  3. I've seen several DIYs for this that did it with plenty of fuel in the tank, I believe it needs to be below about 40% to not spill out through the access ports when they're removed. You just need to be careful lifting all the bits out you don't spread fuel everywhere, and naturally, make sure you're on a level surface.

  6. You DON'T like the Juke? Have you no soul, man?? As stated, I like character in a car, same reason I didn't love my absolutely EPIC 335xi. It went like stink with 400hp and AWD, and in my opinion is one of the best looking cars on the road, period (E92), but it never made my special place tingle like the 9k rev limit of the S2000 did and infinitely progressive driftability, or unmistakeable v6 warble at 4k+ of the 350Z do. That should explain it I reckon.

If you do try to do this yourself, make sure you have easy access to the o-rings that are needed, or if you don't (sic: have a nissan dealer near you), then buy at least 1 extra in case you screw it up... The o-rings expand immediately that they come into contact with fuel. If they accidentally touch a drop of fuel prior to being seated, you will then not be able to fit them at all, off to nissan to buy more (they aren't expensive on their own, about 12 quid I think, but if you need to buy 3, or 4, then it mounts up). Apart from the fact that opening the fuel tank is a dangerous exercise at the best of times, you have to consider that if you do spill a lot of fuel in your car (you're going to spill 'some' no matter what), it's going to stink and be horrible to clean up. Then there's the aforementioned spotless clean up so there's no standing fuel ANYWHERE to ruin your o-rings. Plus the senders themselves are REALLY delicate. It's a pretty high risk job, I wouldn't take it on to be honest, but you may feel differently. My car is going in for this exact work on friday (my fuel gauge only works at between 50% and 30% fuel level, at all other levels, the needle drops against the stop), as well as a load of other work. I warned my guy about the o-rings AND gave him 4, so he has two chances lol. Re: fix not working for long, I agree, once contaminated, variable resistors more easily get contaminated again (I know this from my RC hobby as well as hearing it in the past about the Z senders). I bought new-ish senders from a low mileage car from Jon@Emperor and will replace them wholesale, I doubt I'll ever need to change them again considering I do about 1500 miles a year and use 100RON fuel (it actually cleans the senders, they've been getting slightly better on their own since I bought the car).

Mmmm, seems i am getting at you again, but i shall correct you, no legendary sports cars that YOU care about and as for mad cars, you may have forgotten about the HSR Chevette and Manta 400 amongst others, if they werent mad, nothing was: I see your mad cars, I hadn't forgotten the manta, and I raise you a Datsun 240z, a Datsun 510, any Nissan skyline, any other zed car, Silvia s13 to s15, the new gtr range and the coolest little Suv around, the juke. By the way, I see no mad road cars...? Thanks for the education, honestly, I definitely know precious little about Vauxhall, but I still feel they are not a patch on Nissan.
  9. I voted Lib Dems in the poll. I don't normally vote, don't feel I'm well enough educated in politics, truth told, but if I was still in the UK, I'd be voting lib dems. Indyref2 and legalisation for the win. Simple as that.

I love the fact that he is now optimistic that they can win, having previously said that 200 seats would be 'a result'...yes, the worst since 1935. Labour are such a giggle, they really are. "What I really meant was..." is becoming their mantra.

  12. I totally disagree, Opel has no brand identity, no (meaningful) heritage and no legendary sports cars that anyone cares about, Nissan has all of the above in spades and more. As for crappy little runarounds, Opel has a load of those as well, but without the legendary stuff supporting it. I can appreciate why you guys in the UK like Vauxhalls a bit, it's got a British identity, but come one, similar in brand prestige to Nissan? If you guys really believe that, it must be a UK thing. Opels are widely despised by car enthusiasts in Europe. Perhaps it's time for a disclaimer. I'm an Opel hater, I always hated Vauxhall, blame the Nova SR. Every good thing Vauxhall ever did was because Lotus helped them (Carlton, VX220, etc). I'm only interested in mad cars, and Opel hasn't really ever made one (except any of the FWD VXRs which were mad in all the WRONG ways). Their cars lack character (a brush I will happily tar VW and Honda (in recent years) with as well) and for that I will continue to despise them. I welcome a Vauxhall education from someone in the know if my views are ill considered. My favourite brand is Honda, closely followed by Porsche, but Honda lost the plot a few years ago when they stopped making interesting cars (when they made the last S2000s and EP3 Type Rs).
  13. I can give you another case from Greece on this if you like, and lessons were learned... I've mentioned before the insane road tax for high cc engines (high cc in GR is anything over 1.8), so for a 1.8 the average driver pays around 400 quid a year, and this rapidly shoots up as engine sizes increase to 1200 a year for a 4 litre and over. (To put that in perspective, the AVERAGE wage for an under 40 in greece is about 700 quid a month, lowest earners take home about 450 quid/m). For a short time after the crisis came down on us, the government raised these already high rates, with the result that almost everyone with a car with an engine bigger than 2.0 took it off the road. Road tax revenues went down steeply. They reintroduced the old rates a year and a half later. There are many such situations where the counter-intuitive method gets the desired result. Each time they lower the taxes, more people put their plates back on their cars and they get more revenue.

