyways, I'll shut up now and post some more pics: Arundel Cathedral in case you were wondering. Like the AMG idea of one man builds the engine and in my case it was Florian - still trying to find out more about him! In fact it has two steering wheels (Just me playing about using the sd card slot on the Comand system - new that is a £2.3k option ) Some neat touches with the illuminated sills and usual German red warning lights in the case of the boot doubling up as a courtesy light too. Having picked it up on 2nd Jan and today was the first chance I got to give it a good clean and went out to Arundel in the sun to take some pics and bugger me the sun went in So, tear me to pieces now but at least I know when I meet up with life-long friends I have met on here with their Zeds I will stand a chance of keeping up.........I hope
