  1. At least he didn't take anyone out. How would it work in a case where someone clearly unqualified to drive at the event causes huge economical damage to one or more teams? On the one hand you've got the old, 'it's a racetrack, don't go if you can't afford to be wiped out by someone else', but on the other hand, you've got to blame the driver himself for not preparing well enough, and/or the race organisers for letting an amateur on the track. So, what do you guys who race reckon? If he had taken out a team car, let's say, what do you think would have happened? Driver sued? Organisers sued? And what outcome?
  2. omg. I genuinely believe my GTR Evolution experience has prepared me better than that guy. Do you know his story? Is he a driver? Or a butcher or a baker or something?
  3. The 15s stop n go was a very light penalty for the incident (based on the assumption that they did indeed feel that the Bentley driver was responsible, which clearly they did, rightly or wrongly), he got disqualified for failing to serve that, but then, his failure to stop was due to marshal screw ups. So yeh, harsh all round really.
  4. Geo and/or tyres. In the dry, mine's solid as hell, rear-end starts skipping ever so slightly as a first warning that you're nearing the limit, but it's still got more even after that. I have stock ARBs, brand new HSD coilovers, brand new tyres and a recent alignment (all about 400 miles ago), and I recently tested it on a local quiet stretch of motorway which has some pretty epic corners and I was very pleased, I have some worn bushes and it was still super predictable and chuckable, even at speed. I suppose it's worth mentioning since we're talking about high speeds, I also have a much more aggressive rear spoiler than the stock one.
  5. You get given a Super GT Ferrari 488, you love it, you do well in practice, then some **** in a bentley causes a huge pile up before the first corner and that's that, car destroyed. Said Bentley gets a 15s stop-go penalty after destroying 10m quids worth of cars, and doesn't even serve it in time, getting hiself disqualified from the race. What a nob. Hey at least his car was totally undamaged. To be fair, the Bentley driver denies responsibility, he was disqualified due to marshall screw ups that caused him to be UNABLE to serve his penalty, and generally this race was a total debacle. There are also apparently some datalogs that prove that the Bentley was hit first, but still... http://gtspirit.com/2017/05/03/202425/
  6. As title really. I used to play Race07 a bit, was thinking about picking up a serious Fanatec wheel and building a little cockpit thing. Was wondering what people are playing competitively these days? I hear Asetto Corsa has great physics, important, but iRacing has a huge playerbase. Any thoughts?
  7. There's a set of these going cheap over here in reasonable condition, are they a straight install to a 2003 coupe? I don't think the seller is including the switches, will they be the same? Anyone know?
  8. Welcome back! Spyder headlights are dogshit, you can't fix them without unsealing them I believe, just get yourself some facelifts.
  9. To be fair, if you did have a 17kg DMF on your mountain bike and you approached the hill at a speed of 40 mph, you probably wouldn't have to pedal much to get to the top. Same effect in the car.
  10. Whats the gran turismo myth? I think my car would benefit from this mod - just cant afford it atm, will defo do it though come clutch change time. Whenever you looked at the description of the 'lightweight flywheel' upgrade in gran turismo original, 2 and 3, it stated that the car would gain better throttle response but that hill climbing effort woud be negatively affected. Sure enough, there is a slight difference, but it's not extreme, but it led to a generation (myself included) believing that fitting a ightweight flywheel would suddenly make the car torqueless. Very funny in retrospect, but there ya go! It's total bollocks, naturally.
  11. While the 350Z is not a refined car, there are those who value the refinement there is, those who like a smooth quiet car. If you are that person, a lightweight single mass flywheel is not for you. If however, you enjoy driving the car and can see past a few extra noises, it is an extremely worthwhile investment. It wakes the car up, makes it feel about 100kg lighter (which is pretty much what the scientific effect is of shedding nearly 10kg from the flywheel) and rev up and down more quickly (engine braking is more effective). You will hear chatter when crawling next to walls, a slight ticking or jingling, and if you shift lazily (i.e. try to accelerate in third or higher from 2000rpm or lower or otherwise put the clutch under heavy low rpm load) you'll hear a grinding, metallic noise. Again perfectly normal, and despite not sounding too great, does no harm, think of it as a reminder you're in the wrong gear, cos that is what it means. Both of these noises are the same thing; 'flywheel chatter' caused by the reduced play in the drivetrain after changing out the dual mass fly for a single. There is no other disadvantage to this procedure, hill-climbing is unaffected, to put the gran turismo myth to bed once again, and neither is any other aspect of daily driving the car. HTH N.B. Having said that I find myself thinking that you do have to be a little more precise with the clutch, I wouldn't have mentioned this, because I figure most people who would want to do this mod in the first place are at least decent with the clutch, but yeh, it's true, you need to be more precise and smoother with the clutch or you get a jerkier ride, naturally, that's kind of a given cos you've taken a lot of the momentum out of the drivetrain.
  12. Those euro-devils, how could they!? Oh, the inequality!! Won't somebody think of the CHILDREN!!? Come to Greece guys, we need your money and we won't stop you for speeding (seriously).
  13. Have you got a pic of the concave on the 8.5 yet? In for one when you do please! Cheers
  14. Track toy? I'd daily drive it!
  15. I think we'd all be too busy smoking our newly legalized pot to care, especially the lib dems themselves.
  16. Labour now have 4 votes today! Any new signups with a name Diane Abbot or similar?
  17. The cost of that kit is the only thing preventing me from recommending it to those who are just after a stock replacement. I'm sure it's good value, but not as good as these... I have both of these exact items fitted to my car (I paid even less though, fractionally, about 6 months ago). http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252493852528 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272411186505
  18. Who cares about the GE anyway, democracy fails yet again...nobody knows what they are voting for and nobody knows what they'll do behind our backs anyway. It's all so totally and utterly pointless, might as well draw straws instead. Why am I suddenly feeling this way? Loss of faith in my fellow voter... http://www.lbc.co.uk...ward-to-losing/
  19. I paid 129 quid new from ebay for my XTD type flywheel, it's a solid piece of metal, there isn't much that can go wrong, pay as little as you can. The clutch on the other hand has received mixed reviews, I'd buy genuine Exedy if you can. With the XTD flywheel, throttle resposne is dramatically increased, chatter at idle is almost zero, however low rpm grind under load (accelerating hard from low revs in a high gear) is pretty noisy. On the bright side it teaches you correct gear selection to avoid it.
  20. You want black JR3 on sunset, imo, it's the same wheel I'll probably end up fitting, in black. Don't worry too much what color you get, you can paint them. Silver, black, whatever, not expensive. I'll photoshop you some options a bit later if I get a mo.
  21. Which exact wheels are you looking at? I'll photoshop them onto my own car for you if you like. Just tell me what wheel, don't need a pic (but won't say no if you've got one handly).
  22. *moot. Sorry, can't help it. It's one of those minor orthographic errors, where folks more commonly use the incorrect term (mute), because the meaning is still intact with the word mute, one of the reasons I bother correcting people when I see it. Really, my apologies, I don't mean to be pedantic, I'm genuinely trying to promote correct usage! The other one like that that drives me crazy lately is 'I could care less'...what they mean is they couldN'T care less! Drives me nuts.