  19. It's not just jobs, war has been the catalyst for most major technological advances over the years, but more importantly, hardship binds us, it unites us. Nowadays we fight like rats in a barrel because we're taught to be special snowflakes, but nobody wants a special snowflake, they want conformists. What modern society seems to really need is an identity. Wars used to give us that, a reason to pull together, now the world is full of hate and disrespect, cos we're forgetting what it means to unite. Add to that the population issue (and it IS an issue), and you're left with the only really logical thing to do. The 50s was a most civilised and respectful era, in terms of the way an educated man treated his fellows, but slowly we forgot why we need to be that way. Don't worry, it won't be long, there's a world war coming soon, our species needs it unfortunately.

Is this factual, or purely opinion based., it may be a tiny majority % wise, but 1.5 million is a lot of people and i dont think you or anyone else can say 1.5 million people would change their mind, well of course you can as you did, but its not true My feelings on voting out havent changed one bit. Not saying all 4.1 million are bregretters, but, yeh, 90% were. We can debate the value of that petition, and the motivations for people signing it if you want, but I only refer to it so you know I'm basing my facts and figures on something more substantial than my imagination. There is ZERO doubt in my mind that if a second referendum had happened at the time this petition was being signed, you'd have seen a 55/45 remain. I'm certain of it.
  21. The problem with democracy isn't the governments, it's the people. We're a bunch of vengeful bastards, who will cut off our noses to spite our own faces. Case 1: 52% of people voted brexit, a tiny tiny majority. following that, when several million people realised that the revenge vote they cast against the status quo had actually won through, they were like 'oops, I didn't actually want to leave, I just wanted to look like I care and make a statement, I wanted to make it close', and several million people registered their desire to change their minds. Fast forward 6 months, and the EU has been a right arse through all of this, playing super-hardball, and when another poll is taken....guess what? It seems that now Scheuble insulted the relevancy of the English language, people are like 'oh well, he's gone too far, now I don't want back into Europe, even if it is what's best for the entire world, because that sausage eater devalued me!' Pathetic. Case 2: The Greeks. For decades, two main political parties, very similar to Tory/Labour stole the entire nation's wealth like it would never run out. So, the crisis comes down and things start going to crap, what is needed is experienced and stable government (or should I say stable and strong), under the current circumstances, there's no way the kind of grand theft that was happening could continue, no matter what, it's not like if you voted for the people who stole from you they would steal from you again, there's no way they could, all the beans are now counted. But no, the Greeks didn't care about that, they wanted revenge. 'I'm not voting for one of those bastards that got us where we are now, let's vote for this right wing upstart who has no experience and expect that he'll be able to lead a country out of one of the worst, if not THE worst financial crisis any country has ever faced outside wartime (or aftermath of such)'. The result is evident. They didn't know what they were doing and things got yet worse. Blame the stupid people. Democracy must die. I don't have a better idea, but I know this isn't working. The mindless, vengeful majority will lead us over the cliff like the lemmings we are.
  22. I think it's a clever play by labour. If we've learned anything from the political climate of the last two years, it's that the unwashed and uneducated who are easily swayed by sensationalism and blaming their problems on others (such as the rich elite), now dramatically outnumber the financial and intellectual elite. Greek referendum, eurocrisis, brexit, trump, etc etc. If they play this campaign well, they could turn it around based solely on the Robin Hood tax policies. Or should I say Corbyn Hood. Who doesn't love a good Robin Hood story of socking it the establshment to pay the 'poor downtrodden souls' who didn't feel education was important when it was available to them for free, but now feel that they are owed an easy job for life? I started ranting again...sorry.
  23. If anyone's curious, I've owned and insured 6 vehicles in my 14 years in Greece. Mk2 Golf GTi - TPFT - 350 a year - I was 27 with no history in Greece. Mk4 Polo 6N2 16v 1.4 101hp - TPFT - about 250 quid a year at 29 with 2 years no claims Honda S2000 - TPFT - 600 a year at 32 with 5 years no claims. This is the only one that really shows that the Greek industry is aware that the S2000 is a high risk car (it is). Civic Type R EP3 - TPFT - about 450 a year at 35 with 8/9 years no claims BMW 335xi E92 - fully comp - about 900 a year at 38 with 11 years no claims Nissan 350Z - TPFT - 560 at 39 with 12/13 years no claims (the theft of the BMW above, while I claimed, is not considered an event that was 'my fault' and therefore did not affect any future premium or my no claims points). Also worth mentioning that over here it's the car that is insured, not the driver. I can let an 18 year old kid who just passed his test take my car out for a spin under my insurance (if I was an idiot), and he is fully covered under any circumstances (edit: actually, now that I think about it, I think the non-named driver has only third party cover), I do not need to be present in the car or anything like that, he only has to have my permission to drive it and a valid license. As you can also see, out of many and varied cars, the price variation is relatively small, everyone basically pays between 150 and 1000 quid a year depending on the power and prestige of the car (and also value in the case of fully comp). The no claims system is also a bit different. For every year you don't make a claim your 'no claims bonus points' are increased by 1, if you have a crash that was your fault, you lose 2 points.
