  1. Not that it's far off, but I thought the difference between L and H is 1.5l on a DE and 1.8l on a rev up? That would mean 750ml in 1000 miles, which is still within spec for the distance. I check mine every 500 miles and top up if needed. It's the only way to ensure you don't run low... which as you know all too well can lead to problems. Keep an eye over the next 500 and see if it still seems high over a "normal" driving period.
  2. Sounds about right. Without the front caliper the stability control is effectively unable to operate, so I would expect to see the tcs warning and another warning.
  3. Didn't these both get professionally detailed about a week ago? Making out like you cleaned them! Tut tut Hugh!
  4. It's a sad fact of life. As long as eBay are getting paid and not getting taken to court or getting global bad press, they couldn't give one sh!t what is being sold.
  5. Not quite as simple as that. What if the fault was caused by something outside of the warranty? Or via neglect / abuse? I've had a few spins on track which have thrown a CEL or 2. Why would a garage investigate and clear these free of charge? Just a quick example. This certainly isn't uncommon and the OP will not have to pay if the issue is covered.
  6. This is why you shouldn't buy cheap sh!t from unknown suppliers on the internet / eBay. Glad you got everything sorted OP.
  7. That sounds like standard policy otherwise anyone with a warranty would get a diagnosis done for free even if there wasn't an issue. Assuming the part that is broken / fault is not cited as wear and tear or expressly mentioned as not being covered under the warranty, then it should be replaced / fixed as such.
  8. Only 430 miles from you CN... You can't see on the mobile site: Location: Farnborough, Hampshire.
  9. For me, this is how you get people away from petrol. EV's look set to be the future though until some infrastructure is in place (At least you can charge your EV at home). Would be good if a "cool" car was also backing hydrogen a la Tesla, because that monstrosity doesn't make me want to run out and buy one... especially when it costs as much as 2 fully spec'd Golf GTI's.
  10. Father of a babby? to the group. Pedantry and grammar services available at no extra charge.
  11. Maybe it's because I'm getting (am) old, but I do like the idea of one of these or a Macan. If I absolutely couldn't have a sports / GT car, then one of these would be very high on my list as it seems to do everything very well. It seemed to hold its own on TGT against cars that were more than twice the price.
  12. Btw, I'm happy to split my consultancy fee 50/50 with Dan.
  13. Condition C (The purchaser owns a major interest in another dwelling which has a market value of £40,000 or more and is not subject to a lease which has more than 21 years to run at the date of purchase of the new dwelling;) would seem to be where you may be OK... however, how your share is valued my vary wildly depending on who does this?
  14. As Dan said, it can't (And shouldn't be under the spirit of the law) be based on the value of your share of the property or you'd be able to do clever loopholes with mortgages and shares with other investors etc., making property investors immune and normal people liable... which certainly isn't what this law is intended to do.
  15. I don't think the value of your share in the second home in a factor. The way I read it is that you will be charged the 2% because you have what would be classed as a second property. The thing I don't understand is why you don't get charged if your property is worth less than £40k, but the threshold for paying 2% is on valuation of over £125k? Surely you aren't charged an additional 2% unless the value of your second property is over £125k... in which case, you would seem to be OK, assuming your £100k valuation is correct? Edit: Having had a quick read, if the property you are buying is worth more than £40k, then you are paying a higher rate of stamp duty. This website has a calculator which will show you how much: https://www.stampdut...econd-homes.htm
  16. I do actually like this idea. Do I want auto-drive on a sunny spring Sunday morning... no. Would i quite like to be auto-driven down the M1 on a Friday night when visiting relatives after a long and tiring week at work... yes. I think this balance is where we will probably get to eventually with some sections of motorway maybe being auto-drive only, but we are years off that.
  17. Performance Driver Day please - depending on dates I could do a mid week. Edit: Just read the first post properly and I'm on holiday for 2 weeks in June. Defo still up for it if it doesn't clash.
  18. Up to you obviously, but I think you're asking too much for them. I got a plenum and throttle body for £60 a few years ago. You could get both for £70-80 on eBay at the moment. I guess it depends on how badly you want to sell them.
  19. Italy - 3 days in Venice, 3 days in Bologna, 1 day in Modena (To see Lamo / Ferrari / Pagani / Maserati) and then a week in Lake Garda to beg forgiveness from my wife for day 7!

    2019 911

I really like it, but then I don't think there's a 911 I don't like... even the 996. I hope they sell thousands so I can afford one in about 10 years. With regards to looks... what were people expecting? Porsche will only ever look to modernise the 911 in terms of styling... it's what their customers want and expect. Why would they suddenly change a formula that has worked for them for 50 years? If you want something that doesn't look like a 911, then buy something else.
  21. Everyone's tastes are different, but I'd suggest that if you don't like watching Chris Harris or Rory, then you don't like motoring journalism. Go on youtube and search for Chris Harris on Cars. If you don't like those, you'll never like him. For me, I think they both have a very good balance between driving knowledge / skill, understanding of cars and entertainment. Not easy to do, but when you see some of the bland, turgid, dirge on youtube that call themselves journalists, you really start to appreciate when someone does it well. Chris and Rory do in my opinion.
  22. I'd go as far to say that I enjoyed this weeks TG more than any of TGT episodes, which actually got quite good towards the end of the series. I've watched almost everything that Chris Harris has done on the internet and I do think he's struggling a bit with the studio stuff. You have to remember though, that he isn't a TV personality and this is only his 4th episode as a main host. I'm sure he'll become more natural over time. TGT guys struggled with the first episodes and they've all been doing it for years. Overall, very positive with the new TG and the dynamic between presenters.
  23. I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread, but also quite glad in one way. Incidents like this usually bring out the worst of the forum - "Why haven't all Muslims condemned this act..." etc. etc... It's terrible and shocking that people died, but in the grand scheme of global events it is pretty trivial. It shows how relatively lucky we are in this country when you consider how many people are killed daily in other parts of the world.
