End of driving coming.... courtesy of Nissan
Aashenfox replied to gangzoom's topic in Off Topic Discussion
It's a conundrum. Like many of these things, someone really clever will think of something simple and we'll all be like, ah....yes, why didn't I think of that?? -
I was going to suggest swapping the cluster from another Z just to check, it's a 2 minute job and would eliminate the easiest part to change (and source), though if you change cluster you might want to have the miles re-programmed to be correct. But since the digi isn't working, maybe it's something else.

'twas in jest. But at the end of the day, all the small print will say 'your responsibility to be alert and take control if it does something stupid, etc.' Don't forget, you CAN take control at any time, and you CAN still see out of 4 sides of the car. Yes, I agree having to be alert will kind of defeat the point, but hey, I didn't say it was perfect, nor will t be my policy to implement, but that's how it will be I reckon. -

I know! In the case where an accident one way or another is inevitable, and the computer can't decide, it's liitle voice pipes up 'sorry bro, you're on your own!' and hands manual control to you immediately. -
It's just too much like an alien training shoe, don't get me wrong, I know it's fast, and clever, and I have so much love and respect for Honda, but there ain't no way I'm letting someone see me getting out of that. Those tyres are NUTS as well, 20" wheels on a hatchback? One pothole your tyre and rim are both dead. What are those tyres anyway, 25 sidewall?

Not quite cat 'bolts', but best I could do...? /shrug P.S. Now I have a real problem, my daughter (5) saw me posting this and asked what are these lovely hello kitty things!? Being a good Daddy, I gave a full and complete explanation of what valves and valve caps are. You know what happened next... "Can you put those on your car please, Daddy? Pleeeeeeeeeease"? Well, how could I say no? Hey, they're tiny, it'll be a sweet touch. Now 5 year old boys AND 5 year old girls will love my car.

I'm gonna bite, and ask...why? What bumper are you trying to fit? I hope it's not the Amuse (AMS GT), because there is already A 350Z version available to buy, it'll still need some fabrication (, don't they all?), but it won't half be easier to fit!!
-
But it does look a lot better with them! On the subject of cheap spacers, I just can't get visions out of my head of poorly fitted or low grade studs popping out, maybe paranoia, but peace of mind is priceless.
-
What did you ask him, what did he reply?
-
Thinking of buying a few body parts including potentially an entire AMS 370 GT kit (for 350Z) from this seller, anyone got any experience? Thanks! Alternative sources for said bumpers most welcome!!

I don't think the question is if they can be made infallible in terms of causing death, I think that would be impossible (a ton of moving metal is a deadly weapon under any circumstances) but to make an improvement on current statistics, probably not difficult, and if that's managed, then success, no? You won't get my hands off the wheel unless you prise them off, cold and dead. -
Try this seller for cheap genuine Eibachs, at that price, no need to risk it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281938347573

You're right, my enthusiasm to impart my perceived injustice and apparent soap box stance in the OP was bound to give an impression which in hindsight isn't what I desired. Well noted. -

I always word my messages as simply as possible and include Google translates which I know are somewhat hit and miss being in Greece myself and speaking the language, but you're absolutely right, that they tend to ignore something if they don't completely understand or aren't sure how to refuse. Language definitely didn't seem to be this guy's problem though, I think it's the first time i've heard a foreigner use the word exaction so appropriately! -

Yes, it's obvious that I can see that right from the start. I'm not complaining about it. Just sharing. I more wanted to discuss the balls on the guy to accuse me of exaction. I've said 5 times and in the title, it's resolved, I'm OK with the outcome but would have preferred to have paid reasonable delivery and avoided the whole thing, naturally. I got my parts, he got his money he prioritized over a customer's good experience, and that's that. I did expect a bit more sympathy though. -

That's a completely fair and accurate assessment. The whole result is he got a negative for being an ass, but kept my money. I learned something; don't expect everyone to be reasonable, which is easier to fall into than one might think, most people are very reasonable and that's been my experience the last few years over quite a few transactions. The dispute's resolved, he's got my money, but a negative. On the other hand. I've lost 15 quid, but feel like I didn't let him get away with it scot free. Everyone wins and everyone loses, a typical dispute really. Why can't people just respond to communications before it's too late? -

