  1. Once done it's not too hard or long winded to look after yourself. Having said that, I spent 5 hours today doing my daughters Punto. (first ever wash, clay, polish, seal and wax).. (no photos) Note that I live in an apartment and the car is parked on the street. I have precisely zero access to a hose / pressure washer / garage etc. Not sure I can be arsed with the whole "two bucket method either"....
  2. As above - have a small ding in mine (UK 2005) but it's enough to make me want to change it. No structural damage, just looks like a depression from someone reversing into a bollard. It probably won't smooth out because it's plastic....unless bodyshop guys can fix that sort of thing? One slight complication - it has the parking sensors. Don't ask me how it happened - previous owner's fault Cheers DT
  3. I don't think I've ever commented on one of these detailing threads before (think it's a bit... OTT), but I have to say, those zeds look brand spanking new. Problem is, when I take it to the friendly albanian chaps down the road for a wash a couple of weeks later, what do I tell them? "use fresh wabbit wool mitts please"?
  4. I know radiohead haven't released an album for a while now, but I never thought I'd see Thom Yorke waxing Nissan's....
  5. Sad news. We have to thank him for making cars so god damn pretty, even if he never designed a Nissan.
  6. Anyone use one? Seen one hanging off the back of a Z before, and it looked weird. I can get one bike on the passenger seat with wheels & saddle removed, but it's difficult to use the handbrake in that situation. What to you guys use? DT
  7. Just enquired about taking a heli taxi down there. £1900 for the two of us. Maybe next year
  8. Goodwood virgin here - any tips re traffic and parking? Will be going on Sunday. I assume congestion will be horrendous around there?
  9. And you didn't ask him for a job?!
  10. Bloody hell, 100, possibly "as many as" 157 in the UK? Screw that
  11. Agreed. With all due respect Wabbit, how you can go from something as pretty as a 313 drop top to a 123d is beyond me. Technically brilliant I'm sure, but my god they're fugly. Just as well nobody will notice, because it's a BMW. 159 2.2 JTDM Ti would've been my choice in your situation. At least they look nice!
  12. Well as far as I can tell, that must be all 50 of them in the UK. Never seen more than 3 or 4 for sale at any one point.
  13. Any previous owners here? They appear to be extremely thin on the ground in the UK and probably a bit too exotic, but interested to hear thought nonetheless.
  14. Just had mine changed (DE engine though) during a P3 last month. Abbey charged £40 labour (40 mins) and £67 for the sparks. Might cost more if requested as a single job on its own though...
  15. I agree with both Dblock and Gangzoom. Dblock rightly says that trying to save £210 a year in tax when the 135 costs £5-10k more than a Z, is a bit silly. However, when you look at gangzoom's argument that the 135 has potentially 25-30% better fuel efficiency (is that with cheaper 95ron too?), then maybe the argument is stronger if you do a lot of miles. 400hp for an extra £4k is a nice option to have, if you want extra power. I'm sure there's an online fuel costs calculator that can work out the actual sums for you. Agree with other posters that the 1/3 series look a bit prosaic. Maybe get one in a slightly lary colour to compensate?
  16. Hard to answer in a straight forwards way. Stock without a LSD the 335 really struggles for traction, in 2nd gear unless the road is slickly smooth the traction control would kick in. On your average poorly surfaced B road its almost impossible to really enjoy the car because of the lack of traction. Hence I got a LSD fitted to mine almost as soon as I bought it, and now the car behaves the way it's suppose to. In terms of pure grip I think the 2 are very similar. The 335s damping isn't as good as the Z's, but that might be down to the runflat tyres. Overall I'm very impressed by the 335, and cannot really fault it's handling. But in terms of driving "fun", I find my self actually taking the 335i for longer drives than I did with the Z!! Only difference been the 335 can carry 4 adults and all their luggage Take one for a test drive you wouldn't be disappointed. I loved my Z but have to say I love the 335i even more, despite there been a 320D around every street corner Theres also a ridiculous amount of tunning options for the 335 most of which is not that expensive, mainly thanks to the Americans who seem to love trying to push the N54 engine as much as possible (there's a video of one on YouTube out dragging a Lambo ). Have to say its going to be very hard for me not to buy another BMW as my next car!! Interesting. Coupe or convertible? Or the hard top which folds into the boot (what's the name for that)?
  17. Nice idea, but nobody buys a zed for its fuel economy, right? Pretty sad to own a car like this and try to squeeze 35mpg out of it...
  18. Agree with Zugara. It looks a bit....jarring, no? But, each to their own
  19. Very fast turnaround and great service from Abbey last week. P3 + sparks, belts and suspension components. They also tidied up a few loose ends FOC. The car is now taking speed bumbs with great confidence and the whole machine just feels like a tighter, happier drive. Price was very reasonable too - will definitely use them again. Many thanks to Scott & the team there. DT
  20. I have the same problem. Whaddya mean "fit a new one"? A whole. new. windscreen?! Isn't that going to be expensive?? A new top moulding, as they are not reusable and should be replaced every time you fit a new screen or if they pop out. Alex OK thanks - I'll get Abbey to make the necessary adjustments while it's being dismantled

  22. Nah - still a barge designed for the US market. Ugly thing. And probably too expensive.
