"Another safety enhancement was the tire-pressure warning system. A pressure sensor within each wheel in the center of the rim halves could send a radio signal. An antenna in the 350Z's front roof pillar would relay this signal to a receiver in the dashboard. That information would appear as a digital readout on the drive computer display in the group of secondary gauges on the center stack. The driver would be warned by both a lamp and a buzzer when low tire pressure was detected". is this true?

Cruise controlled 60mph in the slow lane you can get 36mpg, in london traffic not so good - around 13mpg. Like others here my long term average is 24 mpg using tesco 99 ron... But it isn't a Zed unless it's screaming past 5,000rpm ;-)

Krispy Kreme Engine plenum + Vortech v2 SC
Dynamic Turtle replied to Adrian@TORQEN's topic in Forced Induction
Very interesting. How much does the SC kit weigh and how does it affect the handling balance given that it's perched on the nose of the car? -
In this weather, not normal.

Beautiful interior, not so sure about the mini-panamera exterior. Gen II Cayman R looks best as others have said.

Nah, I'll take an AM Vantage or Maser GT thanks - this new jag looks nice but a little bit over-styled. As always, pandering too much to our American cousins...

Nurburgring is anybody going this month Aug 2013?
Dynamic Turtle replied to Jeza's topic in Motorsport & Track Days
The touristfarhten sessions mix hundreds of under-skilled and over-confident death-wishers on the same track. Never again. A far less-congested (and much more expensive) track day session? Maybe. -
Take the £8500 cash. It sounds like you don't have the time, inclination or facilities to de-construct and sell the parts yourself and the cash price will get you a lower mileage 2006 in good nick with a £1-1.5k left over for petrol :-) DT

Tesla Model S is the safest car in the world
Dynamic Turtle replied to AliveBoy's topic in Other Cars
haha tongue/cheek guys? Just read lots of articles about lithium battery problems in planes and phones etc. Seems like its not a totally risk-free energy storage solution either... -

Great looking cars for an american manufacturer though. And forget his engineering skills - Musk's talents are in marketing and self-promotion. -

safe until the 400kg of lithium battery under your ass goes into a fukushima style meltdown. -
Spent a few hundred miles in my mate's 997 MkI GT3 on an alpine road trip and it is a rocket ship for sure (great brakes too). The way it pulls in 6th gear is just scary. However, living with one would be a different proposition IMHO. The droney exhaust is loud but not exactly tuneful, then you've got the cabin boom to contend with, and that ridiculous front lip, which catches everything. It's a thrilling car for sure, but I reckon you'd be able to find others which are just as technically capable and more of an event to drive for the £45k he paid for it. The 991 GT3 is just crazy expensive. I think porsche (and others) feel the need to tack an extra £30-50k to the price just so that it doesn't "appear" to be too far behind the current gen ferraris with their telephone number prices. They're competing against yachts and light aircraft in that price category...

speaking of Typhoons, I had the privilege/horror of experiencing one at the eastbourne air show last weekend. holy sh*t mother of god in hell that thing sounds like a constant stream of thermonukular detonations. I would NOT want to be on the receiving end of a squadron of those (are you listening Rajoy?)

Had a chance to inspect one of these up close at le mans and was very disappointed after seeing how good it looked in the heavily photoshopped press pics. On close inspection the low quality of the paintwork, fit and finish comes through and this was a display model waxed to within an inch of its life. It looks just like any other tonka toy Camaro/mustang junk in the flesh. Sorely disappointed because on paper it looks like a bargain and in the pics it looked stunning. Edit: obviously I haven’t driven it, just commenting on the aesthetics. Also, the alloys are ridiculously large and while they look good in the pics, they have a whiff of Overfinch about them in the flesh.

Fails the 2005 test but why not get a Z3 M Coupe instead? Prices have only been going one way recently, they are infinitely cooler than the Z4 and it's a future classic. Hard to find any with <40k miles though and the older 70k+ engines appear to need some kind of rebuild. But probs worth the effort though. What about an SLK/CLK55? Marmite cars but more power. On the newer side, a remapped 335i with 380bhp+ is possible and might be within budget.

The black edition 370 looks ok, otherwise gun for a 350 and used the leftovers for modification.

Narrowed it down to 3 tyres!!! Help please..
Dynamic Turtle replied to drginger's topic in 350Z General
It only takes one near miss to make you realise that spending a couple of hundred quid more on better tires could potentially save you thousands. ditto pads/discs etc. What's wrong with the RE050s btw? Seem fine to me... -
Budget a grand a month for repairs to the 996/997 in that price range though
-
Numerous nurburgring fail videos will attest to this. My highly unscientific 2c ;-) If an e46/e92 M3 is a bit of a stretch I've only heard good things about the 335i (once quaifed and remapped) looks nice, can be boosted to silly bhp and has decent MPG if that matters to you. Not sure whether it would be dynamic enough for your missus though. Maybe she has the right idea on the whole megane RS / Focus ST thing. Way too much snobbery surrounding the "superiority" of RWD... The aftermath of our 2013 European Road trip
Dynamic Turtle replied to mattross1313's topic in 350Z General
Did a similar trip to you recently and have to agree re Route Napoleon - perfect for the zed's capabilities in terms of being wide enough to drift, unlike the Col de torini / stelvio / fulka where a miscalc results in certain death... they're maybe a little too windy and narrow for a 1500kg GT. An elise or caterham would've been better there. Great GT for a trip like that and it changed my opinion of what the car is capable of in performance terms. Just wow! -
Don't get it, they add weight, offer little to no observed improvement in terms of aerodynamics, make car parks and speed bumps a headache and cost hundreds of pounds?! Strange...

apparently a new rear bumper is £400 from nissan with the rear parking sensors, seen a few on weebay go for £150-250 depending on condition. spraying & fitting whatever the garage feel like charging you. Apparently not the easiest fit and subject to warping / cracking around the rear lamps so check their work carefully afterwards.
