Me too, it's my nature. Hence my expressed agreement with Dan, that passively cooled items will benefit more from better flow, than something that actively sucks its air in. The 350Z stock bumper has a HUGE rad opening, it really is not going to be an issue, promise, put it wherever you think it looks the best.
-
Yes. It really doesn't matter where you put it mate, since you're not boosted, you won't have any issues. Best practice theorycrafting is what we are doing here, for the little that it's worth. Like I say, I'll be mounting mine in the centre, without any consideration whatsoever to air flow, and giving zero Fs.
-
That's good thinking right there.

Do a few hard reverse brakes as well.

If I had 200k for a hybrid supercar, the NSX would be it. I don't like the BMW and I for one, get a warm and fuzzy feeling inside whenever I see the Honda badge. By far the two best cars overall that I ever owned were my S2000 an my EP3 Type R. Particularly the Type R got a daily raping and never asked for ANYTHING in return over 3 years, bought with 100k miles on it. Ah...Honda love.

I like everything about it except the stripes which make me think it's trying to look like a Shelby.
-
Yep, I was going to point this out. The engine is sucking air in, whereas the rads require passive cooling. I'm gonna say it really doesn't matter where you put it, it's not like you're boosted and need large amounts of cooling air, but if you're going to go for a deliberate placement with optimum-ness in mind, then in front of the intake would probably be preferable. By the way, I'll be mounting my plate upper front and centre of the grill after my paint, and I'll be in stop start traffic in summer at 45*C, I won't be worried.

Yep, working fine now! -
Are your backing plates still in place? Sometimes people remove the backing plates which are there to protect the inside pads and disc surface from the road rash they get if left unprotected. Particularly the inner pad on cars with missing plates gets into a terrible state quickly, which then affects the surface of the disc and can even cause deformation of the disc. Just a thought.

I often wonder which way we will ultimately go...Borg or Blob. I believe that one of them is inevitable. Depends which direction technology turns I suppose. If we start using more labour saving technologies, maybe we will lose use of our legs (but not necessarily get fat, that's more of a commentary on current social issues surrounding obesity, you only get fat if you eat more calories than you need, so lazy or not, some would be fat, some would not, I digress...), but if we develop faster along the interconnection and networking path, maybe we will soon start implanting stuff inside our bodies, it will start with mobile devices being integrated into the visual cortex and audio centres (imagine a virus that constantly played a tune you hated inside your head that you couldn't stop! :O) so that we have augmented reality, and it will go from there unti we become a hive mind incapable of or denied, individual function. Sorry, having a philosophical afternoon. -
Go and check out the Evo R spoiler I just posted about in the General 350Z section, that's a stunner too.

Anyone know an EU source or interested in getting a group buy on for this product at all? I think RT used to have it on his ebay store, but doesn't seem to anymore, and I can't seem to find it at any of the usual box shifters lately either (madmotors, etc) Beautiful spoiler... http://evo-r.net/pro...litzz/index.htm

Please excuse my impertinence, you may be well aware of the product and know very well what you want, and this suggestion may be worthless, but I pointed this out to another member recently who was after a v2, and he agreed, so I figure, you never know, maybe helpful again? Where the v1 and v2 style is concerned, I believe that the Gia Cuzzo style spoiler just beats them both at thee same style and flows much better with the lines of the car...edit: plus the bonus of not having to remove the stock spoiler if you don't want to, it's optional. And there's a ridiculously cheap replica available too... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131846657179 I have no vested interest in selling this product or this ebay seller, I assure you, I just prefer seeing Zeds with this spoiler than the Nismos and figured, hey maybe he hasn't seen it..? Feel free by all means to tell me to keep my opinions to myself in future.

As the other member said, fair play to you for having a clear idea what you want and going after it. I wish you the best of luck getting a result you are happy with.

Summer Holidays - Where are you all going?

Nowhere! I'm already here! -
Not for me personally, but it is quite agressive looking. image courtesy of Bulletproof automotive The closest one I've seen to that for the 350Z is this one (link below). I'm sure it would be cheaper and look better in the end to have a fabricator cut or mould the vents to this, rather than trying to make a 370 item fit the 350...use your imagination and you should be able to get quite close to the Varis... http://www.madmotors...ear-bumper.html

Up to you I reckon. If I were you I'd probably get another JDM one, they do have MPH on them on the inside of the clock facia, don't they? I say this mainly to avoid computer issues, but just for testing (literally to see if the needle moves), all you need is a Z friend with any cluster at all, 10 minutes to swap over and see if the needle moves, 10 mins to swap back, no biggie. The funny thing is I have a spare cluster which I would gladly give you for free, but it would cost me 10-15 quid to send it to you and take probably around 10 days to arrive... if you want to do that, shoot me 15 quid and I'll send it over. It's in an awful state visually, but mechanically, it works fine. You could use it to experiment with facias and lighting after that I guess. It;s a US unit, with white euro facias (which don't match light locations, of course, this is why I changed it), plus the moron who did this 'work' on the original cluster clearly lost the mask that goes behind the facias with the result that when a light comes on, the whole gauge lights up red and you can't really tell which bulb has come on. It;s quite funny really when you look at it and think that someone did that on purpose and was probably happy with the abortion of a result.
-
Another cluster. It's a relatively quick test to eliminate the actual speedometer mechanism, but like I said, it's a fairly long shot, given that the digi doesn't work either.
-
There's a fine line in this domain between subtle and cool, and 'holy hell is that a mobile disco!?!'
-
Im guessing its more than a 2 min job in my case with the cameras the cluster is JDM and still in KLM, there is a speedo de-limiter hanging iin the passengers footwell but im guessing its not related I swapped mine from a US one in miles to a Euro one in kms without any issues whatsoever. In any case, pop the ignition trim out (ring around the ignition), remove the lower steering column cowl, undo 4 bolts and a plug, that's it. Pop the other in and just see if the needle moves, you don't care if its miles or km to see that the needle moves I suppose.

Agreed.

I would talk to my watch while secretly pressing the button. "Kitt, come round the front." "Yes, Michael" "FFS, my name's Jonathan. JONATHAN! Stupid car". -

Interesting, just read this on the BBC just now... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-39495915 In this case, there is a 'controller' but he has no control whatsoever. The vehicle's top speed is 10mph, so it's unlikely to cause a major accident, but let's say a double decker bus is careering out of control toward the 'shuttle', what can the driver do with no controls? Apparently he only has an emergency stop.
