  1. That's pathetic,just awful.
  2. I'm with spursmadave in all but footy as I'm a gooner
  3. A deity is just that, a comfort blanket for many and so be it. If a deity was unquestionably divine and not open to interpretation in any way that's different. The fact the single god belief system is patriarchal to the core is one indicator it's the mind of man.Its a control mechanism that breeds ignorance. Is it a tangible entity,no its not.Lets focus on reality and not the drumming of a fairly recent chapter in humanities past.
  4. Lol the question of creationism that stalls and nullifies belief systems. Who created the creator if something needs or relies on creation itself.
  5. Our entire existence is a blip in the grand scheme, statistically there must be life elsewhere in our own galaxy let alone in the millions of other galaxies. We are still a naive culture and change is gradual. We may even destroy ourselves before getting a chance to expand our horizons but factual and forward thinkers are our only true salvation. As religion gradually recedes and it will, people will look back on it as mythology and business nothing more. Regardless of intellect those who worship a deity are yesterday, people who are open to all possibilities are tomorrow.
  6. We are currently in the stellar age, the age of light. All I do know is the universe isn't finite and will one day be a very dark cold place. That period of darkness will outlive the stellar age. The trouble with the human mind is the capability to comprehend time on a universal scale. That's why many prefer a man made easy option to describe existence. The universe may indeed be cyclical in the sense that it's born it lives it dies, who knows it may have happened over and over again ad infinitum.
  7. No cure for zeditis, I have it bad
  8. With modern legal structure and justice systems religion is now defunct.I do agree that the constantine order to introduce Christianity and banish ritualistic paganism was a step in the right direction. If you believe in man made religion that's fine. What ever suits your mindset I suppose
  9. Abrahamic roots for most faiths. Islam believes Jesus was just another prophet superceded by mohammed. Differences are noticeable in many areas for example Christian doctrine states noahs flood to be global whereas Islam teaches it was regional.
  10. Atheism is a not a belief system, a common misconception especially amongst those that worship a deity .
  11. My missus is an accountant, we have a spreadsheet for everything . Basically on her advice I have a credit card for maintaining a credit score and insurance on certain transactions I may make. I only buy my fuel on it mainly and pay it off regularly.
  12. I generally tend to work over the festive period unless I'm on scheduled days off as it's triple time . Yes we put up a tree and have the turkey dinner. I would prefer it in the summer to be fair. My children are spoiled rotten and look forward to it.I suppose I've hijacked a pagan come Christian festive season to allow the kids to fit in with the establishment and friends. Its also good for the retail industry and helps with employment for many others. I remember the magic as a kid but even back then it was about the toys etc I would get,the two month late celebration of Jesus being born paled into insignificance I'm afraid. Materialism overshadows Constantine s attempt to integrate Christian ideology into a pagan festival these days
  13. I'm quite heartened by the responses to this thread overall. Either most on here are common sense thinkers or the religious types are steering clear. Whether or not we were seeded by another race of beings or not the fact remains that religion is man made. Those thinking otherwise are indeed missing a piece of the puzzle. Any decent historian can tell you that religion or deity worship has evolved through time. Archaeology tells us that life has been evolving and adapting over millions of years and as we know evolution is still happening now. The argument whether the one god theory is true is a non starter if the religion is man made. Is there a god, the answer of course is no. We're we created by another intelligence or the planet seeded by water bearing comets or maybe life just started against all the odds etc etc. That's the unknown and ultimate question, science will strive to find the answers unless we annihilate ourselves beforehand. The key is not to be ignorant of the facts but embrace them, enhance humanities empathy towards their fellow earth dwellers and move forward.
  14. Get a stubby, looking at that I wish I had gone for the orange seats. Looks good.
  15. I certainly don't allude to being smarter than a believer. A large proportion of them are academic to a level far beyond my puny intellect . I would say that a logical thinker in essence attempts to stay neutral so as not to offend. A decent human being is empathic to those around them and as such will tolerate others beliefs.Tolerance is one thing but indoctrination is another matter altogether. Yes you are right by saying it will take generations to filter out faith systems I totally agree.
  16. Well the last bike I rode back in the 90s was my beloved CBR900 blade. I had a blow out at 80ish.Three months in hospital and reconstructive surgery including leg pins ended my love of bikes. I'm still interested in them and occasionally during the summer months I crave another machine.Back then a nice Sunday ride with a couple of mates couldn't be beaten. All the best for the test mate and stay safe, riding bikes enhances your sense of anticipation on the road and improves your awareness in four wheels to. My situation was a freak accident and I should have returned to it. Once your up and running do a euro tour or similar. You will love it.
  17. I love the look of the C class and I've had a good poke around one. The only criticism I have and it's a petty one is the infotainment screen looks like an afterthought but ergonomically sound in its location.Yep the merc for me over the lexus.
  18. Apologies sipar I missed that.
  19. They look awesome and drive superbly, top choice sir very nice.
  20. Belief systems have always been about transition, previous systems were far more barbaric than say Christianity and to be fair it's no surprise that advanced societies are now starting to transition from religion to fact based ideology. I did see a post saying evolution was a theory, that's not technically true as evolution happens and is still happening.
  21. Nobody has mentioned that the bulk of beliefs are patriarchal and revolve around powerful men. A coincidence, of course not and another indicator of the human element. Christianity's current form harks back to Constantine and social engineering, hijacking the then paganistic festivals to ease transition.
  22. I suppose the most important thing is having empathy for others.A lesson preached in many a religious text.I believe the next mental evolutionary step in humanity involves dealing with the harsh reality. Removing that comfort blanket religion offers though is the difficult part for many believers. Cheers for the input people,I'm off to bed I've been working all night. Thanks again.
  23. Oh and a consummate petrolhead I'm wilfully pumping copious amounts of CO2 into the saturated atmosphere.
  24. We could open a huge can with that one,it will inevitably spiral into multi layered dimensions in space time and anything is possible etc. I'm definitely athiest, a big science fan and evolutionist.
