Where I live in a suburban area, so I guess I am a 'townie'. With open areas quite close by we see many foxes in our garden but we get more peeded off with a neighbour's dog that barks incessantly, and cats that foul and spray and cause more damage than the foxes and often 'seen-off' by the feline population who also take great delight clawing their way onto and off the top of cars they use as lookouts Back on topic, and what I see is voiced very strongly in the posts above, and understandably so, is the attitude of the red-coats and those who go out of their way to stop hunts. Two extremes, but I am not so sure that the perception that the latter are mainly 'townies' is correct - more like the rent-a-mob brigades from all areas who just like a ruck - the student protests being the latest. Do I think it is right foxes are torn apart by dogs - NO - surely if dog fighting is supposedly banned, any 'sport' that involves one animal losing its life by being torn to death, or near to death, by one or more other animals for human pleasure is just wrong. If horseriders want to dress up in red coats and blow horns and race around their fields with their dogs, good luck to them, just hope in the process the horses and dogs survive without serious injury. Culling is surely the answer where problems arise, and in the countryside farmers are best placed for the purpose IMO. But then that should not be limited to foxes but badgers as well -a known killer of cattle albeit by disease, but which are a protected species in the same way as bats (what use are they?) both of which are often deemed more important to protect it seems (and speaking from direct experience) than the food we eat or the homes we wish to create As said in one or two posts above, we should be careful as we have a passion for a car that in the eyes of the 'greenies' would be near the top of cars that should be banned, if they had their way. So I suggest we worry more about enjoying our passion while we still can, because in our hearts we know that the time is not far off that it will become one of severely controlled pleasures and we will lose, or be priced out, of our enjoyment. You only have to look at what car manufacturers are turning to in engine development because of world pressure. That development certainly dosen't include a meaty sounding fossil-fueled V6, which other new fuels are unlikely to replicate, and is the heart and soul of the ZED as we know it.

No HGV licence Dave, but a clean driving licence and has a moped for the Knowledge, so good for courier work given what he has already learnt about London's streets. Not sure if is prepared to go as far as wearing stockings Dave, but if means some earnings

Not sure which guide you have used but this one would appear to cover what you are asking? But as Chris says, you might be better off getting a replacement motor and if you do buy one from either ZMANALEX or R35LEE I am sure if you ask nicely they will provide some verbal help in fitting what you purchase from them, if you get stuck

My youngest son (31) decided earlier this year he wanted to be his own boss as a black cabbie in London and is part-way through "The Knowledge" surviving on his g/f, the odd job and me to fund his career change (from IT support). Goal is to be cabbing in time for the 2012 Olympics. He has been doing house renovations and the like but that has dried up and despite endless online applications for driving/IT and anything really, is getting zero offers. Given he is available to work flexible/unsociable hours it is surprising and more than a little frustrating. Got me wondering, so out to the 370 with the tape measure Door fully opened, measured at 90 degrees from roofline level is 1250mm and measured from the doorsill (the part otherwise closest to a wall) is 1020mm. They said the 370 was smaller

Yes, more weight in the boot will certainly help traction (same principle as engine, front or rear, over the driven wheels). But as indicated, tyres with a good tread depth and the more 'block' in pattern like winter tyres are essential, for cars like the ZED. You can try dropping the tyre pressures (I'm just thing back to my trialing days when I would drop to around 10psi or lower), but with wide tyres on ice, as on heavily mudded surfaces, that can work against you as cutting through to solid ground where there is grip really demands narrow tyres, which we don't have. So on balance I tend to leave the pressures on the ZED around 30psi at this time of year, but I am really tempted to try a pair of spacesaver wheels if I knew the majority of a planned drive was going to be on snow covered roads and you know you are unlikley to ever get up to speed. On the spacesavers you could also use chains if you really got into heavy snow but honestly, using the ZED with spacesavers and chains in such conditions has really got to be a last resort, but it would interesting to try it out

Maybe the screenwash additive is not sufficient for the particularly cold conditions we are having, especially in the rural areas, is partly to bame? Because the headlight washers automatically work if your headlights are on and the wipers are used, we know how a weak concentrate spray can immediately freeze on hitting the screen, then chances are anything that comes out the headlight washers will also immediately freeze? A hairdryer should at least help to re-seat the washers.
