    LOUDER!!!

MIlltek / HFC sounds like a nice balance to me - happy with mine. Quiet on the motorway and fruity on full throttle with some overrun crackle. If you're trying to make the zed sound like corvette or a viper, you're probably going to need a bigger engine rather than decats? HFC rasp sounds much better outside the car than in it - lots of positive comments from the other guys on a recent road trip.
  3. You can have a whole heap of fun with a £4k slush fund left over for petrol, tires and brake pads - get a 313. 2c on the 370z styling; the black edition (in black!) looks ok, anything else looks a bit...meh. The rotund rear bumper being the primary culprit. It's a chubby 911.
  4. Took my zed around europe a couple of weeks ago, 2300 miles of stelvio / fulka / route napoleon and it was just epic. Changed my view of what the car is capable of and just how well engineered it is. Does the GT and sports racer thing equally well. Friends took a 997 GT3 and Caterham 1.8. Both were shocked at how it kept up on both the straights and the twisty bits. A seriously under-rated machine... We hired a suzuki sport for the ring, and that was plenty fast enough. Less is more out there so be careful with the zed, it's a seriously challenging (make that terrifying) track.
  5. Interesting, so you're saying the noise / rattle is inaudible over 2k rpm or so? Might add it to the list of potential upgrades...
  6. I had some Pagids on mine for a while and whilst they were definitely better at stopping the car, I couldn't take the squeal any longer and switched to standard brembos.
  7. still got that "croydon facelift" pedestrian-friendly bonnet/lamp styling though...
  8. The Ring is fookin dangerous - I won't be visiting again. For professionals only...
  9. EDIT: Msisleman has done some checks and has discovered that Rent4Ring require that you buy a basic €129 2-lap package before you can use this 4-lap voucher. This is due to customers having to sit through the safety briefing (30m video) and and process various T&C documents before they let you out on the Ring. Apologies for the oversight, they failed to mention this to me when I opted for a voucher.
  10. Thanks Sidewayz, I'd appreciate that. Just to put it into context, 4 ring lap tickets would cost you £90, so you're getting the Suzuki + fuel + liability insurance for £110, which is a pretty good deal IMO.
  11. Hi chaps, I went on a Nurburgring excursion with my girlfriend on Sunday June 16th and rather than risk taking the Zed on track (which I strongly recommend you avoid - it's extremely dangerous out there) I rented Suzuki Sport Stage 1 from Rent4Ring to take advantage of the insurance cover and its specialised track performance, mostly in the form of very sharp brakes. It's surprisingly nippy once everything has been stripped out and slick tyres have been added, so don't assume this is a granny wagon - it's very fast. Sadly we only got to use two laps of our six lap package before a motorcyclist hit a barrier and was tragically killed, ending the touristfarhten session for the day and setting a sombre mood among the crowd. Rent4Ring have given us a 4-lap voucher for the unused laps, which we are unlikely to use in the near future. Just to confirm, I will send the voucher, the original receipt and the contact details for the manager there to help you confirm its authenticity. The retail cost is €299 (£260) and is the ALL IN package with fuel and, lap tickets included in the price. http://www.rent4ring...tml#p175_allinc I'm looking for £200 and the voucher is valid for a year. Cheers, DT
  12. Doing my first LM this year with a couple of friends, looking forward to seeing the race, less enamoured about paying £250 for camping and £70 for a ticket! Bloody rip-off...
  13. My uncle's new Countryman is an absolutely shocking pile of ****. 1.6 diesel has zero poke, interior is fisher price and the 4WD is useless in the snow. He's had it a month and regrets buying it. I should also mention that he's a gay interior designer, as are all nu-mini owners.
  14. Had a mooch around one of the V8s in canary wharf today - the dealer giving the exhaust some beans with the loud button on. Let's just say it was the most ridiculous OTT howitzer cannon fire i've ever heard produced from a car. It makes a bowler wildcat sound ghey. It is NOT a good thing and you will be pulled by the blues & twos. Will put lots of buyers off methinks.
  15. Yep, if the content of this vid was spoken in arabic we'd all be ringing special branch...
  16. Admiral "only" demanded an extra £31 per year for my mods, on top of the £740 I already pay. I find it strange to have to pay extra for insurance on items that are excluded from valuation in the event of a claim (regardless of the extra "risk" factor that +10hp delivers)! crazy...
  17. Lawrence of Arabia, watch it twice a year. Such a great patriotic epic. Also love anything with submarines - das boot, crimson tide, red October etc.
  18. Dyno only shows full throttle dyno pull it doesn't show part throttle response, The Uprev main gain is the lower gear throttle response as well as the fueling and Ignition maps set up for the mods added. Running the HFC's always makes the car loose a little torque at under 2000rpm on full throttle but how many times do you drive a car like that , full throttle 4th gear under 2000rpm? Running without the plenum spacer will lose the normal gain in Mid range torque as well. Also the dyno plots isn't your car stock versus you car after fitting the Abbey Motorsport performance package, we fit the parts then run the car on the dyno with the stock car ECU map then remap the car. So it is a before and after remap dyno plots NOT stock versus APP ( Abbey Performance Package) Understood and thanks for the clarifications Mark, what you've said makes perfect sense. I would've liked to have added the plenum but as described above, it was a non-starter. Anyway I've finally had a chance to try it out in drier conditions and can now detect more poke in 2nd/3rd @ 3-5k rpm. It's also nice being able to take the car up to 25mph in 1st without suffering the rough racket from the OEM exhaust - makes skipping that horrid 2nd gear a more viable proposition because the rev drop at that speed seems to be less severe i.e. I can make the shift holding onto 3k rpm rather than 2-2.5k. DT
  19. Papa, it probs just needs a good polish but the metal is yellower than normal, rather than shiny chrome. As for torque, there are marginal 5-10lbft gains from 2000-5000rpm according to the graphs but it's not something i've been able to detect thus far. Only noticeable gain is in first which sounds much nicer and more willing to hit 25mph (was changing up around 18mph before).
