  1. I did not know that. What a crying hurtful giant hairy donkey bollock sized shame. I'm actually gobsmacked why anyone would do that. I still think the Clio is madder though, cos it had no purpose, they did it for the sheer f*** of it, and what a result. It's my absolute number 1 car I must own before I die (mk2), closely followed by the CGT, and then the lambo I promised myself when I was 14 (any one will do).
  2. I want to apologise for the tone of some of my posts in this thread. Especially to jetpilot. I had a really shitty day today, my apologies.
  3. Track weapon definer has got to be the Super Seven, no? (I'll be honest, I don't know much about track cars so feel free to shout at me on this one, I won't complain. )
  4. It;s not madder than the clio, it's a race car, it's more purposeful than the clio, sure, but the clio needs a tall hat and a rabbit throwing crockery around. How many S4s did they make? And do I need to mention the 6R4?
  5. I stuck with his definitions throughout, they are being slowly refined, so the nature of posts is changing. I agree about the miura though
  6. For the last time, I'm not confused about the purpose of the thread, if anything YOU GUYS ARE (the thread title says 'definitive cars', not 'which is THE defining car in each genre'). If the whole point of this thread was for everyone to agree and pat each other on the back, I'm kinda glad it's falling over. I explained why I feel it IS definitive. You can disagree as much as you want, but I think it DEFINES the perfect parameters for a hypercar, therefore definitive.
  7. Doc, you're not reading or not understanding my posts. We've already been through the Clio thing, and I agreed, it can't be called definitive because its unique, as I also mentioned in the above post. To elaborate further I felt it was definitive in specific terms 'the maddest of mad hot hatches', I felt it deserved to be mentioned as a defining car, others disagreed and redefined the terms of the thread, which you just reiterated again, I agreed with that and we all moved on. By the way, in your terms, the Miura can be the only defining hypercar (everything else was very late). And the fact that you started your post with the word 'nope' shows you still don't understand my complaint either.
  8. I can absolutely assure you I understood perfectly the question right from the start. For me the Carrera GT is the definitive purist's hypercar, the car that should represent the vision of a 'hypercar', full on race power, race geometry, no aids, kill you soon as look at you knife edge handling. Is that ok, please? There's nothing definitive about the McF1, it had a central driver's seat. If Dan can discount my Clio for having a mid engine that no other hatch has (and I agree with that reasoning as it does preclude being definitive, unique and definitive are technically opposites), then I can veto the McF1 for having a central seat that no other hypercar has (I think there's another actually, but I can't remember). P.S. And I genuinely believe that history will prove me right about the Focus as well, though Dan might be right, it might be forgotten, I'm going to go for 'not forgotten, finally something that knocked the Evo off it's very lofty and long held pedestal as the most practical car with near supercar performance', and, naturally, a definitive hot hatch.
  9. That's an idea too. Nice one, I'd forgotten.
  10. Can't see you getting both for £150k, unless it was a leggy 96RS and an early auto NSX. I agree, it would have to be one or the other, I'm not fussy.
  11. I might have some funny ideas, but at least they're mine, not out of some car magazine or website article that I can sit reading and nod while stroking my excessively long beard. Original does not mean definitive. I'm out of this thread, if you can't make a suggestion without someone telling you why it's wrong, this has no interest for me, might as well have made the thread title 'what do the core members think are the most definitive cars, and don't say anything we don't agree with or we'll tell you why you're wrong, even if its a subjective opinion'.
  12. I don't think so. The definitive thing can be new, it can be old, but because of what it did/is it will always be that. P1 for example is arguably the definitive hypercar because of the torque fill, that will never change. But you have to define a hypercar to decide if a car is definitive, what are the factors that define a hypercar. Then, if the P1 fulfills ALL those factors does it become definitive. However if another car fulfills it also, then you do not have the definitive list of factors that define what definitive is. Unless of course two cars could be definitive by meeting the criteria of all the factors that define definitive... Definitive hypercar is the Carrera GT. They only got softer and safer from there on. The GT is the most hardcore hypercar ever, imo and therefore defines the genre. some of todays pig-heavy hyper cars are not worthy of the moniker. Alternatively, you could say the definitive was the Lamborghini Diablo, a concept perfected in the Carrera GT.
  13. Borderlands 2 is my most played 'action' game of all time to date (I say 'action' because 800 hours is nothing compared to how much I played WoW and Championship Manager), I have logged 800 hours primarily farming for legendary weapons and doing boss speed runs in PT2.5 (if anyone's curious, the difficulty model of BL2 goes like this: You play through once, reaching about level 30 on standard difficulty, which for decent gamers is effectively easy mode. Then the next time you start a new game, you still have all your equipment, levels, stats and abilities from where you finished the previous game, but the enemies have gone up several levels. When you finish THAT playthrough, you will have reached level cap and PT2 will no longer be a challenge. The game checks if you have reached level cap and finished playthrough 2, then gives you PT2.5, which is basically legendary mode).
  14. Yes, they are still making them brand new in india.
  15. Ok on the Clio, but the Focus RS is probably going to go down in history as the greatest hatch of all time. A hatch that is appreciably better than a Mitsi Evo in just about every respect? RESPECT! If you wanna be boring about it, FINE, the mk1 Golf GTi is the definitive hatch (by definition of the word definitive, despite personally agreeing with Dan, and preferring the mk2 (I've owned five over the years, so I should like them!)). but if each person lists the definitive cars, we won't have much variation, as this has already been decided by history, I just wanted to mix up the game a bit.
  16. First choice - GT3 RS Second choice - Mint NSX
  17. 911s are notoriously marmite cars, either you get on with driving what is essentially a pendulum and learn the right technique, or you forever wonder why anyone likes them. My only Porsche experience is when I had run of a friend's boxster to keep it running while he was away for 6 months. Definitely an incredibly well balanced car that was phenomenally easy to drive fast. Doesn't help me know personally what the 911 is like to drive of course, but I consider myself a true enthusiast and I have a lot of love for Porsche. For me as a driver who simply wants the greatest challenge, a Porsche 911 Turbo is still one of my dream cars, I relish the challenge of driving it right. Going back to the (2014?) OP, yes, fitting sticky tyres does ruin the fun. It's that simple. But that's why we replace them, would you rather have easy powerslides, but end up going backwards into a hedge one day? Or unbelievable grip on demand, higher limits and less slidy-slidy? Your choice.
  18. Hot Hatch (if you're a driving purist) - mk2 Renaultsport Clio V6 Hot Hatch (if you like newer cars or are more overall performance oriented) - 2017 Ford Focus RS

