Reputable Japanese/Performance Garages in Kent?

The chances are that you have Bridgestone 040's on the car. It is not adviseable to use the much superior Bridgestone 050A's just on the rear as it will show up a lack of grip at the front. The 040's are rather poor in the wet and no doubt why Nissan stopped supplying them on the later 350's and 370's. There are varying opinions about what tyres are best, but what we do know from experience of the ZED is that it is safer to use 4 tyres of the same make and type and even tread wear. Unfortunately the more expensive they are the better they are likley to be, but that is not to say some of the mid-range tyres are perfectly suitable. In the dry you can get away with various combinations but in the wet the ZED can be a real handful and that is where tyre choice becomes critical. A set of 452 Falkens all round can be had for under £500 - if budget is limited - I have used them and found them more than adequate. Otherwise go for a full set of 050A's if you can.

"Viewing is always warmly welcomed, BEFORE BUYING NOT AFTER, Please kindly remember you buy/bid at the asking price and not to haggle afterwards. All though I have listed this BMW with best offers I would like nearer asking price so please refrain from making silly offers. A token deposit of £100 would be appreciated if you use the buy it now option just to secure the car. 'You can see from my feed back I describe the cars accurately as possible and I like to make sure the customer is happy with their purchase'' Is he sure it is an Nissan? Typical trader error although not in the same league as a certain S2000 outfit.

There is some good avice here: http://www.drivingfast.net/techniques/w ... niques.htm From my "off-road" days I find that if you do get in a slide and balancing the motion in first gear on the clutch without stalling isn't helping, don't use the foot brake but use the handbrake, on and off quickly cadance style. Using the footbrake is only likely to increase the slide speed and all the ABS wil be doing is making a lot of noise. Whilst the ZEDs ABS will theoretically allow you to steer I have found that to keep to a preffered direction appropriate levels of handbrake leverage will also help to 'steer' the rear end, which you will not be able to do with the footbrake on. All of this is only recommended at low speeds though as if the conditions are that bad and you are going too fast there's no helping you

.... and expensive BTW, if your are searching make sure they are from an MY06 facelift model, rather than an 06 otherwise you could end up with the same lights you already have

Yep, I would recommend Brodit - no holes of glue so leaves no marks when you remove it. What I had in the 350 and what I have in the 370

Used to be bob-a-job in my day Think I'll go round clearing some drives as a sideline - I reckon the new leaf blower I've got would make it an easy fiver

The 350 spacesaver certainly does not fit over the 370 calipers. But by using a 15mm spacer it will fit on a 370, which requires the removal of the 10mm bolt. In snow you are worse off having wide wheels - rather like aquaplaning with standing water (recent F1 wet races demonstrated that so well). In fact in any slippery conditions the narrower the driven wheels the better (as I remember from my trialing days) and the reason why winter tyres not only have chunky tread blocks but are considerably narrower than 'summer tyres' , so I would not agree with Ekona's suggestion in the context of this thread heading.

Thought the space saver went on the rear - doesnt clear the front Brembos? Got me thinking now - is that why the "bolt" is fitted to the front hubs to stop the spacesaver being used there, as you fit the rear OEM wheels on the front with the bolt in place. 2006 hand book warning notes about the spare and no other warnings I can see about not using on the front/rear axles : The T-type spare tire should be used for emergency use only. It should be replaced by the standard tire at the first opportunity. Drive carefully while the T-type spare tire is installed.Avoid sharp turns and abrupt braking while driving. Periodically check the T-type spare tire inflation pressure, and always keep it at 60 psi (420 kPa, 4.2 bar). Do not drive your vehicle at speeds faster than 50 MPH (80 km/h). Do not use tire chains on a T-type spare tire. Tire chains will not fit properly on the T-type spare tire and may cause damage to the vehicle. Tire tread of the T-type spare tire will wear at a faster rate than the standard tire. Replace the T-type spare tire as soon as the tread wear indicators appear. Because the T-type spare tire is smaller than the original tire, ground clearance is reduced. To avoid damage to the vehicle, do not drive over obstacles. Also, do not drive the vehicle through an automatic car wash since it may get caught. Do not use the T-type spare tire on other vehicles. Do not use more than one T-type spare tire at the same time. Do not tow a trailer while the T-type spare tire is installed. Which means my idea of using 2 spacesavers is out

On your previous thread Mark from Abbey said: "knocking noise , detonation maybe? was you running low on fuel when you added the injector cleaner? Do a ECU reset and make sure the ca rid fille dup with Super before running it again. But reading the problem I suspect a Air flow meter problem , Zmanalex can supply these as a good price at the moment" Is this the answer?? As you say, its black smoke so hopefully it is not the engine bottom end. I suggest you get a decent mechanic to take a look - send a pm to ChrisS who is in your part of the world - he knows a good one
