  1. As with many jap cars of this ilk i would consider the exhaust mods as absolutely essential. The RCZR does have an interesting engine, insane power output for a 1.6, would like to try it one day!
  2. I would have to agree there is magic in the Nismo chassis. However I wish they’d have put an extra £5k on the RRP (ok, putting it deeper into Cayman territory) but fitted it with a mechanical / locking diff, Ohlins and better engine mounts. I can do all of these things aftermarket but it won’t be properly tuned and will probably reduce the value of the car rather than increase it. Seriously thinking about adding some better dampers because they are the one thing I notice as being particularly limited after stepping out of more expensive machinery.
  3. Well you have to weigh up the pros and cons carefully, but it does sound like you'd prefer something leaner than a 1,520kg car. Cayman S if you can stretch, GT86 or Renaultsport or an imported Integra Type R if you can't!
  4. What you've described isn't a 370Z sadly. It's a slightly blunt, chubby GT not a sports car. Its standout feature is reliability and low-ish running costs for a 3.7l V6. I love my Nismo but it's no exige on track and no bentley on the motorway.
  5. Former resident of eastbourne here and we'd get visited by a typhoon most years for the airshow. One of them flying subsonic is terrifying enough let alone a pair of them going full retard. Must have been scary.
  6. Interesting to see how good those "free five day drive away insurance" policies actually are...
  7. My only concern about this is how long the LEDs last before failing. Only takes a couple of them to die and it starts to look cheap and nasty, very expensive to replace too. At least you know the xenons are good for 10,000 hours.
  8. I think this is a far higher probability :o
  9. Keep plugging away at them and try to get some cheaper financing from other sources to reduce the effective price?
  10. I paid £28k for my MkI demo model: £7k deposit (p/x my 350z) then £275pm for three years, £14k gfv. 2.5 year warranty, 6 months VED and two free services. Comes to £5,700pa not including tyres or petrol! Expensive hobby but the car appears to be falling in value quite slowly so might have some equity to play with at the end...
  11. On reflection glad i didn't go, what a motley collection of shite looking cars.
  12. Oh and the fitment is *perfect*
  13. Cobra resonated on my 370ZN with berk cats. Was nicely balanced pre berk on its own but with the hi flow cats it's mental. Defo too loud for some but it sounds absolutely brutal, pops and bangs on up and downshifts etc. Drone is there at 70mph but that's the payoff.
  14. There are only 125 MkI nismos and production only lasted 18 months. The MkII has a more conservative spoiler, less sexual alloys and a fatter arse. Less NVH and detuned suspension allegedly makes for a smoother ride though.
  15. + credit card balance transfers are <2%, over 12-18.
  16. I'd be surprised if you couldn't secure a personal loan for the same or less than Nissan's APr.
  17. You'd be mad to buy a zero miler, massive discounts (£8-10k) on demo cars out there but it all depends on how much your PCP APR goes up on a used car. Beyond that I'm not sure why you're bothering with a new nismo - if yoy're going to charge it, might as well get an 09 plate and spend the 15k difference on the upgrades you want?
  18. I prefer my old 350 too, it just had more character (and flaws). The 370ZN is still a good car built down to a price, designed for the US market and compared to much more expensive germans loses out (shock horror) and is no faster than a 2l turbo these days. I have access to ferarris, pork GT3s, exiges, lambos, astons and know how good the competition is. I could have bought a used cayman S, M3, exige etc but i liked the rarity of the zed (billions of porsches in london) and that it would hopefully spend less time with mechanics than anything italian or english. Its a simple car, the only tech it has in my mind is some valve timing and synchrorev. It was basically ten years old when it was launched. Sort of thing you can really grab by the scruff of the neck, hammer, and not worry about, which is its best "feature" imho.
  19. Just seen this. Need to do japfest at some point, never been. Tickets still available? How early to arrive to beat traffic? 6am?
  20. Yeah but that is a warm dry wknd car and a different maintainance proposition. The Evora probably falls into the same bucket. You're probs looking at a Cayman really. M3 will keep up but looks like a eurobox in a convoy of sports coupes.
  21. Pretty self explanatory as per the title, 370ZN service due this month and wondered if anyone had horror stories from Ancaster Bromley or Motorline Tunbridge Wells before booking it in with one of them. Also looking for a GTR test drive while they fiddle with her. Bias is towards Tunbridge as there are five other car dealers nearby with vehicles I can test drive if Nissan are being stingy (R8, M3, RCF, MX5 lol). Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.
  22. Never had any CEL issue with the Berk + Cobra combo on my 370ZN, 9000 miles done.
  23. If i was young and single i'd have an R8 if only because it has the most powerful fanny magnet of all the cars listed above. Women absolutely love it. F-type is also nice but show me a charged jag that hasn't eventually hit four figures. Will drop like a stone. M3 is solid but looks like a brick in a convoy of sports cars. GTR is also fugly, woman repellant and expensive to run. AM electrics too frustrating, 911 too generic/familiar. Thought about an Alfa 4C?!
  24. What do you mean by "getting air"? Are they leaking?