I wasn't being serous about Brits, just being funny, no offense intended. But I doubt the situation has cropped up before where he had the opportunity to charge a high delivery 4 times for 4 extraordinarily lightweight items. I admit my mistake, and paid 15 quid for it, his was ignoring me in the first place and then having the gall to call me fraudulent for asking a perfectly reasonable refund of excess delivery, which was not just excess, but outrageous, as pointed out. I guess it's fair enough in the end, we both paid for it. I would have given him a neutral if he had been polite about it. It's resolved to my satisfaction, I'm not asking for anything more. By the way, read some of the 'positive' comments, at least two that I remember were very negative, wonder why people do that? @terrible service, will not deal again' is pretty unambivalent. Strudul, I guess the fees would have been higher but proprotionately, it's still worth his while doing it isn't it? But yeh, I gave him the benefit of the doubt on the technicality of it (he still has my money), I just stopped dealing with him and decided to give him a negative when he repeated an accusation that was nothing like what was happening. -

Yes, indeed, but this is fraudulent, according to ebay policy. At the exact moment that he admitted to me that the extra delivery cost was 'part of the cost of the parts', and the package arrived in one packet, he is totally in the wrong, technically and morally. In any case, whether by the rules or not, he charged me 4 times for postage that he only needed once, the parts weren;t so cheap as to justify the delivery being part of the cost, in fact, I've now worked it out more exactly and they were already more expensive than getting them from nissan before delivery. I don't need anyone else's opinion on that, it's wrong. He got a negative because of his attitude and lack of communication until there was an issue. I'm surprised at the people saying I should have let him screw me and take it on the chin just because I accepted the offer...I genuinely expected more people to say I was easy on him. There's a technical side here and a moral side. The technical side is questionable (though I do feel that ebay would rule in my favour if I pursued it), but the moral side is not. He thought he'd make some extra money on the parts by charging delivery 4 times and thinking there was nothing I could do about it despite the fact he knew from the start that I wasn't interested in paying delivery 4 times, then he tried to be a smart guy by accusing me of trying to pull something. Well, I could have taken it on the chin and walked away, but I didn't, I chose to do something about it. I really don't understand how you guys can think that by accepting the offer, I waive all my rights to pursue being screwed over and then treated like I'm the one that's out of order. Things must have changed more in the UK than I imagined, Brits used to stand up for what was right. -

Oh, and by the way, the parts weren't so cheap that one would expect to pay again in delivery (like it's obvious from some of the Chinese auctions that want like $400 delivery). The price was 'about' right, fractionally cheaper than from my local Nissan dealer who told me this part has never ever come to Greece and would take a month to source, but would cost about the same as the Latvian guy was charging. That's why I was on ebay in the first place. -

ok, I'm looking at it from the seller's point of view (by the way, I have sold on ebay a few times myself)... He has in his hand a person asking for combined delivery. He's thinking to myself. "hm, I'm kinda screwed now, because I need him to pay the delivery 4 times because for me, it's part of the price of the parts. I know, I'll just ignore him"....you agree that this was the right action on part of the seller on the first place? If so, let's move on..."hm, he sent me a request for total, damn, this guy really doesn't want to pay the fraudulent delivery I'm trying to charge him...I'll just ignore him again, maybe he'll get desperate for the parts". Sure enough, I did. He's now reading my message on my payment saying I expect a refund of delivery and thinking "I hope he just lets this go if I ignore him a third time, I don't care anyway, I've got his money now"... Unless you see something else happening here? -

4x 30g items in one jiffy bag, one load of economy delivery paid, there's no way this cost more than 5 quid to send to me. Thanks for the support, it;s appreciated, I was starting to doubt myself. -

yeh, maybe the details are triclky to glean from all that text... I made it clear to him from the start that I expected combined delivery... 1) In my initial offer, I asked combined delivery. 2) I requested total after accepting the offer and waited 3 days for a response, none came. 3) I sent him a message asking when he would process the refund he KNEW I wanted FROM THE START. Then he starts accusing me of trying to exact from him. Add in the fact that I didn't get my money and won't be going after it, this was not about money.