Dunno how it will hold up on my cubby door release button. Top style might be fine, but with the bottom style (that I have), I reckon it might get scraped off instantly. I agree. You don't really want to do it on parts that are used often or slide back and forth. Although having said that, I put it thick on the front grill of the beamer, deliberately thick enough to get a bit of orange peel, and it lasted 6 months including being jetwashed by the monkeys at the petrol station and still looked like new when the car was nicked.

Plastidip is a matter of patience. The trick is to apply enough coats that it will peel off nicely. If you apply it too light it comes off in tiny pieces and is a nightmare. If you apply it too thick, you get orange peel effect. The best approach is patient light costs and lots of them, say 6, then a slightly heavier final coat and you should end up with a smooth finish and easy peeling later. It is MUCH easier than using spray paint, so of you have the patience for painting properly, Plastidip is childs play by comparison.

It does feel nice, like the rubberised feeling of a good quality phone case. I did my BMW interior with brushed aluminium vinyl, then plastidipped the ashtrays and a couple of other things black. Looked perfect, like a high quality rubberised coating, perfectly smooth. Was easy enough to clean. I don't know how long it will hold up to touching and scratching though.
  22. Nothing ever went wrong climbing a mountain, ever. Lol. 6 years ago I'd have been all for it. Now I have a couple of mini terrorists, I won't be taking any risks with my life for a few years. You got kids Dan?
  23. Here's mine, despite looking ok in the pics, the bodywork is in a bit of a state, still haven't decided what direction I'm going to take it before I get it painted. The third pic is showing what I mean about the finish of the spoiler. Woulda helped if it had been cleaner, but hey ho. lol.

Hm...I would have gone brushed aluminium vinyl myself, though I expect you're right, the camera isn't doing it justice. Looks almost like neochrome (as a colour, not a finish) from that photo.
  25. http://www.gamespot....w/1900-6416620/ Added to wishlist, thanks Will, that flew right under my radar, I hear modding a Zed will do that to you! Huge missed opportunity.
