  1. Stacking my ZXR 750 and needing skin grafts and pins.
  2. I've had loads of compliments compared to the old M3 I had.
  3. Yeah I do this if it's not to cold, saves drying it and the rain water is softer than the water from my tap. The neighbours think I'm mad.
  4. Heading towards Reading from Wallingford.
  5. Language evolves, it always has and will continue to do so. I'm sure there were plenty of phrases my generation used that irked our elders.
  6. Love the front end, love the side aspect. The rear looks a bit disjointed IMO but hey I prefer the 350 so don't listen to me. Very nice car matey.
  7. I love the car to mate. I've owned some tasty motors in my time but the Z has a feel good factor I can't quite put my finger on.
  8. Just remember how much money we saved before winter tyres were invented
  9. The testing process is of course the first step to becoming a competent driver, it's your experience afterwards that really counts. Anything that makes the learning process more realistic is a good thing. Pass plus after passing should also be mandatory with motorway instruction IMO. Driving unfortunately is also habit forming and many experienced road users deteriorate by failing to continually assess their behaviour or health . Overconfidence in one's ability can also be dangerous. Also because of increased demand on the road infrastructure most highways are now designed to reduce build up on major arterial routes, for example some roundabouts are marked out for a double lane right turn past 12 o clock. This then confuses people on roundabouts with shared space that think they can turn right in the left lane etc. There is no such thing as a perfect driver and all we can do is continually assess our behaviour behind the wheel.I certainly don't think removing the three point turn is an issue if the test involves more realistic tasks.
  10. Winter tyres are great we have them fitted to the work vehicles at this time of year. As for a north south divide unfortunately you are more likely to get snow the further north you go. Us southern softies grind to a halt anyway when there's an inch on the road
  11. I'm 4 miles from my office so no winter tyres for me. To be fair living south of London we are unlikely to get any snow this year. The Z will be garaged if it snows and I will use my other half's note instead
  12. CPS = Criminal Protection Service Yes you need a case file as big as a house to get a conviction these days. Difficult point to prove for the OP if the car drove home ok ,unfortunate but true. I feel for you mate but its unlikely you will see a return of monies.
  13. No way. 80 the strand that's Shell - Mex house. I worked there many moons ago when I was a surveyor for Shell. They ended up selling it off so I assume it's now all multi tenant office space is it?
  14. You got the face lift which looks much better than the previous one. Nice car.
  15. Another thing to check is the rear springs especially at the base where they sit in the cup they are prone to cracking before breaking completely. I would imagine if a car has been stiffened or lowered it may punch through the boot floor but on standard springs and bushes unlikely even the slightly stiffer m sport set up.
  16. That should be fine it's really the M3 that suffers from rear subframe issues. I've had two 46s including the M3 and for every day use the 330ci sport I had was better and more reliable than the M3. Good buy mate.
  17. Nothing wrong with an E90/E92. The V8 is a superb engine, refined and relaxed when on a cruise and an animal when pressing on. Also the DCT is light years ahead of the SMG.
  18. I bagged myself a solid metal gear knob and it does improve it somewhat. I have just about got my head around wet driving in the Z after a month. Coming from a rear drive M3 I thought it would be similar but it's not. The power delivery in the M wasn't as immediate which gave you a safety margin of sorts, the Z seems to deliver more torque lower in the rev range so using a higher gear and keeping it smooth helps. Even with the safety cushion button on it twitches occasionally just to remind you that it commands respect
  19. I've owned a UK DC2 and an imported DC5,the Z is a different animal but an animal it is. As stated the torque is what you will notice first, delivery is smooth and linear but the gearbox throw is very similar to the teg if not as oily in its action. The Z will change direction ok and the steering feel is pretty good but it's not as keen as a teg. You can feel the extra weight of the Z but rather than being a negative it just feels more substantial. The engine note is awesome when giving it the beans and you can't beat a rear driver for fun IMO. I bought a UK spec car pre 06,cheaper tax and to be fair on the road you would be pushed to notice any difference with the HR.
  20. I'm a degree trained geologist but for me university was a waste of time and money.I did work for Shell and a couple of water authorities but after three redundancies changed career totally. Since the polytechnics became universities the market had been awash with soft degrees like "media studies" etc. I know biologists and similar degree level people who just can't get into their chosen field for love nor money. If your going to do a degree then I would say a core subject like mathematics is the way to go. That said my partners brother started as a tea boy at Wintarther life and is now one of their top risk analysts,he left school with naff all.
  21. I have a garage full of previous car parts so the Z stays on the drive uncovered.
  22. Mine is jut a random username I've had for years on other forums. The fact it has two Z ' s is coincidental
  23. Nice cars but just make sure you always have a couple of grand aside for when something goes wrong. Enjoy.
